NOTE FROM THE DIRECTORS
In This Girl Laughs, This Girl Cries, This Girl Does Nothing, Finegan Kruckemeyer offers us a story that is both epic and intimate—a fable that stretches across time and geography yet remains rooted in the emotional truths of three sisters navigating grief, identity and transformation.
Our production embraces storyteller theatre as a guiding convention. Rather than hiding behind illusion, we lean into the act of storytelling itself—actors stepping in and out of character, narrating their own journeys, and inviting the audience to co-create the world with us. This approach honors the play’s lyrical structure and its invitation to imagine boldly.
Storyteller theatre allows us to strip away spectacle and focus on the essentials: voice, gesture, rhythm, and ensemble. It’s a form that celebrates the power of language and the communal experience of theatre. In this space, forests emerge from words, oceans from movement, and time from breath. The audience becomes a vital participant—not just watching the story unfold but helping to shape it through their own imagination.
This play reminds us that there is no single way to respond to loss or to grow into ourselves. Whether we move forward, backward, or stay in the same place, we are always becoming. And through storytelling, we find connection—not only to each other, but to the stories that make us who we are.
