1976 – 2026 Ever since we first set out to take travellers on one-of-a-kind trips in 1976, Uniworld has been all about the guest-driven approach. We listen, we research, and we innovate—not only to discover what our guests are telling us they want and need, but to also anticipate what they are missing out on. That’s how you get to the heart of what a great vacation really is. As the first American company to cruise the rivers of Europe, we’ve had the time to learn along the way and reinvent the format entirely. Uniworld lengthened cruise itineraries to one, two, even three week stretches, and introduced all-inclusive pricing. We handpicked destinations our guests would be looking for, then snuck in a few hidden gems we just knew they’d come to love. Perhaps most importantly, our ships offered the boutique hotel experience early river cruisers desired: designs with character, hotel-style beds, and delicious onboard dining. And by making their favorite boutique hotels float, now our guests could travel in all-inclusive luxury to multiple destinations, without having to unpack between each stop. But we didn’t stop there. Every year, we pay close attention to the world of travel and the feedback of our guests to create better and better travel experiences. When we joined The Travel Corporation’s collection of award-winning travel brands in 2004, our mission became elevating river cruising to new heights. As part of our dedication to sustainability, we focus on making a positive impact and advocating for environmental, social, and economic responsibility. We’re proud to be part of The Travel Corporation (TTC) and further its How We Tread Right strategy, which is anchored to the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals. Under the guidance of Uniworld’s Sustainability Officer, Julie Higgins, we’ve made significant progress across several areas of operation. Read our recent highlights below. 01 CLIMATE ACTION We’ve become the only cruise line to join Path2Zero, a research project aimed at reaching net-zero carbon emissions in Europe. We’re contributing financial support, advice, and the expertise of our captains and engineers, who are helping test real-world solutions in the program’s “Living Labs.” 02
02 FOOD WASTE Over the last couple of years, we’ve piloted a comprehensive food waste measurement and reduction system known as Leanpath on select ships. So far, we’ve eliminated over 50 tons of food waste, equating to a 36% reduction. In other numbers, that’s 93,305 meals, 354 metric tons of CO2, or 1,247,516 bathtubs of water! 03 ELIMINATING PLASTIC We’re eliminating single-use plastics a cross our fleet by introducing refillable toiletry dispensers, bamboo room keys, cloth laundry bags, and more. Along the way, we’ve discovered that these high quality, sustainable alternatives
