It

all starts with one drop.

One ripple. One touchpoint can change the world.

Impact Missions strives to connect individuals and churches as they seek to serve Christ and thrive as disciples. It really is that simple – at least on the surface. We all know that thriving as a disciple of Christ is not something to be taken lightly or something that one merely dabbles in on occasion. Being a disciple is about who we are and who we are becoming. At Impact Missions we believe that serving Christ in very practical ways is one of the best avenues to grow toward that life we seek to attain.

Our goal is to provide meaningful, trusted experiences for individuals and churches that then lead to strong relationships with other disciples, resulting in the love of Christ being shared and the journey of discipleship continuing.

Impact Missions accomplishes this goal through a variety of hands-on mission experiences as well as opportunities for financial support, prayer, training, and relationship. We are all on this journey together, and we gladly walk alongside you knowing we are better together than we are alone.

We connect, serve, and thrive to change the world–one mission experience at a time!

Serve with Impact Disaster Response

Mobilizing Volunteers to Provide High-Quality Services to Meet Human Needs After a Disaster

When a disaster strikes a community, we all want to do something. But how we help is as important as being willing to help. With our training, partnerships, and experiences behind you, you and your church can help people facing all the challenges a storm presents.

Ways we serve:

• Feeding affected communities and responders

• Cleanup of flood-damaged homes – tear-out and mold remediation

• Chainsaw work – clearing downed trees

• Long-term Rebuild – restoring families to their homes, in a condition as good as or better than it was before the storm

• Crisis care – chaplains providing emotional and spiritual support to people impacted by the disaster

• NEW! Tiny Home Initiative to provide temporary or permanent housing to those whose homes are completely destroyed by storms

Serve in Community Missions

Equipping Disciples to Transform Communities

Our Community Missions initiative invites pastors and lay leaders to reimagine how the local church engages its neighborhood—cultivating discipleship that includes learning and action, equipping disciples of Jesus to apply what they learn by investing in and strengthening their communities. By leveraging tools like Asset-Based Community Development, rethinking familiar programs, and exploring innovative approaches to building Christ-centered relationships beyond the sanctuary, our team equips churches to become active, compassionate participants in the lives of those who may never walk through church doors on a Sunday morning—but who deeply need the hope and healing of Jesus.

We are developing tools to help:

• Bridge the gap between traditional church life and communitybased ministry.

• Find a network of support with others pursuing similar missional goals.

• Offer training and resources for effective ministry outside the sanctuary.

• Understand Asset-Based Community Development to identify and leverage community and congregational strengths and potential partnerships.

• Reimagine building disciples inside and outside the building through sustainable community engagement.

• Make missional living in everyday spaces part of what it means to be a follower of Jesus.

Serve with Youth Missions

Ways we serve:

• Impact Mission Camp - Impact Mission Camps are a construction-based mission experience for youth in middle and high school. During camp, youth and their leaders work on projects to help keep homeowners safe, warm, and dry. In the evenings, participants are engaged in worship and activities to foster spiritual growth and deepen relationships within their church groups.

• Camp Staff Positions - Impact Mission Camps invite college-aged adults to make service a part of their summer through a five-week paid position as camp staff. Young adults will have the opportunity to grow in faith and leadership through a summer of leading students, engaging with community members, and leaning into their God-given gifts and talents.

• Retreats for Youth - Every fall, churches are invited to bring their middle- and high-school students to an engaging weekend retreat experience at Eagle Eyrie Conference Center in Lynchburg, VA. Students participate in worship, breakouts, and fun free time with other students. This experience is an opportunity for participants to grow in faith and make fun memories with their youth group.

READY TO SERVE: Spend time in Bible study, consider what God may be calling you to do, and prepare as a church to serve together.

COMMUNITY MISSIONS: There is a mission field just beyond your sanctuary doors. Go on a prayer walk in the neighborhood surrounding your church and ask God to show you where you can meaningfully engage your neighbors.

CHURCH PLANTING: Your church can plan a Zoom prayer meeting together with one of the indigenous church planters we support.

VOLUNTEER APPRECIATION: Express appreciation for the people who volunteer their time in your church to serve within and outside its walls.

DISASTER PREPAREDNESS: Hurricane Preparedness Week is May 1-7. Your church can train and form local partnerships so you’ll be ready to respond wherever disaster strikes.

FOCUS:REFUGEES: Your church can provide childcare and transportation this month for a local driver’s license training group for asylees.

PARTNERING WELL: Partnership strengthens ministry—generations within the church can serve and learn together, and churches and organizations can unite to make a greater impact. Find a partner this month and serve together!

YOUTH MISSIONS: Focus on ways to involve youth in community mission and service opportunities in August.

DISASTER RECOVERY: September is National Preparedness Month, and we focus on long-term recovery. When a disaster happens, long after the initial outpouring of support, our teams remain—rebuilding homes and restoring lives.

HUNGER: Food scarcity is unfortunately a common concern across the world, including in Virginia. BGAV’s Hunger Offering provides funds to dozens of partners who are working to eliminate hunger in their communities.

THANKFULNESS: Give thanks for God’s gifts and for the opportunity to share God’s love in your community and around the world.

GENEROSITY: During this season of giving, celebrate the ways we can embody the hope, peace, joy and love that we are called to share with the world.

Serve in International Missions

Transcending Geographical, Cultural, and Political Boundaries as Part of the Global Church

International Missions provides ways for us to connect with our sisters and brothers from around the world, so we can help each other address community needs, support ministries, and pursue the unity which is central to our Christian witness.

Learning from each other in mutually transformative relationships is foundational to our approach to International Missions. We focus on long-term partnerships which allow us to appreciate each other’s gifts, develop trust, and share insights into each other’s situations.

We would like to see every local church collaborating with an international partner in their ministry efforts. We believe that sharing spiritual and physical resources helps all of us to discover new ways to more fully respond to God’s call to bless our respective communities.

We want to help communities develop capacity to provide for their children and build a thriving future. Your church can invest in sustainable change through prayer, church-to-community partnerships, and several Nourish To Flourish initiatives that combat malnutrition, increase water security, and provide training in

For over 20 years BGAV has sponsored indigenous church planters in Eastern Europe, Central Asia, and the Middle East. Your church can personally engage with the planters we support, encouraging them and energizing your congregation. In addition we are involved in indigenous church planting in Ghana and in Kenya.

Ways we serve:

• European Baptist Federation

• Ghana

• Kenya going deeper

When churches collaborate, they can encourage and inspire each other in identifying a mission roadmap, as well as provide constructive assessment and suggestions. In our international mission partnerships we get to compare experiences across cultural and geographical boundaries. Sometimes that helps us better understand what is faith and what is a cultural habit. It is also a valuable resource in identifying ways to live out our faith in our own community, and an expression of our unity in Christ around the globe.

Not all impacts can be measured.

Our IMPACT is more about stories and relationships than finances. But we believe it to be important that people see how the gifts entrusted to us are utilized. If you want to discover the stories and relationships, we invite you to sign up for our newsletter, visit our website, or go with us on a mission experience to see your gifts in action.

• You will notice the majority of these gifts were given to our disaster response ministry following the destruction from Hurricane Helene, which affected the western part of Virginia on September 27, 2024. Virginia Baptists have been very generous with these specific gifts and the cleanup and rebuild continued throughout 2025.
