Valley Christian Schools’ mission is to provide a nurturing environment offering quality education supported by a strong foundation of Christian values in partnership with parents, equipping students to become leaders to serve God, to serve their families, and to positively impact their communities and the world.
Valley Christian Schools’ story began in 1956 during a Bible study hosted by Bud and Barbara Callisch. Here, David and Edie Wallace discussed and prayed about creating a Christian school dedicated to a nurturing Christ-centered environment and a curriculum that integrates biblical principles. The school opened its doors in 1960 at Los Gatos Christian Church.

A world where every student pursues their personal Quest for Excellence TM
A core distinctive of Valley Christian Schools is the seamless integration of faith with academics. High-quality academic programs are coupled with thoughtful conversations, enabling students to incorporate their Christian faith into every aspect of their education. This comprehensive approach equips our students with the knowledge, skills, and values to excel in the next phase of their educational journey as they navigate a dynamic world.
The Skyway Campus features some of the finest state-of-the-art facilities in the Bay Area, which are incorporated into a secure learning environment. Students can access a biosafety lab, piano labs, two athletic stadiums, a recording complex, an observatory, two gyms, a kiln, ceramic rooms, a nanotechnology and microscopy lab, a black box theatre, the Student Life Center, the Human Performance Center, main theatre, and an Olympic-sized swimming pool.
Walley the Warrior is Valley Christian Schools’ official mascot, named by our students after our founder, David Wallace. You can catch Walley at our sporting events or promoting our student-run store, Walley’s.

VCS is celebrated for its exceptional academic programs that merge a nurturing environment and rigorous standards with a strong Christian foundation, equipping students for success in higher education and life. We use a unique educational framework, the A3 approach, which stands for Academic Excellence, Artistic Beauty, and Athletic Distinction. This holistic model aims to develop well-rounded students who excel not only in their studies but also in their creative and physical pursuits. This strategy ensures that our students are well-prepared with the knowledge, skills, character, and values necessary to thrive in an ever-changing world.
“Within our caring community, students cultivate talents, explore academic rigor, and practice purposeful living.”
I am honored to serve as the principal of Valley Christian High School. With over twenty years in Christian education, I have had the privilege of engaging in various roles that have enriched my understanding of our community. I taught English and AP US History, coordinated our alumni program, counseled students as an academic and college counselor, coached our Mock Trial team, chaperoned mission trips, and served as vice principal. As an alumna, I chose this school for my own two children, confident in its ability to nurture and grow them. These experiences gave me a deep insight into leading, serving, and impacting a high school learning community.
High school is the pinnacle of the Valley Christian K-12 educational journey. During these final four years, students explore critical questions such as, “Who am I becoming?” and “How do I belong in a community?” We believe that being known within a nurturing environment is essential for teenagers’ spiritual, social, and emotional development, allowing them to stretch their intellect and talents within an innovative, quality learning environment.
Our Christ-centered teachers, staff, coaches, and mentors guide and prepare students for the next chapter of their Quest
We provide life and college prep training anchored in our Way of the Warrior biblical values: honor, wisdom, courage, and sacrifice. Students cultivate talents, explore academic rigor, and practice purposeful living within our caring community. We are committed to finishing the foundation that will carry them through their college years and beyond, including pastoral care for our alumni community. Once you graduate from Valley Christian High School, you will always be a Warrior – ready to lead, serve, and impact today’s complex world based on a solid spiritual foundation.

Through a rich combination of core classes and electives, students can discover their passions and develop their talents in a comprehensive, college-preparatory environment. Christian education is more than a career—it’s a calling. Many of our faculty come to us as experts in their field. Seventy-two percent of our core academic teachers hold advanced degrees, and all faculty and staff are passionate about helping students prepare for future success.

The National Merit Scholarship Program aims to recognize and reward students for their exceptional academic achievements. Being named a finalist or winner serves as a testament to the academic rigor and excellence fostered by VCHS.

Eighty percent of the class of 2025 earned honor roll status.

The AP programs allow me to delve into various areas of expertise and have largely helped me find a completely new perspective on learning. I discovered more about myself and which study methods and tactics work for me. This has expanded my willingness to put myself out there and dig deeper into what I don’t understand rather than avoid it. The time I’ve spent on engineering projects has changed my mindset in areas of my life beyond academics, which had the most profound impact on me.

