AN ISLAND THAT MOVES US Mallorca has a special way of staying with those who explore it. Its mountains, trails, villages, and the Mediterranean are all part of an identity shaped over generations. At the heart of this landscape lies the Serra de Tramuntana, a UNESCO World Heritage Site and the undisputed protagonist of Mallorca by UTMB®. Running through it is a privilege. And also, a responsibility. That is why Mallorca by UTMB® wants to be part of the island with respect, building connections with the people who live here and supporting initiatives that help preserve its heritage, environment, and community. RUNNING WITH THE LAND Our partnership with the Sóller Agricultural Cooperative reflects our commitment to the land and to the people who work to keep it alive. Founded in 1899 and made up of more than 400 members, the Cooperative is part of the agricultural history of the Sóller Valley. Once again this year, its products will be available at the Mallorca by UTMB® aid stations, bringing local produce to runners while strengthening our commitment to local sourcing and the local economy. CARING FOR OUR SURROUNDINGS The Serra de Tramuntana is much more than the setting for a sporting event. It is a natural heritage that deserves to be protected. Through UTMB® Cares, we support initiatives aimed at preserving the environment, protecting biodiversity, and contributing to the conservation of the natural heritage of the Balearic Islands. Because running through a territory also means taking responsibility for caring for it.
6
EVERY ACHIEVEMENT COUNTS Inclusion is also part of the way we understand the event. The official Mallorca by UTMB® trophies are once again being made by Estel Nou, an association that works to improve the quality of life of people with disabilities and their families in Sóller and other parts of the Balearic Islands. In this way, each trophy represents not only a sporting achievement, but also the work and commitment of a community. RUNNING WITH PURPOSE Sport is a powerful tool capable of creating a positive impact beyond competition. The Charity Bibs, promoted through UTMB® Cares, allow runners to contribute to this purpose and support initiatives working for people, communities, and the environment. This year, the funds raised will support 1 KM DE VIDA, an initiative by the Unoentrecienmil Foundation that promotes research into childhood leukemia; as well as restoration work at the Jardí Naturalista de la Flora Balear Germà Macià, run by the Santuari de Lluc Foundation, a space dedicated to preserving the biodiversity of the Balearic Islands that was affected by Storm Juliette in 2023. Two projects, one shared purpose: to ensure that sport can also transform the world around it. Because Mallorca by UTMB® doesn’t just run through a territory. It is part of it. Every trail we cross has a story. And every step can help keep that story alive.
WELCOME TO MALLORCA BY UTMB®
Perquè Mallorca by UTMB® no només recorre un territori. Forma part d’ell. Cada sender que travessem té una història. I cada passa pot contribuir a fer que continuï viva.

MALLORCA BY UTMB® EVERY STEP, A STORY
Mallorca by UTMB® offers a different way to discover an island where sea and mountains, tradition and nature, small villages and unforgettable landscapes come together. Because Mallorca would not be the same without its mountains, its trails, and the stories that have unfolded around them. Among all its landscapes, the Serra de Tramuntana holds a special place. A defining symbol of the island, it is a land where every trail, every stone, and every village holds centuries of history. Declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 2011, the Serra de Tramuntana is a unique example of how humans and nature have coexisted for generations. Its landscapes reflect a balanced relationship between mountains, water, and tradition, shaped by the efforts of the people who have made this extraordinary environment their home. Along the Mallorca by UTMB® routes, you will cross some of the island’s most spectacular places: historic paths, Mediterranean forests, peaks overlooking the sea, and landscapes that change with every step. A land of contrasts where mountains, the Mediterranean, and local culture come together. But Mallorca is also about its villages. Places such as Sóller and Port de Sóller, Deià, Valldemossa, Bunyola, and Estellencs, among many others, preserve the essence of an island deeply rooted in its traditions, architecture, and a way of life shaped by the relationship between mountain and sea. Running Mallorca by UTMB® means discovering much more than a route. It means immersing yourself in the island’s history, exploring a unique land, and becoming part of a connection that has been built over centuries. Because at Mallorca by UTMB®, every step takes you through a landscape. And every landscape has a story to tell.

