Education with Professional Educator License (M.Ed.) PROGRAM OVERVIEW SCAN TO VIEW THE CURRICULUM FOR THIS PROGRAM

The Master of Education with Professional Educator License is for aspiring educators with a bachelor’s degree in a field other than education. Upon successful completion, graduates earn a master’s degree and an Illinois Professional Educator License. Options with licensure for this program include: • Elementary Education • Middle Grades Education • Secondary Education • Special Education •

Visual Arts Education

Theory and practice integrate through professional coursework and field experiences in area schools. These experiences provide opportunities for future educators to observe skilled teachers, practice emerging skills, and apply knowledge gained from university coursework to elementary, middle, and secondary classrooms. The licensure program culminates in an advanced internship (student teaching) during which teacher candidates synthesize the knowledge, skills and dispositions required in the teaching profession.
