AN EPIC JOURNEY BETWEEN THE SEA AND THE MOUNTAINS
From the highest peaks of the Southern Alps to the panoramic views of the Côte d’Azur, via a finish in the heart of the city of Nice on the world-famous Promenade des Anglais, this extraordinary adventure will take you beyond your limits to reveal the extraordinary in you!
NICE CÔTE D’AZUR BY UTMB ®
As the summer season draws to a close, discover the diverse landscapes of the Nice Côte d’Azur metropolis over five distances. Whatever your level, set off to conquer the most beautiful Mediterranean views, between the sea and the mountains.
3
ERIC
CIOTTI Mayor of Nice and President of the Nice Côte d’Azur Metropolitan Area
First of all, I want to express my respect for what you are taking on. Whether you have chosen the 20, 50 or 100 kilometre distance, or even the 159 kilometre UltraTrail with 8,200 metres of elevation gain, you have months of preparation and sacrifice behind you, training in the cold and getting up before dawn. There will, of course, be winners on Sunday and they will be well deserved, but everyone who crosses the finish line will have earned the title of champion. Reaching the finish is already a victory in itself. So take the time to look up along the way. Dawn breaking over the ridges above Tinée, the chestnut groves, the alpine pastures of the Mercantour, the hilltop villages of Utelle, Levens and Peille, then the Mediterranean suddenly appearing as you round the four hills, before the Baie des Anges and the finish arch. Few races in the world offer such a contrast between high mountains and the coast within the space of a few hours. These picturesque landscapes are threatened each year by fire, drought and heavy rain: I know I can count on you to take as much care of them as you do to enjoy them.

Around 7,500 of you will set off from Auron, Roubion, the Col d’Èze or the port of SaintJean-Cap-Ferrat heading for the Promenade des Anglais.
You will not be alone. Residents of our villages will be out along the trails, sometimes in the middle of the night, to cheer you on. Volunteers, the municipalities along the route and the rescue teams will look after you from start to finish. I would also like to thank them.
Welcome to Nice, everyone.
Have a great race, everyone.
As this 5th edition in Nice approaches, I would like to thank all the participants for their enthusiasm, which has once again exceeded our expectations. Your motivation is an honour for us and challenges us to continue living up to the trust you have placed in our event.
I am really looking forward to sharing this event with you, combining sport, solidarity and celebration, sea and mountains, in such a unique setting.
NICE CÔTE D’AZUR BY UTMB ®
Race director, UTMB France
This event would not be possible without you or without the dedication of the volunteers working alongside the organising team. Together, with our partners and the region, we have created a real community united by the desire to go beyond limits, and we are very proud of it.

ENVIRONMENT As the organiser, Nice Côte d’Azur by UTMB is taking a number of steps to preserve the natural environment and raise awareness among everyone involved before, during and after the event. This is a collective effort involving the organisation, local authorities, runners and supporters, as well as partners, service providers and volunteers.
During Nice Côte d’Azur by UTMB, you will cross the Mercantour National Park. In this area, as everywhere else, we ask you to pay particular attention to the environment around you. The park has specific regulations in place to protect its fauna and flora. Here is a ENVIRONNEMENT reminder of some of the rules to follow: • Do not wildlife.

WASTE MANAGEMENT DURING THE RACE No more plastic bottles, less waste. Runners, supporters, volunteers and organisers are all asked to act as responsibly as possible towards the environment.
To reduce plastic consumption by runners and volunteers, and thereby limit the event’s carbon impact, the organisation does not provide any disposable tableware (cutlery, cups or bowls) at race bases or aid stations. Everyone involved in the race is therefore invited to bring their own cutlery if they wish to eat at the aid stations.
Runners are encouraged to use rechargeable batteries. If this is not possible, they should keep their used batteries with them until they can dispose of them in the special containers available at aid stations or at the finish.
NICE CÔTE D’AZUR BY UTMB ®
Small rubbish bags are also provided at race-bib distribution. These are intended for used toilet paper and other soiled waste, such as opened gels or cling film that has contained food. We ask every runner to keep their waste with them between aid stations, including fruit skins. Dedicated bins are available at each aid station to ensure waste is sorted. The last rubbish bin is located approximately 100 metres after the aid station and is clearly marked with a sign.