Our Academic and College Counseling department partners with students, parents, and teachers to prayerfully identify their social, emotional, and spiritual needs in connection with their academic, college, and vocational goals.
This is accomplished by identifying interests, core values, and aptitudes, so students can pursue their individual goals in a tangible way. The team works to provide thoughtful academic, college, and career planning throughout four years of high school preparing students to serve God, and their families, and to impact their communities and the world. Our Counseling Center provides a welcoming and collaborative environment for counselors and students to navigate their way to a bright future.
The counseling team provides strategic education and individual support to students in the following ways:
• Annual grade-specific presentations covering strategies for academic success, course selection, college preparation, school involvement, character development, and a healthy life balance
• Discipleship and the development of students to be intellectually, socially, emotionally, and spiritually healthy Christian leaders
• Education and empowerment of students to take ownership of their self-discovery and college application process by using a strategic four-year college counseling curriculum, including CIALFO (our college & career readiness platform), and College Kickstart
• Individual meetings with students and families to help students develop a rich list of universities that suit their interests and goals
• College tours led by VCHS counselors—past trips include the Midwest, Boston, New York, Philadelphia, the Pacific Northwest, the Southern States, and Southern California
• Over 200 college admissions representatives scheduled throughout the year to meet with students, in addition to our annual Christian College Fair, and Out of State Colleges Fair
• Each spring, VCHS hosts a comprehensive college admission event for eighth through eleventh-grade students and families, offering expert-led sessions on topics such as test prep, financial aid, wellness, and career pathways, along with a college and resource fair
• Individual college counseling appointments to assist in the NCAA and NAIA athletic recruitment process for student-athletes
• Yearly Financial Aid and Scholarship evening informational session as well as individual support as needed in connection with filling out the FAFSA or other financial aid and scholarship documents

Recognizing that each student is uniquely created by God, endowed with various talents, and capable of learning, we offer specialized assistance that enables all students to reach their fullest potential.
Accommodation plans are available to serve students identified as having cognitive, medical, psychological, or physical conditions that may interfere with their academic performance. The accommodation plan aims to support students with learning differences during high school to prepare them to succeed in college and the workplace. The students best served at VCHS can succeed in a college-preparatory program with accommodations in the mainstream classroom and are able to self-advocate for their needs to teachers.
The Redeem, Equip, Achieve, Contribute, and Honor (REACH) program celebrates our students’ neurodiversity and exists to help them achieve their academic and personal goals by offering additional support for one class period in their regular schedule.
We offer a peer tutoring program with pre-approved high school students. These students have gone through training and are available for interview.

My high school counselor was pivotal in shaping both my academic path and personal growth. Each session with him was more than just answering questions—it was about challenging my understanding and pushing me to think deeper about my choices. He took the time to know me fully—my background, my family, my values. This holistic approach gave me a strong foundation in the ‘why’ behind everything I do, making me more thoughtful and confident. My counselor made all the difference, both in my academic success and in who I am as a person.
~Ria (VCHS ’20, Georgetown University ’23, Columbia Law School ’27)
We’re dedicated to ensuring every student has the guidance and support needed to succeed in high school, college, and life afterward. That’s why we’ve integrated Navigate into the school day schedule—a flexible and strategic time designed to enhance the college search and application process through meaningful, structured engagement with our expert counseling team.
Built into the school day, Navigate ensures that our counseling team has dedicated time to create various touchpoints with students. This consistent interaction helps build strong, supportive relationships and provides personalized guidance tailored to each student’s journey.
Our flexible schedule allows for individual meetings, drop-ins, counselor-led workshops, and other educational formats twice a week. Whether it’s one-on-one advising, group sessions, or hands-on activities, we provide the resources and support students need to navigate the complexities of high school, the college search, and the application process.
Throughout the year, counselors use Warrior Time to deliver specialized grade-specific curricula designed to assist them with their stage in the high school experience. These sessions occur about six times a year and focus on essential topics such as self-reflection, studying for success, career exploration, college research, and maximizing the benefits of the CIALFO and College Kickstart programs.
Navigate provides invaluable opportunities for students and counselors to connect informally and regularly. These interactions foster a supportive environment where students feel comfortable seeking advice, sharing concerns, and celebrating achievements.

We are passionate about helping our community grow in its relationship with God utilizing an intentional pathway called Spiritual Formation. Through interactions with Christian teachers, mentors, campus pastors, and biblical teachings, students gain meaningful life experiences. These experiences help them thoughtfully begin to answer questions like, “Who is God?” and “How am I developing a relationship with Him?”