Mountains offer us much more than a setting in which to compete. They are places of biodiversity, culture, history and life. That is why those of us who enjoy them also share the responsibility of taking care of them. With this commitment comes UTMB® for the Planet, the sustainability strategy of UTMB® Group, an initiative aimed at reducing the impact of events, protecting natural environments and leaving a positive legacy in every territory that is part of the UTMB® World Series. UTMB® for the Planet is a way of understanding trail running: enjoying the mountains while respecting them, working together with the communities that live there, and ensuring that future generations can continue to experience the same things. This commitment is built around three main pillars: TERRITORY Every race leaves a footprint. The aim is for that footprint to be a positive one, by collaborating with local projects, supporting the conservation of natural heritage and creating a legacy that remains long after crossing the finish line. ENVIRONMENT Taking care of the trails, mountains and landscapes that make our sport possible, while promoting initiatives that help preserve ecosystems and minimise our impact on nature. PEOPLE Trail running is a diverse and open community. That is why UTMB® works to create increasingly safe, inclusive and accessible events, placing the wellbeing of runners, volunteers and local communities at the heart of every decision.

SÓLLER AGRICULTURAL COOPERATIVE TERRITORY
For the second consecutive year, Mallorca by UTMB® is working with the Sóller Agricultural Cooperative, one of the first agricultural cooperatives in Spain. Founded in 1899 and currently made up of more than 400 members, the Cooperative works to preserve the landscape, agriculture and identity of the Sóller Valley. “For the Cooperative, as well as for agriculture, it is important to be part of any event that shares our values. It is essential to showcase the culture, products and gastronomy of the area, and thanks to these events, this is possible,” explains Lina Amengual, manager of the Cooperative. AID STATIONS WITH LOCAL PRODUCTS Through this partnership, all Mallorca by UTMB® aid stations will once again feature local products, reaffirming our commitment to local sourcing, supporting nearby producers and contributing to the sustainability and development of our community. “It is always important to consume local products whenever possible. We need to know the food calendar, because consuming products in season allows us to enjoy their authentic flavours and aromas, while also supporting the circular economy, helping to maintain farmland and preventing its abandonment.” For the Cooperative’s manager, Mallorca by UTMB®’s commitment to local products is also a way of recognising the work behind every food product. “We are very proud to be able to help and contribute our small part to this event”.
MORE THAN A CENTURY OF CARING FOR THE TERRITORY The history of the Cooperative is closely linked to that of the Serra de Tramuntana, which was declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 2011 as a Cultural Landscape. This recognition highlights the relationship between nature and the work of generations of people who have cultivated and shaped this territory. “We feel fortunate to be able to contribute to the preservation of the Serra de Tramuntana, while also feeling responsible for maintaining this status,” says Lina Amengual. “We have to be aware that farmers are the ‘gardeners’ of the Serra de Tramuntana. Thanks to them, the work they do and the animals that help them with their tasks, we can help prevent fires”. The Cooperative contributes to maintaining this activity by supporting farmers, managing grants to preserve the dry-stone terraces, providing technical advice and offering the training needed to work the land and tackle pests and other challenges. Because preserving the Tramuntana also means keeping alive the work of those who have cared for it for generations. DISCOVERING MALLORCA BEYOND SUMMER The collaboration between Mallorca by UTMB® and the Cooperative also aims to introduce runners to a Mallorca that remains vibrant once the summer season comes to an end. “We want Mallorca by UTMB® runners to discover our autumn season, beyond summer. We still have great hikes, gastronomy and traditional festivals that are worth discovering”, concludes Amengual.

FUNDACIÓ SANTUARI DE LLUC ENVIRONMENT
Through UTMB® Cares, Mallorca by UTMB® allocates part of the funds raised through the Charity Bibs to various preservation initiatives at the Germà Macià Naturalist Garden of Balearic Flora, carried out by the Fundació Santuari de Lluc. The Germà Macià Naturalist Garden, located at the Santuari de Lluc, is a space dedicated to the conservation and promotion of the native and endemic flora of the Balearic Islands. Its origins date back to 1956, when it was conceived as a place of rest and meditation for the religious community of the Sanctuary. Over time, the curiosity of students and visitors wishing to discover Mallorca’s flora led to its expansion, eventually becoming the garden it is today.
A HERITAGE TO SHARE For the Fundació Santuari de Lluc, this collaboration is also an opportunity to highlight the value of this space and bring it closer to those who have yet to discover it. “It means highlighting the value of our garden and making it known to people who may not be aware of its existence, thanks to this wonderful initiative,” says Prior Marià Gastalver Martí. A collaboration that brings sport and the territory together to help preserve a small refuge of Mallorca’s biodiversity.
Located around 500 metres above sea level, it is a unique botanical garden designed to showcase plant species in an environment similar to their natural habitat. Its lakes and waterfalls also provide a water-rich setting that welcomes and attracts a variety of bird species. RESTORING A UNIQUE SPACE In February 2023, Storm Juliette caused significant damage to the garden, resulting in the loss of centuries-old trees and numerous other specimens. Thanks to the work of volunteer groups, the space has been restored and is once again open to the public. The support from UTMB Cares will allow the garden to continue its maintenance, cleaning and species recovery work, as well as the upkeep of the different elements that make up the garden’s paths and spaces, both in the botanical area and the arboretum. “Their support will contribute to the care and maintenance of all the elements that make up the garden’s paths and spaces, both the botanical area and the arboretum,” explains Prior Marià Gastalver Martí.