CHARITY BIBS AND RUNNER DONATIONS Since the creation of the UTMB World Series, and particularly Nice Côte d’Azur by UTMB, we have been committed to combining the energy of the events with a spirit of solidarity. In the heart of the Mercantour massif, we are driven by the desire to help everyone achieve their own victories. In addition to Charity Bibs, the UTMB CARES endowment fund supports these associations. When registering, each runner has the option to make a donation. For 2026, the following projects have been selected: Mission Trekkeurs and Solidarité 06. For information: your donation will be divided equally between these two associations.

WOMAN IN TRAIL To strengthen equity and accessibility for women in trail running, UTMB World Series is introducing measures to ensure that its races respond to women’s specific needs, with services designed to support their participation and experience.
•
Menstrual products and personal hygiene items available at all aid stations for athletes who may need them.
•
Separate and appropriate facilities, including separate toilets and changing areas for men and women, to provide a respectful and comfortable experience.
•
A dedicated female contact within the organisation.
•
A WhatsApp group reserved for women, created to discuss questions before, during and after the race, as well as the event in general. This channel is dedicated to sharing and mutual support.
Welcoming a child is a unique stage in a family’s life, and the support provided should reflect the diversity of athletes’ life journeys, whether elite or amateur. After introducing a pioneering pregnancy policy in 2023, UTMB® World Series is extending its commitment to inclusion by evolving its support policy into the Paths to Parenthood policy. Developed in collaboration with the Pro Trail Runners Association (PTRA), it addresses the specific needs of elite athletes while applying to all runners across the UTMB World Series circuit.

IS THIS YOUR FIRST TRAIL RACE?
Sébastien POESY, elite athlete
TECHNICAL DIRECTORS
Nice Côte d’Azur by UTMB
You have chosen to take part in one of our five Nice Côte d’Azur by UTMB trail races, and we are delighted that you have decided to embark on this adventure. Whatever format you have chosen, you will discover a wide variety of unique locations, vegetation, geology, trails, tracks and roads through some urban sections, as well as routes through medieval villages. Very few trail races offer such varied routes from the mountains to the sea, but they all share one particular feature: very technical trails that can wear you down quickly if you don’t manage the opening kilometres well. Be careful and always keep something in reserve, otherwise your quads and feet may soon be telling you to stop! If you keep this need to manage your effort in mind, when you reach the hills above Nice after the final aid station at Plateau St Michel with eight kilometres of descent remaining, you will be able to let go and catch those who were less cautious, while enjoying exceptional views over the Bay of Villefranche, Cap Ferrat, Nice and far beyond towards Italy, the Esterel massif and the Gulf of Saint-Tropez, weather permitting. We are so proud to introduce you to this unique region. Enjoy it and enjoy yourselves. All the volunteers will be there to encourage you, listen to you and bring you joy, happiness... and comfort! 18
If this is your first experience, the main thing to know is that trail running is very different from road running. The route is more varied, with climbs, descents, technical sections and changes of pace. So don’t try to run all the time: walking on the climbs is completely normal, especially when they are steep and technical! The setting of Nice Côte d’Azur by UTMB is very special. Along the route, you will experience the atmosphere of the hills around Nice before finishing in the city on the Promenade des Anglais. It’s a great way to discover trail running! Don’t put too much pressure on yourself. Enjoy the event, the atmosphere and this first experience. Prepare your kit calmly a few days before the race and avoid walking too much or trying to visit the whole region beforehand. Save your energy for race day! Above all, don’t start too fast. It’s probably the number one trap for beginners, especially with the excitement at the start. Take your time, manage your effort and remember to drink and eat regularly. You’re here because you chose to be, so enjoy every moment! And don’t forget to look around you: you’re also here to enjoy the scenery! Trust yourself, do your best and you may be surprised by how far you can go. Enjoy the atmosphere, the volunteers, the landscapes and the energy of the other runners, and above all savour the moment you cross the finish line. That first finish line may be the beginning of a long relationship with trail running!
Nutrition advice from Näak Proper fueling is essential. On a trail, fueling properly is essential to maintain your energy all the way to the finish line. Start from the very beginning: take your first gel 5 minutes before the start, then aim for 40 to 80 g of carbohydrates per hour, depending on what you’ve tested in training. Remember to drink regularly too, taking small sips rather than drinking a lot at once. At the aid stations, you’ll find products including BOOST™ 60 Neutral Drink Mix that provides 60g of carbs and the ULTRA™ Waffle, which provides 140 calories and 17 g of carbs, to help you maintain your energy intake throughout the race. Most importantly: test your fueling strategy before race day and stick to what your body knows.
SUPPORT CREW SOME INFORMATION FOR YOUR SUPPORT CREW: Aid stations where assistance is permitted: You can wait for your runner here to provide assistance (equipment, food, etc.) and spend some time with them. PLEASE NOTE: Only those with a support crew pass will be allowed to enter aid stations where assistance is permitted. Checks may be carried out at busy times.

