RUNNER’S

“WELCOME TO ULTRA-TRAIL SNOWDONIA BY UTMB. IT’S GREAT TO HAVE YOU HERE AND READY TO TAKE ON UTS IN THE MOUNTAINS OF ERYRI.”

“Before anything else, make sure you are prepared. Take time to understand your route, your timings and the specific demands of your race. Conditions in Eryri can change quickly, and the terrain will test you throughout. Being ready is a key part of the experience.

You will soon discover what makes UTS unique. This is not a course that eases you in. The climbs are steep, the trails are technical and the mountains demand your full attention from start to finish. Whether you get clear views or low cloud, it’s an environment that leaves a lasting impression.

As you move through this landscape, remember that we are guests here. Eryri is a protected environment and home to both wildlife and local communities. Please stay on marked paths, carry all waste with you and treat the surroundings with respect so that others can enjoy it long into the future.

This event is only possible thanks to the people who call this area home. We are incredibly grateful to the landowners, local communities and businesses who support UTS and allow us access to these trails.

You will also be supported by an outstanding team of volunteers and crew across the course. They give their time and energy in all conditions to keep the event running safely and smoothly. A quick thank you as you pass goes a long way.

Above all, this is your challenge. Run your own race, look out for others and take in the experience as it unfolds around you.

We look forward to seeing you on the start line.”

EVENT SCHEDULE

PARKING

Parking in Llanberis is limited, especially during the busy event weekend, so all runners are strongly encouraged to plan ahead and use the official event parking. A Park & Ride system operates from designated car parks to the north of Llanberis and near Bangor, with regular shuttle buses taking you directly to the Ultra-Trail Village.

Car park passes must be booked in advance via your MyUTMB account and include shuttle access for the duration of your race weekend. Runners staying locally are encouraged to walk where possible, while car sharing is recommended to reduce congestion and environmental impact.

LLANBERIS

For safety reasons, you will not be permitted to sleep in your vehicle overnight.

Strict parking restrictions will be in place across Llanberis and surrounding areas for the duration of the event. Please follow all signage and guidance from event staff and local authorities, as illegal or unsafe parking may result in fines or towing.

PUBLIC TRANSPORT

We are running a shuttle service from Bangor train station to make travel to the Ultra-Trail Village straightforward. The shuttle service is subject to a fee and must be booked in advance via your MyUTMB account.

Wherever possible, consider walking if you are staying locally or car sharing to help reduce congestion and minimise environmental impact.

INCLUSIVITY

We believe a women’s place is on the start line and at Ultra-Trail Snowdonia by UTMB® we are actively including and encouraging greater female participation at the event. To promote greater equity and adaptability for women in trail running, the UTMB® World Series is implementing dedicated measures to ensure its races meet the specific needs of female athletes, offering services that facilitate their participation and enhance their experience in the sport.

FOR THIS PURPOSE, THE ORGANISATION OF ULTRA-TRAIL SNOWDONIA BY UTMB® IS FOLLOWING THE BELOW INITIATIVES AT THE EVENT:

We use inclusive imagery (men / women / under-represented groups) within our event day coverage and on our website and social media throughout the year.

There are female only toilets at the start, finish and at each aid station within our races. We provide female sanitary and period products at these toilets. Our volunteers are briefed that these toilets are only for women.

We acknowledge the importance of female safety and all our aid stations are staffed with a mixture of male and female volunteers.

Equal coverage and airtime is given to both the men’s and women’s races on social media on race day.

Our media staff are provided with gender and diversity guidance to a create wide selection of images.

Wave starts give better visibility of women at the front of our start lines as well as more room to race.

PATH TO PARENTHOOD

UTMB recognises that the journey to parenthood is unique and can impact training and racing in different ways. To better support women and families, the UTMB World Series has introduced policies that allow pregnant athletes, those with pregnant partners, or those adopting or using surrogacy to defer their race entries or receive refunds, with priority access to return in future years.