ESTEL NOU PEOPLE
ESTEL NOU TROPHIES A recognition that also celebrates inclusion. Inclusion is an integral part of Mallorca by UTMB®’s identity. That is why the event’s official trophies are made by Asociación Estel Nou, an organisation that works to improve the quality of life of people with disabilities and their families in Sóller and across the Balearic Islands. Each trophy represents much more than a sporting achievement. It is also a way of highlighting Estel Nou’s work and supporting a community committed to inclusion. Because crossing the finish line is a reason to celebrate. And receiving a trophy made by Estel Nou makes that moment a recognition that goes beyond sport.
18
CHARITY BIBS Mallorca by UTMB® sees sport as a tool capable of creating a positive impact beyond competition. That is why, once again this year, the event is promoting the Charity Bibs initiative, allowing runners to take part in the race while contributing to projects linked to solidarity, health, inclusion and environmental protection. Through UTMB® Cares, the non-profit foundation created by UTMB® Group, the funds raised are allocated to local initiatives selected for their commitment to people, communities and the environment. UTMB® Cares was created with the aim of bringing together the international trail running community and harnessing the power of the sport to generate positive change in the territories that host races in the circuit. Its actions are based on values such as solidarity, respect, inclusion, authenticity and humility, working around three main pillars: people, the environment and local communities.
At Mallorca by UTMB®, Charity Bibs give every kilometre run an added purpose. This year, the funds raised will go towards two projects that represent the event’s commitment to Mallorca and its people.
SPORT LEAVES A LASTING MARK WHEN IT ALSO HELPS IMPROVE THE WORLD AROUND IT.
FUNDACIÓN UNOENTRECIENMIL Research and Hope in the Fight Against Childhood Leukaemia. Unoentrecienmil has been working since 2012 to promote research into childhood leukaemia and help more children and teenagers overcome the disease through better treatments with fewer side effects. The funds allocated to this foundation will support the “1 KM DE VIDA” initiative, a charity project inspired by the story of Mia, a girl who overcame Burkitt lymphoma, and which turns sport into a tool for hope and support for families facing this reality. FUNDACIÓ SANTUARI DE LLUC Protecting the Natural Heritage of the Serra de Tramuntana. Mallorca by UTMB® is also strengthening its commitment to the local territory by supporting the Fundació Santuari de Lluc and restoration work at the Jardí Naturalista de la Flora Balear Germà Macià. Located in the heart of the Serra de Tramuntana, this space works to preserve biodiversity and protect endemic and native species of the Balearic Islands. Following the damage caused by Storm Juliette in 2023, this collaboration will contribute to its restoration and conservation.

7 KILOMETRES TO KEEP A LEGACY ALIVE The Memorial Guillem Sec joins Mallorca by UTMB® as a 7-kilometre charity race along the Mediterranean. A sporting challenge created to remember, share and, above all, add kilometres to the fight against childhood cancer.
SOME SOME RACES RACES ARE ARE MEASURED MEASURED IN IN KILOMETRES, KILOMETRES, ELEVATION ELEVATION GAIN, GAIN, OR OR TIME. TIME. OTHERS OTHERS ARE ARE ABOUT ABOUT SOMETHING SOMETHING MUCH MUCH BIGGER: BIGGER: THE THE REASON REASON THAT THAT BRINGS BRINGS US US TO TO THE THE START START LINE. LINE. The Memorial Guillem Sec belongs to the latter. A 7-kilometre race taking in some of the most iconic corners of Port de Sóller, with the Mediterranean always in sight and the Serra de Tramuntana as its backdrop. But its finish line represents something far beyond sport: supporting the fight against childhood cancer. The race honours Guiem Coll Bestard, “Sec”, one of the driving forces behind the 1 Km de Vida charity initiative in Sóller. A project born from the desire to turn sport and personal challenges into a way of raising funds for childhood cancer research and supporting children affected by the disease and their families. Guiem passed away after a long battle with cancer, but he left behind a powerful legacy of solidarity in Sóller, Fornalutx, and the surrounding area. A spirit that now continues to travel across the trails of Mallorca through this Memorial.