The support crew pass is provided with the runner’s bib.
Aid stations where assistance is not permitted:
CODE OF CONDUCT FOR SUPPORTERS • Respect runners and other supporters • Assist your runner only where authorised • Stay safe • Keep off the race route outside authorised areas to avoid accidents • Choose sustainable transport • Keep our trails and their surroundings clean • Encourage runners and put a smile on their faces • Enjoy the areas the race passes through • Respect restricted areas • Report emergencies • You are part of the event • Respect the volunteers • Park responsibly - a properly parked car won’t go astray!
But that doesn’t stop you coming to cheer them on!
NICE CÔTE D’AZUR BY UTMB ®
These aid stations are checkpoints for your runner, where they will find drinks and food, among other things, but will not be allowed to receive outside assistance. There are no facilities at these points for support crew following the race (shelter, warm area, food or other facilities).

Auron, a former alpine village in the Nice high country and once the granary of SaintÉtienne-de-Tinée, is now a lively winter and summer resort in the heart of the Mercantour massif. GETTING AROUND ÈZE
NICE CÔTE D’AZUR BY UTMB ®
A charming hilltop village located in the Parc de la Corniche, Èze stretches across steep terrain from the Mediterranean coast, where the hamlet of Èze-sur-Mer lies, to the rocky outcrop 429 metres above sea level where the picturesque medieval houses of Èze-Village are located. The Col d’Èze, well known for having been crossed many times by the Tour de France, peaks at an altitude of 507 metres. A village with irresistible charm and breathtaking views over the Mediterranean.
25
GETTING AROUND LEVENS Set in the Nice backcountry, the hilltop village of Levens welcomes runners for the start of the 50K, at the heart of an area where heritage, nature and Provençal traditions come together. Overlooked by Mont Férion, the last Alpine bastion before the shores of the Côte d’Azur, the village offers magnificent views over the surrounding valleys, the peaks of the Mercantour and the Mediterranean. With its ancient streets, olive groves and mid-mountain landscapes, Levens is an ideal starting point for a sporting adventure between Alpine terrain and the gentler Mediterranean landscape.

EQUIPMENT
A few common-sense reminders for dealing with difficult weather conditions: - Be prepared for both cold and extreme heat. - Don’t wait until you start shivering to put on warmer clothing. - Don’t change clothes in strong winds: plan ahead or wait until you are somewhere sheltered. - Protect yourself from the sun. Walking poles: Take care with your poles, particularly during the first part of the race when there are a lot of runners close together. Do not use the wrist straps on descents: in the event of a sudden fall, they can prevent you from breaking your fall properly with your hands, potentially causing injuries to the shoulders, wrists, forearms or head.
NUTRITION & HYDRATION
Your hydration and energy intake should be adapted to the weather conditions, with adequate salt intake throughout your effort. Maintain a good balance between slow- and fast-release carbohydrates.