These initiatives are designed to remove barriers and encourage more women to stay involved in trail running before, during and after parenthood. By offering flexibility, understanding, and equal opportunities, UTMB aims to create a more inclusive environment where athletes can balance family life with their ambitions on the trails.

PERFORMANCE STARTS IN YOUR HEAD.

REUSE, REPAIR & RECYCLE

Pair Ups will be offering you the chance to repair your trainer uppers FREE OF CHARGE to all runners and supporters (while supplies last).

Head to the Pair Ups tent, leave your shoes and pick them up when they’re fixed on the Friday, Saturday or Sunday. If you’d like to leave them for longer, then all they ask for is just the return postage and packaging (P&P) to send them back to your home.

SNOWDONIA GEAR REPAIR

The Snowdonia Gear Repair team will be available for in-person-on-the-day repairs to all runners and supporters and will include repairs such as:

• Heat Patches - £18

• Zip Slider Replacements – From £18

• Hand Stitching – From £10

• Seam Taping (per ½ metre) – £20

Larger repair jobs are also available where items can be left and posted back. This includes repairs to waterproof jackets, insulated down jackets, running vests and backpacks.

THE SNOWDONIA SOCIETY

The Snowdonia Society / Cymdeithas Eryri plays a vital role in protecting and preserving the landscapes we’re privileged to run through. Their work helps keep Eryri’s paths, wildlife and environment in good condition for everyone. We encourage all runners to visit their stand in the Ultra-Trail Village to learn more about their impact and, if you can, support them with a donation.

TRASH FREE TRAILS EXIST TO PROTECT OUR TRAILS AND THE WILD PLACES THEY TAKE US TO.

I’m ‘just’ a runner, what can I do? Plenty!

Ultimately, the success of a ‘Trash Free Race’ will depend upon all individuals involved coming together to bring the event to life! Here’s what YOU can do to care for the trails at Ultra Trail Snowdonia:

Bring your own coffee cup or a cheeky postrace beer vessel of your choosing

Pick up 5 items of trash when you’re on the trails, or as much as you can fit in a pocket! Tell us what items you find quickly and easily here to contribute to our in field research.

TREES NOT TEES

After a successful collaboration in 2025, we’re proud to continue our partnership with Trees not Tees for the 2026 edition of Ultra-Trail Snowdonia by UTMB.

Over 500 of you have chosen to plant a tree instead of receiving a race tee, helping to restore UK woodlands and reducing waste. Visit their WEBSITE or social media to find out more.

SAFETY

ENVIRONMENT & WEATHER

Weather conditions in the UK can often change multiple times a day, with coastal and mountainous regions known for experiencing very quick alterations in temperature, wind speeds and visibility.

The Race Committee reserve the right to modify the routes, cut-off times, aid station locations or any other aspects of the event. This may be necessary in situations of adverse weather. Where possible, races will remain within the same UTMB race category to allocate the same number of Running Stones to finishers.

Therefore, it is essential you download the LiveTrail app to your mobile phone and your mobile phone number is correct on your MyUTMB profile. Please ensure you have allowed notifications to be received.

Advice on the course:

• If you can’t find the next waymarker, turn around to find the last marker.

• Stay on the paths

FOOD & HYDRATION

Fluid and food intake should be adapted to weather conditions and fortified with salt throughout the duration of the event. Maintain a good balance between slow and fast sugars.

FATIGUE & ATTENTION

Places are provided at aid station points to rest and sleep for a while. It is dangerous to sleep alone in the wild. Fatigue and lack of alertness can be the cause of an accident. Run below your capacity (especially in the first part) to save energy for difficult situations such as a sudden change of weather.

LIVETRAIL

The app is the main tool for ensuring your safety as well as providing you with valuable race information (real-time tracking of your race and that of your friends).

