VERIFIED COMPLAINT OF WISCONSIN OPEN MEETINGS VIOLATION FROM:

VALLEY SENTINEL P.O. Box 144, Spring Green, Wisconsin 53588 (608) 588-6694 editor@valleysentinelnews.com

TO:

JENNIFER HARPER, District Attorney 181 W. Seminary Street Richland Center, WI 53581 MICHAEL WINDLE, Corporation Counsel*1 210 North Main Street P.O. Box 128, Westby, WI 54667

Dear Counsels; The Valley Sentinel submits the following to you as a verified complaint pursuant to state statute 19.97 against the Village of Lone Rock, its Village Board and Public Safety Committee, and certain officers of that village, to wit, Tammy Christianson, Dan Quinn, Harry Pulvermacher, Mary Litviak, Steve Morgenson, Brandon Bindl, Adam Reno, and Chris Conner. In support of the Complaint, the Valley Sentinel states:

Background 1. This complaint concerns meetings that were held without proper notice by the Lone Rock Village Board (including public hearings on the village’s annual budget) on November 1, 2022, and by the Lone Rock Village Board’s Public Safety Committee, conducted jointly with the board, on October 31, 2022. 2. Complainant is a Wisconsin Domestic Limited Liability Company (Entity ID L068429). It is a “person” as that term is used in sections 19.97 and 990.01(26) of the statutes. *Although the statutes direct enforcement of the Wisconsin Open Meetings Law to the district attorney of each county, Complainant is aware that in some counties this function is delegated to corporation counsel, so in an abundance of caution, this complaint is being transmitted to both officers. 1
