/ Introducing the new Maker Space Charter! The Maker Space is more than just a workspace - it’s a community built on creativity, collaboration, and respect. To reinforce our shared values and commitment to safe, inclusive, and equitable making, we’re excited to introduce the Maker Space Charter! Designed and crafted by Maker Space Manager, Mike Walsh, the charter is proudly displayed on our wall. It serves as a clear guide to our ways of working, outlining the responsibilities of every Maker Space user. At its core, the charter is about fostering a friendly, respectful, and supportive learning environment where everyone feels welcome to explore, experiment, and innovate. We hope this initiative will strengthen our Salford Maker community and inspire even more creativity and collaboration. Come check it out next time you’re in the space and let’s continue to make great things together!
/ A Milestone for the Maker Space: Welcoming Our First Intern! The Maker Space is thrilled to welcome Dan Bennett-Young as our very first intern, thanks to the Graduate Attainment Programme (GAP)! Dan joins us as a Design Technician on our Technical Team, where he'll be learning the ins and outs of the Maker Space, supporting students, and leading Maker Sessions. Over the next three months, he’ll be diving into hands-on experience, gaining invaluable skills, and helping to fuel creativity in our community. The Graduate Attainment Programme is more than just an internship—it’s a stepping stone to success. This initiative provides graduates with paid opportunities to develop essential skills, gain real-world experience, and prepare for the dynamic challenges of a modern career. With the support of a comprehensive Career Management coaching and mentoring programme, participants like Dan are empowered to make the most of their internship and confidently take their next step into the professional world. We’re excited to see what Dan will accomplish and how he’ll help shape the future of the Maker Space. Welcome, Dan!
