"An invasive species is any living non-native organism, such as an animal or plant, that has arrived to a new area and causes harm to the environment, economy, or the health of other organisms, including humans. A native species occurs naturally in a particular area. The term “invasive” is usually reserved for the most harmful non-native species, but not all non- native species are harmful. For example, peach trees are native to Asia but were introduced to the rest of the world for the fruit to be eaten and enjoyed."