From Sa Creu Lighthouse to Cap Gros Lighthouse, with the sea by your side The route starts in a privileged setting: Sa Creu Lighthouse, in Port de Sóller. From there, participants will follow the coastline towards Cap Gros Lighthouse, enjoying spectacular views over the harbour, the Mallorcan coastline and the mountains of the Serra de Tramuntana. After reaching the Muleta area, the route heads back towards the finish line, completing a fast and accessible out-and-back course designed to enjoy the surroundings and share a day where sport and solidarity go hand in hand. Because this time, crossing the finish line will mean something different. When a race bib becomes a helping hand The Memorial also aims to turn every entry into a direct contribution. Funds raised through racebib sales, excluding the 8% corresponding to administrative management costs, together with 100% of voluntary donations, will be donated to Fundación Unoentrecienmil, an organisation dedicated to supporting research to find a cure for childhood cancer. Those who wish to contribute beyond their race entry will also be able to make a charitable donation. 7 kilometres to run, remember and contribute. Seven kilometres along the Mediterranean to keep a legacy alive and show that when sport is put in the service of a cause, every kilometre counts.

WOMEN WHO ARE PAVING THE WAY.
22
.
At Mallorca by UTMB®, we believe that sport has the power to transform realities and create spaces where everyone can feel represented. That is why one of our main commitments is to promote women’s participation in mountain races and contribute to making trail running an increasingly open, diverse and equal discipline. The presence of women in trail running not only represents progress towards equal opportunities, but also enriches the sport with new role models, inspiring stories and a stronger community. Creating safe environments, breaking down barriers and highlighting women who inspire other runners are essential steps for continued growth. With this goal in mind, Mallorca by UTMB® has introduced several initiatives to improve the experience of female participants: • Woman Kit, available at aid stations and the finish line, with essential hygiene products such as sanitary pads, tampons, intimate wipes and hand sanitiser. • Women-only toilets, offering greater comfort during the race. • Women’s changing rooms at the Alaró and Lluc aid stations with drop bags. • UTMB® Pregnancy Policy, a measure designed to support female runners through the different stages of their sporting lives. • Direct contact channel for female runners, a dedicated space to answer questions and provide support through an email address specifically for women: women.iberia@utmb.world. Trail running continues to move towards a more inclusive future, and at Mallorca by UTMB® we want to be part of that journey. Because every woman who takes the start, every story that is shared and every barrier that is overcome helps build a more open mountain for everyone.

