About the Speakers
Lynn Valbuena
Chairwoman, Yuhaaviatam of San Manuel Nation
Honorary Doctor of Humane Letters
For nearly five decades, Chairwoman Valbuena has held elected and appointed leadership positions within the Yuhaaviatam tribal government. Her service includes several Tribal Council officer roles, including Secretary/Treasurer and Vice Chairwoman, and she is now in her fifth term as Chairwoman.
She is also serving a 27th year as Chairwoman of the Tribal Alliance of Sovereign Indian Nations and has held leadership positions with the California Nations Indian Gaming Association, the National Indian Gaming Association, and the National Congress of American Indians. She serves on the Advisory Council for the American Indian Chamber of Commerce of California, a position she has held since the organization’s founding more than 20 years ago.
Lynn began her career with the San Bernardino Police Department, ultimately becoming the department’s public information officer. She retired from the department when she was elected Chairwoman of Yuhaaviatam of the San Manuel Nation.
She has received numerous distinctions throughout her career, including being named a Distinguished Benefactor Honoree by the San Bernardino County Safety Employees’ Benefit Association and was recognized as a Woman of Distinction by former California State Senator Bill Emmerson. She is also a Women Empowering Women for Indian Nations Honoree and was inducted into the American Gaming Association Hall of Fame in 2018. In that same year, Lynn received an Honorary Doctorate in Humane Letters from Northern Arizona University.

Student Commencement Speaker
Miyoki Homma Gonzalez is a graduate of the Master of Science in Business Analytics (MSBA) program. With over 20 years of leadership in project management and busi-ness consulting—including senior roles at Accenture and a federal government agen-cy in Mexico—she specializes in transforming complex data into actionable strategic insights.
At Redlands, Miyoki contributed to the Geospatial Climate-Sustainability and Hun-saker Teaching and Learning Initiatives, advancing the integration of business, sus-tainability, GIS, AI, and immersive technologies in research and higher education.
A presenter at the 2026 Los Angeles Geospatial Summit, she delivered pioneering analysis on the relationship between AI infrastructure and global energy constraints.
As a certified Project Management Professional (PMP), Miyoki now applies her exper-tise to preserve and analyze a 20-year global artistic legacy. An international student, she is deeply honored to represent the Class of 2026, celebrating a journey of resilience and the transformative power of the Redlands experience.
