Students in the Department of Communication, Film, and Media Studies won five Student Emmy Awards and four honorable mentions in six major categories at this year’s National Academy of Television Arts & Sciences Student Production — Boston/ New England Chapter. In the past five years, students have won over 30 first-place awards.

Interior Design Accreditation

The University has accreditation from the prestigious Council for Interior Design Accreditation (CIDA). This designates the University’s B.F.A. in Interior Design as the only CIDA-accredited interior design program in Connecticut.

University of New Haven-Riyadh

The University of New Haven is the ﬁrst U.S. university approved to establish an international branch campus in Saudi Arabia, bringing more than a century of academic excellence to the heart of Riyadh. Opening in fall 2026, the Riyadh Campus is located in Mohammed Bin Salman Nonproﬁt City “Misk City” in Riyadh. Designed to support education, innovation, entrepreneurship, and talent development, Misk City brings learning, work, culture, and community life together in one destination, aligned with the ambitions of Saudi Vision 2030.

A NEW HOME FOR THE POMPEA COLLEGE OF BUSINESS This 80,000-square-foot facility will prominently feature suites dedicated to career development, mentorship, recruiting, and advising. The space will also feature a simulated ﬁnancial trading room, a business analytics/AI lab, a learning lab for student research, and a student-run café operated by hospitality and tourism management students as well as state-of-the-art classrooms, faculty ofﬁces, a theaterstyle lecture hall, and an executive seminar room.

The Band

The University of New Haven Chargers Marching Band is a source of pride for the University community. Starting in 2009 with only 20 members, this spectacular ensemble has grown to well over 280 — capturing New England’s attention.

When an Acrobatic Boot Goes Viral University of New Haven men’s soccer player Lukian Lawro ’27 scored the No. 1 play on ESPN’s SportsCenter Top 10 on Aug. 25, 2025, with a spectacular bicycle kick against Providence College, securing a 1-0 victory for the Chargers in their inaugural Division I season. The acrobatic goal became a national highlight for the program, garnering over one million views on social media, and was ultimately named Men’s College Goal of the Year by TopDrawerSoccer.com.

Intramural Sports Intramural Sports are organized sports leagues, one-day tournaments, and special events that provide participants the opportunity to compete against and engage with their fellow students and university community. RECENT ACCOMPLISHMENTS Club Women’s Soccer – NEPL Connecticut Cup Champions Club Women’s Soccer hosted the Connecticut Cup presented by the NEPL at Kathy Zolad Stadium. The Chargers survived the pool of Central Connecticut, Hartford, Yale, Fairﬁeld, Trinity, and Wesleyan club teams to secure ﬁrst place on their home turf. Club Men’s Rugby – Cianci 7’s Runner Up Club Men’s Rugby traveled to Seekonk, Massachusetts, and defeated teams from around the Northeast to secure silver at the Cianci 7’s Tournament presented by Beast of the East. The team now proudly displays their trophy in the Beckerman Recreation Center trophy case. With this, they are on their way to qualifying for the national competition in Texas. JET SET YOUR SUCCESS In addition to 100+ study abroad programs, our international satellite campus provides a unique environment for intensive study in particular ﬁelds and programs, rewarding collaboration between faculty and students, and immersive cultural exploration.

Prato, Tuscany, Italy

The University of New Haven opened its ﬁrst international satellite campus in Prato, Italy, in the fall of 2012. This historic city is the second largest in the Tuscany region and is just 20 minutes from the arts hub of Florence and one hour from Pisa by train. While abroad, our students have the opportunity to enroll in ﬁve classes — including perennial offerings and courses that change each year — taught by both University of New Haven and Italian faculty. The tuition and fees for our Prato campus are the same as our West Haven campus, with the addition of airfare and other travel expenses.

NOW The University of New Haven offers both binding and non-binding admission programs for ﬁrst-year student fall admission: Early Decision, Early Action I, Early Action II, and Regular Decision. Transfer applications are accepted on a rolling basis for both the fall and spring semesters. Students should expect to receive a decision on their completed application within four to six weeks of when the application is complete. Early Decision vs. Early Action

If the University of New Haven is your deﬁnite ﬁrst choice, you should plan on applying for Early Decision. By applying for binding Early Decision, students are agreeing to enroll at the University of New Haven if they are offered admission. If we are one of your top schools but you would like to keep your options open, you should plan on applying for Early Action. Early Action means you will receive a decision on your application much earlier in the process, giving you more time to make an informed decision about your college choice before the May 1 enrollment deadline. Students who are admitted under Early Decision or Early Action will receive a guaranteed minimum of $20,000 in annual merit scholarship. Please note that accepted students may receive a maximum of one merit scholarship.

Test Optional

The University of New Haven is a test optional institution, so many programs and populations may choose whether to have their SAT or ACT scores considered. Please review newhaven.edu/testoptional our full policy by visiting newhaven.edu/testoptional. For applicants unsure of whether they should send their scores or not, we encourage you to submit your scores. We follow a “do no harm” policy, so if scores are not required for your particular program or population, we will only use scores that are favorable to your decision.

FINANCIAL AID AND COST The cost of a college education doesn’t have to feel overwhelming. There are many sources of ﬁnancial aid, including the U.S. federal government, the state in which you reside, your college or university, a host of nonproﬁts, and many private organizations. What forms do they take? Everything from loans to scholarships to grants. Work-study, too. You will use them to cover tuition, fees, housing and meals, books and supplies, and transportation — everything you need to make your college education a reality.

Need-Based Financial Aid Programs Many need-based federal grants and loans are available through the comprehensive Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) at studentaid.gov. To apply for financial aid, submit your FAFSA by the March 1 priority deadline (use our Federal code: 001397). If you wish to receive a financial aid package earlier in the process, you should fill out the FAFSA much earlier than the priority deadline.

SCHOLARSHIPS THAT HELP Merit-Based Scholarships Merit-based scholarships are awarded to full-time students on the basis of their cumulative academic achievement and application materials and require no additional applications or paperwork on your part. Just submit your application to be considered. Merit scholarship awards range from $15,000 to $33,000 annually, and accepted students may receive a maximum of one merit scholarship.
