Co-op Connections® Card
Holidays are near,
the savings are real Members walking down the street or in a parking lot who see a random $5 bill on the ground probably won’t pass up an opportunity to pick it up. That’s a free lunch. Similar savings can be had every day when members use their Co-op Connections® Card, available to every Mohave Electric Cooperative member, their spouse, and children. Over 130 local businesses are involved in the program and many more on-line. “There are everyday savings involved with using the card,” said Terry Puryear, public affairs and communications coordinator at MEC. “It’s like finding money on the ground.”

In recent months, MEC began promoting the Connections app available for iOS and Android phones by searching for Coop Connections. Once installed, searching for local and national deals will be at a member’s fingertips. Members without either of the smartphones can go the traditional route and use the card. All members receive a card when signing up for service, but if it has been misplaced, a new card may be requested at the MEC Member Services Office at 928 Hancock Rd. in Bullhead City. Members living a distance away may call and request one be mailed. In addition to everyday savings at a variety of retailers, the card’s Healthy Savings helps members save up to 85 percent on prescriptions as well as discounts on dental, vision, chiropractic, hearing aids, and lab imaging. The program teams up with coupons.com to offer hundreds of savings opportunities and the Cash Back Mall offers rewards for online purchases with major retailers. “The card is free to all MEC members, the savings are real, it doesn’t expire, and any member of the family can use the card,” Puryear said. “Use it and save.” With the holiday season upon us, it makes sense to save whenever possible. “Mohave Electric is proud to be able to provide a program that keeps money in our members’ wallets,” said Tyler Carlson, CEO of MEC. “We are happy to be a part of a program that helps members.” Take a peek inside this issue of Currents for places to visit in the MEC service territory that offer a deal with the card. Wildlife and tree limbs, when combined, are the leading cause, but there’s also the potential for vehicle-caused outages, which was the reason for one recent outage in Fort Mohave.
