For each residency program listed in the following pages, the American Board of Internal Medicine (ABIM) reports the cumulative pass rate for the 2023 to 2025 certifying examinations in internal medicine.

Intern Schedule • 26 two-week blocks (2 + 2 + 2) • Housestaff medicine: ~7 blocks • Ambulatory: ~8 blocks (residency clinic and subspecialty clinic) • Night float: 2 blocks (No 24-hour call) • Critical care medicine: 2 blocks • Inpatient cardiology: 2 blocks • Infectious diseases: 1 block • Palliative care: 1 block • KEY Emergency medicine: 1 block • Evidence-based medicine: 1 block • Elective: 1-2 blocks • Vacation: 15 days (not counting guaranteed time off surrounding 12/25 or 1/1) • Wellness days: 4 half days • Sick days: 21 days
Housestaff Medicine
Institutional Support
• 3 Teams (2 Internal Medicine Faculty supervised, 1 UTMC Hospitalist (UTH) supervised) • 1 senior resident, 2-3 interns, 1 junior intern, 1-2 third-year medical students • Pharmacy support • Census normally 12-16 patients • Team 1 and Team 2 alternate short and long call. Team 3 always 6 am – 6 pm • EMR- Cerner with Dragon voice recognition software

• 2 Teams (attending, PCCM fellow if on Team 1, senior resident, 2-3 interns, occasional medical student) • Most patients in medical ICU however can be in cardiovascular ICU, neuro ICU, and trauma ICU • Pharmacy and metabolic support round with team • Ample opportunity for procedures • POCUS training • Exposure to ECMO if desired