NATALIA BERMÚDEZ DE CASTRO ANGULO, 34 years old, Spain. CDA. WHEN THE MOUNTAINS BECOME HOME I have always loved running in the mountains, but I started doing it more consciously in 2023. For more than ten years, I was a semi-professional short- and middle-distance triathlete, competing with several clubs as a HOKA Spain athlete. The arrival of my two children, in 2020 and 2024, and my love for the mountains gradually brought me closer to this wonderful sport. Triathlon has been a fundamental part of my life. I wouldn’t change a single thing about my past or any of the adventures I have experienced over the years. I owe this sport many lessons, unforgettable experiences and, above all, meeting the love of my life, Emilio Aguayo, a former professional long-distance triathlete and currently a Hyrox athlete. However, I feel that I have found my place running in the mountains, it is compatible with my work and family life, and it gives me the balance that is now my priority. I am truly happy every day I get to go out into the mountains. And now, as a La Sportiva Spain athlete, I still have a long way to go in this beautiful world, with many distances and disciplines to discover, and I am really looking forward to continuing to enjoy everything that lies ahead. 24
A CONSTANT SEARCH FOR BALANCE As part of this learning process in the world of mountain races, I also wanted to discover the different professional circuits, explore their essence and courses, and experience the atmosphere at each event. I also have a very special connection with Mallorca. It is an island that has always attracted me, and I am always looking for an excuse to return. For the past six years, my greatest challenge has always been finding a balance within family life: between being a mother, being myself, spending quality time with Emi, being an athlete and being a coach. Very often, it goes beyond time management and is more of a mental challenge that requires work and understanding, and that sometimes involves making difficult decisions.
MALLORCA, A NEW ADVENTURE I hope to enjoy it. Since I left high-level triathlon, this has been the promise I made to myself: to be the best version of myself, to feel the nature of the course, and to run for myself and for all the people I love and who support me every day. And hopefully, to feel good and be able to give it my all. Being part of this event and sharing the starting line with female runners from all over the world is a new opportunity: to meet new people, run alongside athletes of an incredibly high level, and share what we love most.
25
MALIN HJALMARSSON, 45 years old, Sweden. SDT. A NEW CHALLENGE AFTER CONQUERING THE WORLD For more than 20 years, Malin Hjalmarsson has competed in endurance sports at the highest level. A Swedish army officer and an international reference in Adventure Racing, she has stood on the podium at six World Championships, winning three gold medals, two silver medals and one bronze. But after so many years competing in this discipline, in 2026 she has decided to explore new challenges.
26
“I’m always impressed and motivated by the incredible speed of the world’s best athletes on courses like this. But what inspires me most is the inclusive atmosphere, especially the sense of community that women help to create. I feel that everyone standing on the starting line is already a winner, regardless of the result they achieve at the finish”. Her goal at Mallorca by UTMB® is simple: to enjoy the experience and give her very best. “I’m really looking forward to being on that starting line, with a mixture of excitement and nerves, not knowing how the race will unfold, but with one single goal: to give my very best”.
“Now that I have retired from Adventure Racing, at least for this year, I can finally try something new. I’ve never had the time to focus on long-distance trail races, but they have always been on my list of challenges to take on”. Mallorca by UTMB® will be her first major challenge on this new journey. An adventure that, as well as introducing her to a new discipline, will allow her to discover the island for the first time together with her family.
A LESSON “Train intelligently, stay true to my own circumstances, and never compare myself to what others are doing”.
“I’m really looking forward to exploring the island with them. My eight-year-old daughter is especially excited about swimming in the sea and going hiking in the mountains. I’m also looking forward to enjoying a beautiful but demanding course, with terrain that is very different from the mountains we have back home in Scandinavia. But above all, I’m excited to step outside my comfort zone, which is precisely what races like this represent”. After so many years competing at the highest level, Malin sees trail running as a new way of understanding sport: a space where performance goes hand in hand with community, and where everyone on the starting line shares the same passion. 27
ZUZANNA ŚMIGIEL, 34 years old, Poland. ETM. THE POWER OF CONSISTENCY Born in Poland and currently living abroad, Zuzanna Śmigiel has turned sport into a way of discovering the world on her own terms. Through races in deserts and mountains, she seeks new challenges that allow her to grow and discover how far she can go. Although she has always been involved in sport, it was after a period away from physical activity that she discovered her true passion for running. She had to start practically from scratch: she went from struggling to complete 2 kilometres to achieving a time of 40:16 in a 10K just eight months later. 28
Since then, running has become much more than a sport. “It is my lifestyle, my routine, my therapy, and a way to challenge myself every day. Rather than competing against others, I look for new challenges that allow me to grow and discover how far I can go”. 1,826 DAYS OF RUNNING EVERY DAY On 19 November 2021, Zuzanna began a challenge that seemed simple: running for 365 consecutive days. A personal promise to go for a run of at least 3 kilometres every day. But that initial challenge grew into something much bigger. One year became two. Two became three. Three became four. And now, five years later, that small promise has reached 1,826 consecutive days of running. “It was never about the distances. It became a daily practice of discipline, consistency, and keeping a promise to myself”. Along the way, there were runs around Vienna airport during long layovers, training sessions with migraines or stomach problems, and treadmill sessions at 2 a.m. in Jordan before a full day of travel.
“There were many days when skipping the run would have been easier, but this streak taught me that progress is built precisely on those days when motivation doesn’t show up”. For Zuzanna, it is these small daily steps that build great achievements. “Extraordinary achievements come from small, consistent actions repeated over time”. Running has become much more than a sport. It is a reflection of who I am. It represents commitment, discipline, and the belief that the excuses in our minds do not have to define our actions. After 1,826 consecutive days of running, the lesson is simple: consistency is far more powerful than intensity, and even the smallest daily commitment can transform into something much greater than you could ever have imagined. WOMEN WHO INSPIRE, WOMEN WHO RUN Her arrival at Mallorca by UTMB® also represents an opportunity to share the journey with other women who understand sport through passion and self-improvement. “For me, being on the starting line with women from all over the world is a celebration of what trail running represents and of what women can bring to this sport: incredible courage, unique mental strength, and an honest and pure passion for running. I find women in trail running incredibly inspiring because they have the power to support one another regardless of the circumstances”. A JOURNEY TOWARDS THE EXTRAORDINARY Mallorca by UTMB® will be a new chapter in a journey built one step at a time. “My journey towards Mallorca by UTMB® is a reminder that every small step, every difficult climb, and every moment shared along the way can lead us towards extraordinary adventures”.