In case of an emergency, the application allows you to send directly to the organization an SOS via text message giving your GPS position. This helps you to save precious time. It does not however mean that you do not make a call to the Race HQ. It is mandatory to have a working and charged mobile telephone that works in the UK. Do not set your mobile phone to airplane mode under any circumstances, as we need to be able to contact you before, during and after the race. We strongly recommended installing and using the LiveTrail® application on smartphones, which is essential for your safety.

For runners who will spend more than 15 hours in the race, are advised to bring an external battery. Make sure that the emergency number you provide is the number of the person you want to be alerted in case of a problem. Very important: To improve your support, check that you have filled in your phone number in your account during the race. You can update it right up to the start of your Race.

The race bib must be worn on the chest or stomach and must remain permanently and completely visible during the whole race. The race bib must be always placed on top of all clothing and must not be placed on the leg or race pack. We recommend using a race belt for ease of race bib position.

The participant’s name and partner logos must not be altered or hidden. The race bib is your access to the race start, aid stations, medical points, showers, drop bag collection, and DNF repatriation service.

Your wave is based on your UTMB Index and will be shown on your bib. Requests to move up waves are not allowed and anyone who does so will be penalised

100M : 1 WAVE ‒ 14:00

100K : 1 WAVE ‒ 05:30

80K : 2 WAVES ‒ 19:30 / 19:45

50K : 3 WAVES ‒ 08:30 / 08:45 / 09:00

MANDATORY KIT

Each participant must carry with them all the items listed in the mandatory kit checklist from the website and take all the clothing and equipment with them during the race.

There will be randomised checks at the start line. A penalty up to disqualification will be applied to participants who do not have any of the individual mandatory kit items with them when inspected.

Due to the long duration of the event, participants should ensure their electronic devices last throughout by planning for sufficient battery life, such as using charge-on-the-go options or carrying spare batteries.

LEFT LUGGAGE AT FINISH

The bag drop marquee will accept one small bag per runner (max 30 litres) for all runners to leave at the finish for collection post race. Please write your number on the bag tag provided. Bags must be handed in before travelling on the coach transfers. Suitcases, holdalls or tents will not be accepted.

WITHDRAWING FROM THE RACE

If you leave the race, please call the command centre or alert the captain of the aid station that you are withdrawing from the race. You can also use Live trail app to declare your withdrawal.

Be careful that your withdrawal is registered, if you do not do so and we launch the safety procedure, you will be charged a fee.

If you withdraw, you can be transported back to the main venue and the Eco Park. Please ask the aid station captain or the command centre.

WAYMARKING

UTS is a waymarked course. All race routes will be identified by a series of small, high-visibility, waymarkers along the course for you to follow. These are either flags placed into the ground, yellow streamers attached to tree branches or rocks, or plastic directional arrows on gates, stiles or signposts.

Waymarkers are made from high contrast red and white fabric. They include reflective material to ensure they are visible at night and reflect your headtorch light. To protect the environment we do not use paint on the trails.

CUT-OFF TIMES

Cut-off times are calculated to allow participants to reach the finish in the maximum amount of time allowed and are indicated on the course profile and course information on the website.

The cut-off time indicated for an aid station is the latest time a participant must leave the venue. Anyone who has not left an aid station by this time will be withdrawn from the race immediately.

POLES

If you choose to take poles, they must be carried for the duration of the race. If you decide to use poles, it is forbidden to start without poles and then collect them during the race. No poles are allowed to be stored in the drop-bags.

The use of poles will be forbidden in certain zones along the route marked by specific signs, for noise, safety or environmental reasons.

MEDICAL

Mountain Safety Team and Medical Team staff are positioned at specific locations along each course. They are able to respond to serious medical concerns or emergencies should any of our participants get into severe difficulty and need assistance quickly.

Please remember: it is a participant’s responsibility to manage physical problems arising from muscle or articular pains, small wounds, etc.

