Academic Calendar

Bookmark the Academic Calendar in your favorite browser, as it includes a full listing of important dates for students, such as the last day to drop a class without forfeiting tuition or the tuition payment due date.

Campus Information System (CIS)

You will use the university’s Campus Information System for many purposes. For starters, you will:

• Set up your UMail account.

• View and pay tuition and fees.

• View your class schedule and, if applicable, access links to purchase textbooks.

• Update your contact information.

• Access unofficial transcripts or order official ones.

• Apply for graduation.

When logging in to the CIS for the first time, you will need your student ID number (uNID). Your uNID will be in your official letter of admission from the University of Utah. You will have access to this letter in your Slate application portal. Your default password is your birth date in MMDDYY format. If you experience any issues logging into the system, please contact the Eccles IT Group

Tuition

To find the cost of tuition and fees, visit the program’s website.

To view your billing statement and make payments, visit the Tuition section on CIS. Payments can be made online using a credit card or e-check. See the Academic Calendar (link above) for tuition due dates.

Students who fail to pay tuition by this date will have their classes dropped by the university without the possibility of reinstatement to those classes. Contact the Income Accounting and Student Loan Services for any questions about your tuition billing and payments.

UMail

All students are given an email account on the University’s email system, Umail. All official University communication will be sent exclusively to your Umail account once your first semester starts. You can access Umail in the CIS. Learn more about Umail here.

University ID Card (UCard)

The UCard is your student ID card. UCards are issued at the UCard Office in the Student Union Building or digitally online. If you plan on using public transportation, obtain a pass so that you can ride for free.

Student Health

University of Utah students are required to submit proof of immunity to the Student Health Center. Required vaccinations include two MMR doses or two doses of measles, one dose of mumps, and one dose of rubella.

Please direct all your questions to the Student Health Center

Student Parking

All students need a permit to park on campus from 7 a.m. - 8 p.m., Monday through Friday. If you plan to park on campus, you can acquire your parking permit through Commuter Services.

Official Transcript(s)

The University of Utah requires you to submit official copies of transcripts from all colleges or universities you have attended. Please submit your official transcript(s) at your earliest convenience. A registration hold will be placed on your student account if you do not send your official transcript(s) before the semester starts. This hold will prevent you from registering for courses.

Instructions

Have official transcripts sent directly from each school you have attended to:

Office of Admissions, Graduate Admissions Division, University of Utah 201 South 1460 East, Room 250S, Student Services Building, Salt Lake City, UT 84112

The University of Utah only accepts electronic official transcripts from the following agencies:

• Docufide by Parchment

• National Student Clearinghouse

• AVOW

• Credential Solutions’ TranscriptsNetwork

• Scrip-Safe

• Scoir

Electronic official transcripts can be sent to AdmissTranscripts@Utah.edu.

If you received your undergraduate degree from the University of Utah and have not attended another institution of higher education since your graduation, you do not need to submit an official transcript for the University of Utah.

Additional Information:

Documents submitted for admission become the property of the University of Utah and cannot be returned.

Failure to provide academic credentials, including proof of degrees received, will cause a registration hold on your record. This will prevent you from registering for your second-semester classes until all missing credentials are received.

Financial Aid

Most graduate students accept some form of financial aid to cover the cost of tuition and fees. To apply for financial aid, contact the Financial Aid Office

Veteran Services

If applicable, and if you plan to use military benefits in paying for tuition and fees, contact the Veterans Services Office.

Graduate School Information

The Graduate School works to support graduate students by providing them with important information. You have an online file in the Campus Information System (CIS) called Graduate Student Summary. This link will provide a tutorial on the Graduate Student Summary, and show you how to access your Graduate Student Summary. You will be able to view your Graduate Student Summary once your supervisory committee has been entered online by your department. This generally occurs during your second semester.

As a graduate student, it is your responsibility to be familiar with the Graduate School’s policies. You can review the policies here.