Anna Haag, Olympic athlete, 40 years old, Sweden. CPS. FROM THE OLYMPIC GAMES TO THE MOUNTAINS OF MALLORCA A NEW WAY OF EXPERIENCING SPORT I am a former cross-country skier and competed in my last Olympic Games in 2018. During my career, I competed in three Olympic Games and won four medals: one gold and three silver. It was an incredible experience, and I absolutely loved both the sport and the training. But after so many years with results as the main goal, there came a point when I got a little tired of chasing seconds and trying to perfect every little detail. In 2019, we had our first child, a boy. Our second arrived in 2021, and our third four years after the first was born. So here I am, with three children in four years… a life full of energy and very little time to rest, but I love it! I never stopped training, either during my pregnancies or afterwards. 30
Training has always been my personal space and, once I had children, running became the easiest way to maintain it.
Then I saw my friend Emelie Forsberg talking about the race and, during a quiet moment sitting on the sofa at home, I clicked “Register”.
After my second child, I spent two seasons competing in long-distance cross-country skiing, but after the birth of our youngest, I shifted my focus more towards running and strength training.
And suddenly, I realized that one of my oldest running dreams was about to come true.
Today, I work as a women’s sports coach, so training is both my profession and my passion. If I had to describe myself, I would say that I am a woman living the best years of her life, with a high-energy family, and who enjoys helping other people discover the joy of training. Running has been part of my life since I was a child, and even more so since becoming a mother. A DREAM COME TRUE I have been to Mallorca many times for training camps and have always loved being in the mountains. About ten years ago, I dreamed of one day running across the entire mountain range of the island.
FINDING THE BALANCE With three children and a demanding job, the biggest challenge is always finding the right balance between training, family and work. I am used to training a lot, so learning to train better rather than simply training more has been one of my biggest challenges. I need to listen to my body, avoid overloading myself, and make sure that training adds to my life rather than taking it over. My body responds very quickly. If I push too hard, whether in training or at work, I usually end up getting sick. And if I get sick, I cannot train and I cannot be the mother I want to be either. So, without a doubt, finding the balance is my biggest challenge. 31
MALLORCA, AN ISLAND THAT HAS IT ALL I am really looking forward to enjoying the island’s incredible nature and wonderful mountains. During the race, I hope to find that perfect state of flow where I can genuinely feel that I have given everything when I cross the finish line. I am also really looking forward to spending a few extra days there with my family: hiking with the children and swimming in the sea. And, of course, the food! It is always somewhere in my mind during a race: thinking about what treat I am going to give myself afterwards. Hahaha! THE JOY OF RUNNING Being part of this event and sharing the starting line with female runners from all over the world means a lot to me. I believe it is important to show our children that we can achieve incredible things if we are willing to prepare, work hard and enjoy the journey. I also believe that women who run tend to connect more with themselves. They dare to make time for themselves, and that is incredibly important. If you ask my children what makes Mum happy, they will usually answer: “Having coffee and going for a run”. I hope they grow up understanding that taking care of yourself is something positive, not something to feel guilty about. THE JOURNEY TO MALLORCA BY UTMB® It is a dream come true to finally run through the mountains of Mallorca. It is a new opportunity to learn more about ultrarunning, about my body and about myself. And being able to share the whole experience with my family makes it even more special. 32

BREAKING THE LIMITS At 11, I could no longer walk; today, I run in the mountains. Every stride is a comeback. One foot in front of the other. Nothing is impossible if you believe in your dreams. Nicolas Nevers, 45 years old, ETM, France.
34
It all started at the age of 11, on a ski slope. A fall revealed brain tumors located in the thalamus: two highly complex operations, the most serious challenges of my entire journey, followed by left-sided hemiplegia that literally left me lying on the ground, unable to walk. I had to learn everything again. That same year, the operations caused hydrocephalus, which required further procedures and the placement of a shunt. The lasting effects of that period of chaos included concentration and spatial orientation problems, as well as fatigue, issues I am still working on today. My life changed completely. School, which had always been easy for me, became a path full of obstacles. But little by little, I found my own way forward: a vocational diploma (BEP), a BTS apprenticeship program, and finally a master’s degree, achieved through a great deal of hard work.
STEP BY STEP The real challenge was never crossing a finish line. It was patiently rebuilding a body and mind that had stopped responding. Before the accident, I was a very sporty child. I played tennis, basketball and table tennis, and practiced skiing and hockey. Afterwards, running seemed to belong to another life. Rehabilitation was my first step, quite literally. Then came table tennis, which for fifteen years helped me regain sensations and confidence. Snowboarding followed, where I learned to adapt and find my own way of moving. Running came back almost by chance in 2016, at the start of the Marseille-Cassis race. What made me keep going was rediscovering the pleasure of movement and, shortly afterwards, sharing it with my younger brother, my adventure partner across all kinds of terrain. Today, I still limp when I walk, and my running stride is not perfect. My body has its own way of moving forward: my balance is different, and my left arm does not move in the same way as it used to. I will never win a race, at any distance. But that is precisely why I enjoy long distances. My rival is not anyone else. It is myself. And, to some extent, the clock too, because there is always a new limit to try to push, while enjoying the journey.
35
MALLORCA BY UTMB® From road running to trails, five Marseille-Cassis races and three Paris Marathons led me towards trail running, drawn by its landscapes and nature, a pleasure I never tire of. With my brother, the challenges have kept coming: 40 km in Marseille with 1,100 m of elevation gain, races in Belgium, the Trail des Étoiles in the Queyras, the 50 km Vietnam Jungle Marathon with 2,000 m of elevation gain through a jungle with extreme humidity, and the TPH in Provence, with its 65 km and 2,900 m of elevation gain. Mallorca by UTMB® is the next step in that journey, with an added special meaning: our sister lives on the island, which we already know thanks to hiking, and the whole family will be there to support us. I hope to experience what really matters: the effort, the beauty of the trails, and the joy of crossing the finish line alongside my brother, surrounded by our loved ones. A MESSAGE The body always finds a way, even if it has to reinvent itself completely. At 11, I could no longer walk. I had to learn to walk again, to play, to snowboard, and then to run in the mountains. Never all at once, never alone. For a long time, my greatest strengths were also my greatest weaknesses. My mind, my mindset, is what now drives me during races. My body was my greatest vulnerability, and it has become my greatest ally, demonstrating an incredible capacity to adapt. Sport does not have to look the way it did before to become a source of joy again. My message is simple: Never give up, believe in your dreams, hold on to them and keep moving forward, one foot in front of the other.

