Katowice is the first city in Central and Eastern Europe with the title of the European City of Science. This remarkable achievement would not have been possible without the Silesian Science Festival Katowice.

For 50 weeks in 2024, scientists, local residents, and visitors from across the world gathered together to celebrate knowledge through a rich programme of inspiring events, conferences, workshops, and science outreach initiatives.

You’ve created a wonderful and impressive event, with all the diversity, knowledge presented in an accessible way, professional organisation, beautiful setting, and amazing atmosphere where, once again, we soaked up science. A huge round of applause for everyone who has come up with the idea, organised, and has been running the Silesian Science Festival in Katowice! I was there on Saturday and Sunday. I am very impressed by the scale of this event and the variety of the activities. I watched a demonstration on how to guide a computer cursor across the screen using just your eyes and head movements. I attended a fascinating talk about the structure and capabilities of the brain given by a doctor from Manchester, as well as one by Dr. Tomasz Rożek. And Prof. Norman Davies – extraordinary.

Without exaggeration, this is truly a BIG DEAL! I am both surprised and positively ‘uplifted’ that this turned out to be such a massive science communication event. No doubt the organisers planned it to be this way! But we—‘old-timers’—often have our reservations, yet this time, I am simply ENRAPTURED! If someone lets me know that this event is happening again next year, then—life permits—I’ll definitely want to come back and look through those lenses and at all those other ‘gizmos.’ (...) The highest organisational standards – Festival as seen by international guests

The Silesian Science Festival in Katowice is a wonderful experience! The audience is very engaged and inquisitive. After each of my talks, I had the opportunity to engage in a series of interesting questions and conversations with festival attendees, and I myself had a great time during the rest of the event.

This is a science festival on steroids! I’ve attended many, spoken at a few, but the Silesian Science Festival blows them all out of the water. Between the lectures, which were very popular, I strolled with interest among the booths and exhibition areas. There were thousands of spectators.