Rest areas are available at aid stations if you need a short sleep. It is dangerous to stop and sleep alone in an isolated area. Fatigue and reduced alertness can lead to accidents. Stay within your limits, particularly during the first part of the race, and conserve enough energy to deal with difficult situations that may arise later, such as a sudden change in weather conditions.
In order to take the start of your race with peace of mind, we remind you that you must have personal accident insurance to cover any search and rescue costs in France. Every year there are runners who do not have sufficient provision. Such insurance can be taken out with the insurance company of your choice. Since 2022, the UTMB Group has offered its own repatriation insurance, which you can take out at the following link: https://utmb.assurinco.com/
LIVETRAIL The LiveTrail app is an essential tool for your safety, while also providing valuable race information, including real-time tracking of your race and that of your friends. In the event of an SOS, the app allows you to send your GPS position directly to the organisation by text message, saving valuable time in getting assistance. However, it is not a substitute for calling the command center. A mobile phone is mandatory during the race, with international roaming activated and a fully functioning battery. Do not put your phone in airplane mode under any circumstances, as we must be able to contact you before, during and after the race. Runners who expect to be
racing for more than 15 hours are advised to carry an external battery. Check that the emergency contact number you provided is for the person who should be contacted in the event of a problem. Very important: To help us assist you more effectively, remember to enter the phone number you will be using during the race in your MyUTMB account. You can update it until the start of your race.
IT IS COMPULSORY TO STAY WITH A PERSON IN DIFFICULTY.

REGULATIONS RACE BIBS Bib pick-up will take place in Nice. Please note: To collect your race bib, you must come in person and bring photo ID and your race pack, so that a timing chip can be attached to it. You will also have the opportunity to have your mandatory equipment checked by authorised volunteers. Each race bib is issued individually to the runner. You must collect it in person and present photo ID. The race bib must be worn on the chest or stomach and must remain fully visible at all times throughout the race. It must not be folded or cut. Your race bib serves as the pass required to access shuttles, buses, aid stations, medical facilities, rest areas and drop bag drop-off and collection areas. The race bib must not be removed. In the event of withdrawal, it will be deactivated by a member of the organisation.
Only bags provided by the organisation will be transported. The time taken to return bags depends on logistical constraints. A bag may arrive after the runner, particularly if the runner withdraws early in the race. Please be patient and respect the work of the volunteers.
ARE YOU SPONSORED ? It is wonderful if you are, but you can only display sponsors on your clothes and equipment used during the race. No flags in the name of X, or banners for Y.
CHECKPOINTS Each runner will be equipped with two electronic chips and a wristband. Some checkpoints will be automatic and others manual. The organisation will also set up unannounced checkpoints. Runners who do not have their chips and wristband with them at all times will be penalised.
ENVIRONMENT Help us to conserve the natural surroundings; do not drop your litter along the race route. We all share responsibility for keeping the natural environment clean. Do not forget to carry a bag in which to put your rubbish between two rubbish-bin points.
CUP
«BRING YOUR OWN UTENSILS» The organisation will not distribute any disposable cutlery, cups or bowls at race bases and aid stations. You are asked to carry your own utensils if you wish to eat hot food (soup, pasta).
BYOU
DROP BAGS 100M: One drop bag transported from the start to Saint-Sauveur, then to Levens and finally to the finish. 100K: One drop bag transported from the start to Levens and then to the finish. 20K/50K: One drop bag transported from the start to the finish. No poles, valuables or fragile items are permitted in the bags.
COMPLIANCE WITH THE REGULATIONS AND RACE STEWARDS As every year, volunteers will be there to help you, but also to ensure that everyone follows the rules. Among them, Race Stewards will have specific instructions, particularly regarding the immediate application of time penalties during the race in the event of a breach of the regulations. Stop-time penalties are applied during the race. For those at the front, this may mean losing places in the rankings, while those towards the back of the field risk missing subsequent cut-off times. Race Stewards are authorised to check your mandatory equipment at the start and at various points along the course. Missing any item of mandatory safety equipment (a water supply with a minimum capacity of 1 litre, a waterproof jacket with a hood, a lamp, an emergency blanket or a mobile phone) will result in immediate disqualification. See the full list of penalties in the regulations on NICE.UTMB.WORLD For the most serious cases, this will be handled in conjunction with Race Direction.
NICE CÔTE D’AZUR BY UTMB ®
To avoid the waste created by disposable plastic cups during the race, everyone must carry their own cup with a minimum capacity of 15 cl. Please note that bottles or flasks with caps are not accepted as cups!