The goal of Spiritual Formation is to point people to Jesus, fulfill God’s call through education, and aim to reach Silicon Valley and beyond. Our well-rounded education extends beyond classrooms and test scores, integrating character and identity formation into all academic pursuits. In 2022, VCS launched an initiative to focus on building faith, character, and virtues. We call it the Way of the Warrior.
The Way of the Warrior ethos has the following qualities:
• Wisdom: Pursue wisdom in education (Proverbs 1:7).
• Honor: Own your thoughts, feelings, attitudes, and actions (2 Corinthians 10:5).
• Sacrifice: Seek the heart of Christ (Philippians 2:2-8).
• Courage: Embrace resilience (Philippians 1:20).
These virtues are foundational for students and transformational for our VCS family. Imagine the impact of a Warrior Nation that demonstrates wisdom, honor, courage, and sacrifice in all thoughts, words, actions, and relationships. We believe the Way of the Warrior can shape how we lead, serve, and impact our world.

Leading worship in chapel really did change my life. God brought me out of my comfort zone and expanded all the gifts He has given me. This shifted my whole purpose and goal that I now have for my future. God’s plan for my life was so different than I could ever imagine, but I wouldn’t trade it for anything. I’m so thankful that God sent me to Valley.

We are committed to helping our students put their faith into action through meaningful service experiences.
Students can explore their faith journey on campus and in the community. As a Christian school with a clear missional focus to reach the world with the good news of Jesus, we will encourage our students to grow in their relationship with God and be willing to give Jesus a fair hearing. We desire that every Valley Christian student be formed into the likeness of Jesus, allowing us to reflect His love and good news to others as we lead, serve, and impact our world.
Our dedication to service continues throughout high school, fostering a lifelong commitment to joyful and compassionate service to others, just as Christ and the early church modeled.
Our Way of the Warrior commitment includes the following:
• Twenty-five hours of required community service
• Partnerships with pre-approved local nonprofits and local churches
• Yearly summer Service Week with up to twelve service options
• Freshman Family Night that cultivates relationships with new families
• Regular on-campus opportunities
• Junior and senior leadership classes
• Weekly worship and educational experiences
• Teachings on biblical unity and character formation
• Service trips (IMPACT)
• Spiritual Discipleship Track
• K-12 Biblical Unity and K-12 Wellness
• Spiritual retreats

Grade-level specific Bible classes are designed as part of our four-year Spiritual Plan. Instruction includes introductory classes for students new to Christianity.
• Studies in the Bible’s Old Testament
• Studies in the Bible’s New Testament
• Philosophy of Religion & World Religions
• Service Learning on campus, locally, or around the world

Chapel encourages and challenges students’ spiritual growth as they explore their faith and ask life-changing questions. Through diverse chapel formats using engaging music, relevant teaching, scripture analysis, thoughtful conversations, and compelling art, we help students answer questions about who God is as they connect their faith to life. The Spiritual Formation team crafts an intentional yearly calendar to help students build their faith in the good news of Jesus, the truth of Scripture, and the value of serving others.
• Weekly chapels help students grow in their relationship with God.
• Bi-annual Spiritual Emphasis Weeks allow students to focus on their faith.
• We invite students to experience various chapel formats to help them connect their faith to everyday life.

Every year, students and faculty teams travel the world on short-term service trips to places like Alaska, Seattle, the Philippines, El Salvador, Chile, Guatemala, Mexico, Thailand, and Nepal.
In addition to 63,000 individual service hours, we host several campus-wide service projects throughout the year, including food drives, clothing drives, and fundraising for various nonprofits, including Martha’s Kitchen and CityTeam.

• An optional additional chapel on Mondays during Warrior Time called “Grace Line Chapel” is designed for students to dive deeper into worship and Scripture.
• Students connect with one of our campus pastors or a chaplain who can pray and encourage them.
The Discipleship Track is an optional, eight-week course designed to equip students with the essentials to grow in their relationship with Jesus. It is led by teachers, chaplains, pastors, and students. Not only does it help students connect to a community, but it helps them explore the following topics:
• How to read Scripture
• How to find a church
• Why it is essential to serve

• How to share your testimony
• Why worship matters

We schedule off-campus student spiritual retreats in both the fall and spring. As a respite from the busyness of high school life, time is intentionally set aside for reflection, inspired by how Jesus spent time with God when life became hectic.

