WELCOME FROM USA TRIATHLON CEO VICTORIA BRUMFIELD

Dear Athletes,
On behalf of USA Triathlon, I’d like to welcome you to Milwaukee for 2026 USA Triathlon Nationals. You’ve arrived at one of the most prestigious triathlons in the United States!
Congratulations on qualifying for the Sprint & Olympic Distance National Championships or Paratriathlon National Championships! Thank you to each one of you for being a part of this event and making the weekend of racing so special.
We’re especially proud that Paratriathlon National Championships will take place as part of this incredible weekend in Milwaukee. These para athletes continue to push the limits of what’s possible, and witnessing them compete is a rare and unforgettable opportunity. So, cheer for our amazing para athletes, including several of our medal winners from the Paris 2024 Paralympic Games!
In addition to watching our para athletes race, we hope you also enjoy all that Milwaukee has to offer. Milwaukee hosted USA Triathlon Nationals last year and has long been a beloved host city. We were here in 2021-2023 and 2013-2015, with more than 4,000 triathletes coming to Milwaukee each year. The city’s scenic lakefront and world-class infrastructure provide an ideal venue for athletes from across the country, offering a course that is both challenging and exhilarating.
We would like to extend our gratitude to the many individuals and groups in Milwaukee who helped make this weekend possible:
Sports Milwaukee and the City of Milwaukee; the Milwaukee Police Department, Milwaukee County Sheriff’s Office, Milwaukee County EMS and Milwaukee Fire Department; the U.S. Coast Guard; Wisconsin Department of Transportation; Milwaukee County Parks; City of Milwaukee Health Department; City of Milwaukee Department of Public Works; Port Milwaukee; Discovery World; City of St. Francis; City of Cudahy; Milwaukee World Festival; Advocate Aurora (medical); Lakeshore State Park; Volunteer Captains & Volunteers; Lakeshore Athletic Services (LAS); and Bartolotta Restaurant Group and several others who played key roles in the execution of this event.
During your stay, enjoy Milwaukee’s vibrant downtown area, stop into some local businesses, and show your support for a city that is welcoming us with open arms.
Whether this is your first time at USA Triathlon Nationals or it’s an annual staple of your race calendar, we know an immense amount of training and dedication has gone into your efforts to reach this point. Thank you for your continued enthusiasm and dedication to this sport.
Stay safe, race fast, and enjoy that finish-line moment — we look forward to cheering you on!

Victoria Brumfield Chief Executive Officer USA Triathlon

A MESSAGE FROM THE MAYOR OF MILWAUKEE

A MESSAGE FROM THE COMMISIONER OF OFFICIALS

Rules and Reminders
Please keep in mind you are racing in a USA Triathlon sanctioned event and there are USA Triathlon Technical Officials on the course to ensure fairness in the competition.
Athletes must take personal responsibility to understand the rules and avoid penalties. Penalized athletes will be notified of penalties on the course via the international standard blue card/yellow card system.
Penalties
When and if it is safe to do so, athletes will be shown the appropriate card for the violation, identified by their race number, and instructed to stop and serve their penalty at the penalty tent for bike course violations and elsewhere on the course as stand-downs for all other violations. Verbal warnings may also be used when and if it is safe to do so to prevent athletes from incurring penalties. Failure to stop and serve any penalty as instructed may result in disqualification.
Athletes are encouraged to view the online race briefings associated with your race/s, as it is the athlete’s responsibility to know the details for their event/s prior to their race, including the prescribed course/s. Technical Officials will be onsite throughout the week and are there to help you have a fair and safe event and answer any questions you may have.
Reminders
• Please ensure you arrive with the proper equipment to race
• At USA Triathlon National Events and World Triathlon Qualifying Events, cycling and running with a bare torso is prohibited. Athletes must wear a shirt, jersey, or sports top/sports bra at all times during the run segment of the race.
• While in possession of your bike during your race, your helmet must be on with the chinstrap securely fastened.
• The use of personal audio devices, including bone-conducting headphones, is prohibited.
• Remember to treat other athletes, volunteers, and officials with courtesy and consideration
Final Note: The Officials team is on your side! Have a great race!

ATHLETES RACING OLYMPIC AND SPRINT
Bike check-out on Saturday, Aug. 8 is mandatory for all athletes at 11:45 a.m. (approx.).
For athletes also competing in the Sprint distance race on Sunday, Aug. 9, we have made the process easier for you. You have two options for bike check out on Saturday:
1. Remove your gear from your Olympic-distance rack position and only leave your bike. Your gear must go with you. Once this is complete, you may choose to do one of the following:
• Return on Saturday when Sprint Distance check-in takes place from 2:40 – 7 p.m. to doublecheck that your bike is racked in the correct position
• Arrive on Sunday morning when transition is open
2. OR remove your bike and gear from your Olympic-distance rack position and exit transition. You may then re-enter transition during Sprint Distance check-in taking place from 2:40 – 7 p.m. and re-rack your bike.
Please keep in mind the following notes if you are racing both Olympic-distance and Sprint races:
• You will have the same number for both races
• You will have the same timing chip for all races and you will turn in your timing chip upon the completion of your last race of the event weekend
• All numbers are unique to each athlete; there are no duplicates.
• Ensure you wear the appropriate swim cap for the appropriate day of racing.
ATHLETE RACE NUMBER IDENTIFICATION
Athletes will not need to be body marked with your race number for the race, and therefore, no race tattoos will be given.
KEY EVENT INFORMATION
To ensure proper identification for accountability and safety purposes, athletes must wear your numberedmarked swim cap on the swim (which will be marked during the packet pick up), helmet sticker (s) on the bike, adhere seat post sticker to the bike, and wear their race bib on the run.
Additionally, all athletes must wear your assigned timing chip during all scheduled familiarizations and for all races.
Athlete wristbands must also be worn from Athlete Check-In until the end of the event weekend in order to check your bike out of transition.

KEY EVENT INFORMATION
Age-Up Rule
To determine eligibility for Team USA qualification, results will be considered based on the participant's age as of December 31 of the Worlds competition year. Thus, for Team USA qualifying purposes, his time at U.S Nationals will be compared to the men currently in the 50-54 age group.

SAFESPORT
The U.S. Center for SafeSport established the Minor Athlete Abuse Prevention Policies (MAAPP) in 2019 to foster a safer environment for minor athletes within the U.S. Olympic and Paralympic Movement. As a USA Triathlon Nationals participant, compliance with the MAAPP is mandatory. These policies, designed to prevent abuse in sport and ensure federal law requirements are met, encompass various aspects of adult-minor athlete interactions, including one-on-one interactions, training sessions, massages, electronic communications, transportation, and lodging. You can review USA Triathlon's MAAPP here
Please note that all adult participants – including adult athletes and those with one-day memberships – are Mandatory Reporters, and are required to report any form of abuse or misconduct they witness or suspect within a 24-hour period, with reporting avenues provided by both the U.S. Center for SafeSport and USA Triathlon.
In the event of witnessing MAAPP violations or related misconduct, individuals are required to report promptly, either to the U.S. Center for SafeSport or through USA Triathlon's reporting channels. If the alleged abuse is sexual in nature or involves child abuse, reports must be made to law enforcement and directly to the U.S. Center for SafeSport.
