The Patrick Leahy Honors College at UVM Students are automatically considered for the Honors College when they apply. 250+ students make up the first-year Honors College Class (100+ additional students with outstanding records join them as sophomores).

UVM’s Class of 2029 marks another record high in academic achievement. 19% of the class hails from Vermont (with over half the state’s valedictorians enrolling and students from all 14 counties). More than 50% of the new class comes from outside New England, with 47 states and 40 countries represented.

Application Updates for 2025-2026 UVM continues to offer several early application options: Early Decision I (deadline November 1), Early Action (deadline November 1), and Early Decision II (deadline January 15). The Regular Decision deadline is January 15. Our test optional policy continues for students applying Fall 2026 and beyond and new this year, students who choose to submit test scores can opt to self-report them on their application. Students applying for need-based financial aid only need to submit the FAFSA.

UVM – An R1 Institution This winter the University of Vermont was recognized among the top tier of universities categorized by the Carnegie Classification of Institutions of Higher Education as R1 – a recognition of an extremely robust research enterprise, and a designation earned by less than 3% of U.S. higher education institutions.

10% of first year UVM applicants are selected for the Honors College.

STEM Scholars: Leading Change Program A cohort-based learning community for future leaders in STEM committed to inclusive excellence. Scholars participate in research, intergroup dialogue, self-advocacy, and leadership activities while earning their degree. The program begins with a six-week summer bridge experience including coursework, lab research, and technical skill-building. Admitted Early Decision I and Early Action applicants in eligible STEM majors are considered for Scholars by invitation. Learn more at uvm.edu/cems/stemscholars. Vermont Pitch Challenge An international competition for high school entrepreneurs to pitch innovative business ideas that make a positive impact. Participants receive expert guidance on writing business plans and creating compelling pitches, competing for cash prizes and a full UVM scholarship. Scholarships and Financial Aid

Liberal Arts Scholars Program An invitation-based program for first-year students in the College of Arts and Sciences. Students join one of six themed cohorts—Arts, Earth & Environment, Humanities, Life Science, Social Science, or World Language—each with 25 students or fewer. The program offers opportunities for research, internships, fellowships, and applying for sophomore entry into the Patrick Leahy Honors College. Learn more at uvm.edu/cas/lasp.

Undergraduate Business Co-op Program UVM recently received a $15 million gift from the Grossman Family Foundation to establish a new Undergraduate Business Co-op Program. This program will provide hands-on work experience, connecting students with leading businesses and preparing them for successful careers in a rapidly changing economy. New Center for Health and Wellbeing Plans are underway for a new $16 million building that will unite medical services, mental health counseling, and physical therapy under one roof for students. The new building will more than double the current space on campus and will be situated in a more central location, within walking distance for most students living on campus. The building is set to open in Fall 2026.

36 Accelerated Master’s Programs UVM offers 36 accelerated master’s programs (AMPs) in engineering, education, data science and other fields.