BREAKING THE LIMITS Never give up. Don’t let anyone tell you that you can’t. Pedro Lliteras, 66 years old, CDA, Spain.

A few years ago, sport became a way for me to fight against an illness. Today, it is also a way of showing that a disability does not have to define the limits of what we can achieve. It all started when I was around 45. I had been feeling unwell for some time, mainly because of tiredness, so I went to see my GP. She asked me to have a full set of tests and, the following day, I received a call from the hospital: I had to go to the Oncology Department. The results came back in less than a week. I had an anaplastic malignant thyroid tumour, one of the most aggressive types. It was a difficult and challenging time. My oncologist explained the possibilities to me, as well as the importance of maintaining a positive attitude. She told me that in some hospitals in northern Europe, cancer patients were encouraged to practise sport, and that Nordic walking was one of the disciplines being studied. Eight months later, I was still weak, but I had a strong desire to live. I returned to work and to everyday life, while continuing with very strict medical check-ups. And I did not give up sport. Apart from the first two weeks after the operation, I went back to running, the gym and, above all, Nordic walking. All my subsequent check-ups showed good results and, after two years, I was discharged from Endocrinology.
A NEW PATH At 61, another radical change came. A condition called glaucoma caused my visual impairment. Adapting was difficult because it changes everything: your work, your life, the way you move around. I was fortunate to have the support of my company and ONCE, which taught me everything from how to use a cane to how to travel by bus or train and get around a shopping centre. After six or seven months, I started walking with an ONCE volunteer. We were connected by a rope and, little by little, we started jogging. Then my friends joined us and became my guides. I call every outing on the road or in the mountains a “jogging chat”. We train, talk and have a great time. The mountains are the most difficult part. My guide tells me if there are rocks, a descent or a change in terrain, and little by little I have got used to it. But running with a visual impairment requires a great deal of trust and complete coordination with the person accompanying you. I don’t have a regular guide. Elsa, Pilar, Xisco, Paco, Toni… are some of the people who have accompanied me. For me, each of them is part of this journey.

THE MALLORCA CHALLENGE I signed up for Mallorca by UTMB® with the greatest excitement. It was the main race and the big goal of the year. But in mid-February, I injured my knee due to a ligament problem, and since then I have been working on my recovery so that I can make it to the start line. That is my biggest challenge now: to run in the mountains again with a guide and form a real team with them. There is an added difficulty in the mountains: because we have to move more slowly, the cut-off times work against us, so we have to run with a great deal of planning. And without a guide, I cannot train. I can use a treadmill, but it is not the same. After six months injured, I have 60 days left until Mallorca by UTMB®. It will be a huge challenge, especially because of the 1,000 metres of elevation gain. But I want to be there. For me, being on the start line is everything. With all due respect to every race, Mallorca by UTMB® is an event that many people dream of running one day. I also want to experience that spirit of trail running: the camaraderie, the volunteers, the organization and, above all, reaching the finish line. We will probably arrive among the last runners. But for us, what matters will be crossing it.
40
A MESSAGE I also want to show that people with disabilities can practise sport. And, above all, to raise awareness, because there are still very few of us taking part in mass-participation races. I have learned that, no matter how difficult things get, you always find a way out. It may be hard, but there is always a door. And if it is closed, we look for another one. When I had the malignant tumour, I learned that attitude is fundamental. My oncologist always said that practising sport is the best medicine in the world. I STILL BELIEVE THAT TODAY.