REGULATIONS AID STATIONS
WITHDRAWAL
Only runners wearing a visible race bib on their chest or stomach, their wristband and their chip on their rucksack will have access to aid stations. Organisers will only provide still water or energy drinks for filling water bottles or water bags. All other drinks are to be consumed on site only.
Unless you are injured, you must not leave the trail other than at a checkpoint. In this case, you MUST notify the checkpoint supervisor, who will permanently cancel your race bib and collect your rucksack chip.
3 types of aid stations are available: • Drinks only: still water, sparkling water, Näak Ultra Energy drink, cola, coffee, tea, vermicelli soup. • Drinks and food: drinks (as above) + Ultra Energy Näak bars and waffles, sweet cakes, chocolate, bananas, oranges, raisins, savoury biscuits, cheese, sausage, bread. • In addition, a post-race meal is served in Nice.
CUT-OFF TIMES Cut-off times are calculated to allow participants to reach the finish within the maximum permitted time. They are indicated in the various documents provided. The stated cut-off time is the latest time at which runners must leave the checkpoint. The organisation may modify the cut-off times if circumstances require. Runners will be notified by SMS and/or email. No runner will be allowed to leave a checkpoint behind the course sweepers.
The runner must keep their cancelled race bib as it serves as an access pass to the shuttles, buses, meals and treatment rooms. Repatriation will be decided in consultation with the station manager, in accordance with the following general rules: • Buses are available at certain aid stations indicated by a “bus” pictogram on the timetable for runners who have withdrawn from the race and want to return to Nice. • Runners who withdraw at another first-aid or aid station, but whose state of health does not require them to be evacuated, must return to the nearest repatriation point as quickly as possible and by their own means. • In the event that a runner abandons the race before a checkpoint, it is imperative to return to the previous checkpoint and report withdrawal from the race to the station manager. If, while returning to the previous checkpoint, the runner encounters sweepers, it is the sweepers who will cancel the race bib. The runner is then outside the organisation’s area of control. New: for better information flow, you can also declare your withdrawal on the LIVETRAIL® application. Please note, however, that the withdrawal procedure described above also applies to runners that have the application.
REPATRIATION The organisation does not provide repatriation by car or 4x4 (except for medical reasons and on the decision of the medical officer or head of station). Runners who abandon at a mountain station must return as quickly as possible and by their own means to the nearest repatriation point where the organisation’s buses are available.
SHOWERS You can only take a hot shower at the finish. On the course, showers are only available on medical advice.
COURSE MARKINGS For better night vision, the route markers have a yellow reflective element that will illuminate when your headlamp shines on it. CAUTION: if you no longer see the route markers, turn back! Out of respect for the environment, no paint will be used on the trails.

MANDATORY EQUIPMENT
WHY MANDATORY EQUIPMENTIS REQUIRED In September, temperatures can be very hot (over 30°C), but it can also be very cold (feels like temperatures down to -10°C above 2,000 m), with rain, hail or even snow. Your equipment must allow you to cope with all types of conditions and, depending on your pace, to spend one or two nights on the course. In the event of an incident, your equipment must also allow you to wait for assistance in sufficiently safe conditions. You must carry the mandatory equipment with you at all times or risk a penalty. Checks are carried out during the races, just before the start and through to the finish. It is important to note that the equipment required by the organiser is the minimum necessary and that each trail runner should adapt it to their own abilities. We strongly recommend testing it during training sessions in a variety of conditions and carrying everything that will be useful and necessary for you.
weather conditions, the organiser may require the use of an additional kit and will inform each participant before race pack collection opens for their race. Each participant must then present their mandatory equipment, including the additional kit required by the organiser, in order to collect their race bib. Choose clothing that provides effective protection in the mountains against cold, wind and snow, ensuring greater safety and better performance. All clothing must be the correct size and unmodified after manufacture. You must carry this equipment in a bag that will be tagged at race bib collection and cannot be exchanged during the race.
