Dear Friends of the Faculty
Completing my first term in office and starting my second recently I trust that I have been able to make my views known on many issues. I feel privileged to have had the opportunity to serve TuksLaw and still have the chance to continue my service to the University of Pretoria and the Faculty of Law. I thank the academic and admin staff — and of course, the combined hard work of the Deputy Dean Anton Kok, Heads of Departments, staff and students — to keep us on the continent and worldwide map.
For those students who are moving on to their respective chosen careers, I wish you the very best, stay in touch as proud alumni and for others who remain behind I wish you success in your studies in 2016.
Although the coming months will be difficult, including the reconstruction of the Law Building, with hard choices to be made as certain priorities are elevated over others, we will do it with our values stated clearly, with thoughtful discussion, and ultimately with an outcome that reaffirms who we are and what we want to become.
Over the past academic year, we faced change, challenge and uprising, and celebrated our successes together.
As you will note from this newsletter our faculty and staff have been recognised by countless national and international organisations and agencies over the past year, as well as by the University community.
