CARDINAL & GOLD EVENTS
Cardinal & Gold events take place every Thursday and Friday night and are free to all residential students. There are activities and outings for every interest — from feature film screenings in McCarthy Quad to evening hikes in Griffith Park to concerts at LA Live. Be on the lookout for the weekly schedule of events in the Fall!

Priam Residential College has a focus on Innovation & Design and aspires to support the interests and passions of students in the areas of technology, science, and design. This community will encourage the pursuit of solutions to global challenges through creativity, innovation, and novelty. The Priam Residential College welcomes all students, across academic disciplines, to connect and create opportunities to transcend their academics and bring ideas to life.

PRIAM RESIDENTIAL COLLEGE
Faculty in Residence serve as your mentors, advisers, and advocates. They facilitate and lead the academic focus, in partnership with the Residential Education staff, for your living-learning community. Residential Education staff work to support your holistic development and success at USC. They directly supervise your resident assistants, develop community through programming, resolve conflict through mediation, and serve as resources for residents.
MEET THE FACULTY & STAFF OF PRIAM
NEELESH TIRUVILUAMALA FACULTY IN RESIDENCE
SARAH RUELAS RESIDENTIAL COLLEGE COORDINATOR
Tiruviluamala, who goes by Neel, completed his PhD in the area of partial differential equations at UCLA in 2012 under the supervision of James Ralston. He is currently also interested in artificial intelligence and machine learning and he regularly works with undergraduates on research projects and independent studies. Tiruviluamala believes that interesting and important ideas are best fostered through conversation and collaboration. He wants residents to encourage one another to speak freely, passionately, and openly about the topics that excite them. Tiruviluamala also hopes that residents will feel comfortable approaching him to ask him about his research, to share a joke or a riddle, to provide suggestions for games or other group activities, or to just say “hi.”
Ruelas is from Southern California and studied at UC Riverside where she received her bachelor’s in psychology. While completing her master’s in postsecondary administration and student affairs at USC, she served as a judicial officer within in the Office of Student Judicial Affairs and Community Standards. Most recently, she worked as a coordinator within Fraternity & Sorority Leadership Development. Ruelas is invested in lifelong learning for both herself and the communities she supports, and she enjoys cultivating transformative leadership experiences through the diverse opportunities collegiate life offers. When there is free time, she loves spending time exploring outdoors, crafting, running and watching movies.
MORE ABOUT LIFE IN PRIAM PRIAM TANK
Priam Tank takes place during spring and is an adaptation on Shark Tank. Students will develop entrepreneurial ideas and pitch them to a panel of judges who will choose who to “fund.” The winners will receive mentorship and advice on how to truly put their plans into action. PRIAM CASE STUDY CONTEST
In conjunction with the Iovine and Young curriculum, the Priam Case Study Contests puts theory to practice. Students participate in a themed-case study judged by faculty and professional staff. Prizes given out to the top three winners! NASA JET PROPULSION LAB TRIP
The JPL trip takes place during the fall and blends faculty and fun. Students, along with our FIR Neel, tour NASA’s Jet Propulsion Lab in Pasadena. A few highlights of the tour include a look into the Space Flight Operations Facility and a viewing of the Mars 2020 rover.
PRIAM GALA
The annual Priam Gala is a chance for building residents to showcase their artistic talents, from music to painting, in a formal setting on the courtyard. Appetizers, a photo booth, and music all set the mood for a memorable night. FACULTY IN RESIDENCE DINNERS TUESDAY’S TEA
Tuesday’s Tea is a weekly event for all residents of the USC Village. Our Faculty in Residence host guest speakers that fit the theme of their Residential College. This allows all residents a chance to engage in a variety of topic areas. Tuesday’s Teas in the past have included speakers from the film industry, popular podcasters, a civil rights attorney, and a former international diplomat among others. Tuesday’s Teas always offer tea (of course), coffee, and light snacks.
THE SOPHOMORE SUCCESS SERIES
The Sophomore Success Series is a weeklong event that offers workshops, presentations, and interactive programming for our predominantly sophomore population. Events and workshops include topics such as financial literacy, internship seeking, time management, and even a chance to take a professional headshot. B-REEL: VILLAGE DOCUMENTARY SHOWCASE
During the spring semester, one full week is devoted to a documentary festival. Documentaries screened represent the themes of our Residential Colleges. The final night of B-REEL ends with an outdoor screening on our Great Lawn with food trucks and other fun activities. VACAY @ THE VILLAGE
Vacay @ the Village takes place during the spring and focuses on wellness with a spa-like ambience. Village residents participate and learn more about ways they can maintain wellness and well-being via yoga, eating tips, and relaxation activities. There are opportunities to sample healthy food options, make your own facials, and get your nails done!
GET INVOLVED! RESIDENTIAL HOUSING ASSOCIATION (RHA)
Founded in 1988, Residential Housing Association (RHA) serves all students who live in USC Housing by providing them with ways to enhance and contribute to their residential experience at the University of Southern California. One of the largest organizations on campus, RHA strives to build community, empower residents, and create opportunities for academic success and leadership development. RHA acts as a resource by coordinating and promoting all phases of student development and self-government, while representing the residential community on both regional and national levels. Do you want to gain valuable leadership experience while making lasting friendships, planning events, and serving as a resource to your fellow residents? Consider joining Community Council! Community Councils are responsible for a wide variety of fun, social, and engaging programs throughout the academic year for their individual communities. Student leaders are elected or appointed into their Community Council by their peers. Community Council members represent their residents at Residential Housing Association (RHA) meetings and gain valuable leadership experience!