We are passionate about serving our whole community. Whether a student, parent, alumnus, faculty, staff, or one of our partners worldwide, we want to help you grow in your relationship with Jesus. We host several ways to grow together throughout the year.
Here are ways to be involved:
• High School Parent Teacher Prayer Fellowship (PTPF)
• Worship events (i.e. Convocation, Encounter)
• Prayer Intercessors
• Parent Connection Groups (by region)
• Events (i.e. Homecoming, Christmas at the Conservatory, Festival of the Arts)
• Parent Ambassadors
• Warrior Club
Our Parent Ambassadors pray, minister, and connect with other VCS families in their neighborhoods. You will also be part of our Warrior Club and a partner with the Spiritual Formation Office.
Our enthusiasm for Christian education extends beyond high school. We continuously build partnerships with top-level Christian universities and colleges with admittance and guaranteed scholarships for VCHS graduates who qualify. Our current partnerships include Biola University, Azusa Pacific University, Wheaton College, Westmont College, and Grand Canyon University.
We are passionate about the local church and believe it is essential for lifelong faith. Every student eventually graduates from Valley Christian, but we never graduate from the Kingdom of God. Therefore, we partner with local churches to help families connect and grow in their faith. Our Spiritual Formation ministry is seen as an extension of the local church and includes service-learning locations, youth pastors who lead campus clubs, and quarterly gatherings hosted for local pastors.

“After this, I looked, and there before me was a great multitude that no one could count, from
every nation, tribe, people, and language, standing before the throne and before the Lamb,”(Revelation 7:9).
We believe that true belonging is rooted in the heart of God’s design. Guided by biblical principles of justice, equity, diversity, and inclusion, we are committed to honoring every individual as a unique image-bearer of Jesus Christ. Embracing the beautiful tapestry of cultures, backgrounds, and stories, we strive to reflect the unity and diversity of God’s kingdom (Revelation 7:9).
Ethnic diversity is a beautiful part of God’s original and eternal design for humanity, reflecting His glory and deepening our understanding of who He is. Biblical unity is rooted in Jesus’ greatest commandment: to love God with all our heart, soul, mind, and strength, and to love our neighbor as ourselves (Mark 12:28–33). True diversity, equity, and inclusion are made possible only through the redemptive work of Jesus Christ and the truth of Scripture. vcs.net/biblicalunity

1. LOVE reminds us that true unity flows from Christ’s redemptive work. When we see every person as God’s image-bearer, it transforms how we handle conflict, discipline, and differences (Genesis 1:27).
2. CELEBRATE moves us beyond tolerance to actively honoring the rich tapestry of cultures, abilities, and backgrounds God has woven into our community (Galatians 3:28).
3. CULTIVATE calls us to intentionally build bridges of understanding, partnering with families to create environments where everyone belongs (Philippians 2:3-4).
4. RECONCILE is a step toward peace and forgiveness because Christ first forgave us. By God’s mercy, we can equip our students to pursue justice and healing in a fractured world, addressing real issues like racism and injustice with grace (Matthew 5:9).
We cultivate biblical unity through joyful cultural celebrations, family support, spiritual formation, community dialogue, and Christ-centered education. Our goal is to reflect the eternal reality of God’s kingdom, where every nation worships together in perfect unity, by pursuing transformative oneness through Jesus Christ and a steadfast commitment to biblical truth.

Psalms 139:14 states that God created our innermost being, and we are “fearfully and wonderfully made” by Him.
God designed us to have thoughts, emotions, and gifts, all packaged in a physical body. Each part of us needs care and attention to ensure we thrive and live the life He created us to live. The Wellness team promotes understanding of these qualities and teaches how to care for and honor them.
We desire to provide the following:
Pastoral care for the whole person

Opportunities for our community to care for each part of their being
Resources for social, emotional, and spiritual support

Healthy coping strategies embedded in curriculum at all campuses
Social emotional learning strategies included in the school day
Support for parents and investment in relationships with them

Student life is just as vital as academics for teenagers’ social and emotional growth. Our vibrant Student Life program fosters essential life skills such as making friends, building connections, forming teams, and engaging in low-stakes competition, all of which create a safe and enjoyable learning environment that makes it easy for personal development.
We strive to cultivate a joyful and engaging school experience. Through laughter, fun, and community-building activities, we ignite the sparks of joy that excite students to come to school by enriching their educational journey with lasting friendships and a strong sense of belonging.

Amidst a competitive Bay Area academic environment, Valley Christian High School faculty are committed to prioritizing wellness and relationships. The sense of community at Valley Christian changed my entire outlook on relationships, friendships, and life in general. A theme was set in high school to “be known and know others.” This meant that to truly be a family, we must dedicate ourselves to knowing others’ hearts and souls, rather than just faces and names.
