The English language and literature major explores literary traditions, cultural analysis, and critical interpretation, preparing you for careers in teaching, research, and any field that values analytical skills. This versatile degree sharpens critical thinking, writing, and communication skills, opening up diverse career pathways in publishing, marketing, game design, law, business, and more. You can also pair your English major with Valpo’s secondary education minor to become an English teacher in middle or high school. Students with this minor are prepared to seek licensure to teach English in grades 5-12 across the nation after graduating.