If a participant is in distress, or becomes seriously hurt, they should alert the organisers as follows:

1. Tell the Medical Team at the next aid station.

2. Tell the Mountain Safety Team on the course.

3. Call the emergency phone (number on race bib) +44 (0)1615 530 664.

If a participant is unable to move, and cannot call Event Control by using their mobile phone, they should:

1. Press the SOS button on their GPS tracker (UTS 100M, UTS 100K and UTS 80K only).

2. Use their headtorch and whistle to attract attention from another participant.

A participant must give help to any person they see in danger and alert the organisers as soon as possible.

IT IS MANDATORY NOT TO LEAVE A PERSON IN DIFFICULTY ALONE

REDUCED PLASTIC AT AID STATIONS

To reduce unnecessary plastic waste there will be no single use plastic (such as cutlery, cups or bowls) available at aid stations. You need to bring your own utensils if you wish to eat hot meals or drinks at the aid stations.

Littering is strictly forbidden. Participants must keep rubbish and wrappers (including gels, plastics, paper and organic waste) until they can deposit them responsibly in the bin at an aid station. Participants will be issued with a small, reusable waste bag at registration to store all your waste items while on the trails.

Please separate your rubbish at the aid stations so we can ensure the correct items are recycled. Organic waste such as leftover bars, fruit skins etc. should be disposed in the appropriate bins.

Used singular batteries can be deposited at an aid station and we will recycle these for you.

RESPECT FOR THE NATURAL PROTECTED AREAS

LIVESTOCK AND ANIMALS

You are recommended to stay as far away from livestock as possible while passing through farmland. Do not interfere with, or attempt to touch, sheep, lambs or cattle. If you see livestock in distress do not approach them but please report to the next aid station.

TOILET USE

Toilets are provided for you at all aid stations on the course, and at the race start and finish. We recommend you plan your toilet stops in advance to prevent needing the toilet while on the trail. If you have to go, all your waste must be collected and disposed of properly.

STAY ON WAYMARKED PATHS

We are privileged to run through stunning yet sensitive National Nature Reserves. These will be signposted at the entry and exit. You must follow the waymarking accurately to prevent damage to the flora and fauna. You must remain on the chosen path. Do not take short cuts.

GATES, FENCES AND STILES

You must close all gates, even if another participant is approaching behind you. It is vital gates are closed to protect livestock from mixing. This is a serious and important aspect of farming life in Eryri. If in doubt, please close the gate. You will be penalised if caught leaving a gate open.

BIOSECURITY IN THE FORESTS

Trees and plants in Britain are increasingly at risk from new pests and diseases due to climate change and global travel. Forests in Eryri (Snowdonia) are especially vulnerable, so your help is essential. To prevent the spread of disease, arrive in Llanberis with clean footwear, clothing, and poles, ensuring all mud and dirt from previous runs are thoroughly removed.

RESIDENTIAL AREA QUIET ZONES

UTS 100M, UTS 100K and UTS 80K participants pass through villages at night, so keep noise to a minimum to avoid disturbing residents and animals. In residential areas, do not use walking poles on hard ground and avoid shining headtorches into homes.

SHARING THE TRAILS

During Ultra-Trail Snowdonia, Eryri’s trails are shared with many visitors, so participants must always be respectful and aware of others. Runners do not have priority and should give way to walkers, especially families, slowing or stopping when needed and communicating when passing. Set in the centre of Llanberis, the Ultra-Trail Village is the beating heart of the Ultra-Trail Snowdonia by UTMB weekend. We welcome runners, supporters, friends and family to soak up the atmosphere in this lively space, built around the iconic start and finish line. It is a place to connect with the trail-running community, meet our World Series partners, chat with leading brands, try out products, join in community runs, and enjoy a taste of the local food scene, all in one dynamic outdoor setting.

Throughout the weekend, you will also find inspiring community initiatives, including Snowdonia Gear Repair, Pair Ups, and Trash Free Trails, who will have a dedicated stand where you can chat all things trail care, sustainability, and positive trail action.

The Ultra-Trail Village is more than just an event hub. It is the ideal spot to refuel, recover, and reflect after your run. Share stories with fellow runners, celebrate your achievements, and enjoy great local food while supporting nearby businesses.