CREW OF MALLORCA BY UTMB® THE SOUL OF THE EVENT
“YOU ARE PART OF THE CHALLENGE THE RUNNERS ARE EXPERIENCING” MARIA MARCO is 22 years old and comes from Sóller. She has been collaborating with Mallorca by UTMB® since 2025 and is part of the volunteer team at the Bunyola aid station. She joined the event through her father, Tolo Óscar, who is involved with the organization, and what started as a simple suggestion became an experience that allowed her to discover the race from the inside. From the aid station, Marieta gets to witness the runners’ efforts up close, especially during the night, when every stop, every word of encouragement and every expression of gratitude takes on a special meaning. What is it like to experience the race from the inside? Experiencing the race from the inside is a very different experience. You discover all the work and organization that goes on behind the scenes to make sure everything runs smoothly. What surprised me most was the atmosphere that is created: seeing runners arrive after so many hours of effort and feeling their excitement and gratitude towards all the people helping them, even though they still have a long way to go, especially during the night. What do you think volunteers bring to the runners’ experience during a race like Mallorca by UTMB®? I think volunteers are a very important part of the race. We try to help runners with everything they need, encourage them and make them feel supported throughout the course. 42
What do you remember most? The great atmosphere at the Bunyola aid station during the night. Seeing runners arrive exhausted, knowing that they still had many hours and kilometres ahead of them, really impressed me. They would stop for a few minutes, eat or drink something, and then keep going. Seeing their effort and their ability to carry on despite the fatigue was something that really impressed me. After experiencing the race from the inside, what does being part of Mallorca by UTMB® mean to you, and what does volunteering bring you? For me, it means experiencing something very special from the inside and being able to contribute in my own small way. Being a volunteer allowed me to better understand everything that goes on behind a race like this, meet people and feel that, even if I am helping from an aid station, I am also part of the challenge the runners are experiencing.
TONI MOLL, originally from Palma de Mallorca, is the aid station manager in Alaró. He has been collaborating with Mallorca by UTMB® since its first edition in 2024. His responsibilities include marking and unmarking his section of the course, as well as coordinating and managing the aid station and the Alaró aid base. How did your relationship with Mallorca by UTMB® begin, and what made you join the volunteer team? In 2024, when Mallorca by UTMB® arrived in Mallorca, the organization contacted all the clubs in the towns through which the course would pass. As a member of the board of Sa Milana de Alaró, I volunteered to coordinate, together with our president, our club’s involvement in the event. I decided to join the volunteer team because the race passed through our town and because it is so easy to work with the team we have built in our area. As an aid station manager, what is it like to experience the race from this point on the course? What surprises or moves you most about what happens there? As a mountain runner myself, I enjoy discovering all the different perspectives involved in organizing a race. In the early evening on Friday, before the runners arrive, we start preparing everything and getting things underway. At first, it is a little stressful, but then we enjoy watching the elite runners, seeing the pace they maintain, and being there to help and offer participants everything we would like to receive ourselves.
“ALL RUNNERS ARE OUR TEAMMATES”
What do you think volunteers bring to the runners’ experience during a race like Mallorca by UTMB®? I think organizing a race without volunteers would be very difficult. Someone has to mark the course and then leave it clean again once the race is over, or prepare the food and drinks that runners may need. We are lucky to have a large group and, moreover, most of us are runners. So those of us who are not racing go to our club’s aid station and are there to help and offer everything we can so that the runner’s experience, or their time at the aid station, is as pleasant as possible. Is there any particular moment, runner or story that you experienced as a volunteer and remember especially? I especially remember a fellow volunteer who was with us at the aid station. She signed up for a six-hour shift because she was running the short-distance race on Sunday, and ended up spending the whole day with us, until we eventually had to tell her to go and get ready for her race. Otherwise, she would have gone running without getting any rest. There are no words to thank someone who dedicates so much of their time to a project selflessly. The elite runners’ pace is always spectacular, but a race like Mallorca by UTMB® brings together runners of many different nationalities. I always tend to notice runners from places very far from Mallorca. I have seen people from Australia, China and Japan. For me, it is something to be very grateful for that they have travelled all the way here to run. After experiencing the race from the inside, what does being part of Mallorca by UTMB® mean to you, and what does volunteering bring you? One of the reasons I am part of Mallorca by UTMB® is that many of our club teammates come together. I like the world of mountain racing, I appreciate the surroundings, and I enjoy the closeness with the runners.
