ALI GOLBAZI, PH.D.
ELECTRICAL, COMPUTER ENGINEERING, COMPUTER SCIENCE
Ali Golbazi embodies the highest ideals of academic life. He is a gifted educator, a visionary department leader, and a steadfast champion of his students, colleagues, and the University of New Haven.
Dr. Golbazi has demonstrated a deep commitment to the art and craft of teaching, bringing intellectual depth and practical relevance to every course he delivers. His enthusiasm for his discipline has always extended far beyond the classroom.
Under his guidance, the Electrical & Computer Engineering and Computer Science Department has grown to become the largest in the Tagliatela College of Engineering, offering a number of forward-looking undergraduate and graduate programs.
Recognizing the importance of nurturing interest in engineering at an early age, Dr. Golbazi led the University’s partnership with Project Lead The Way, a national nonprofit dedicated to transforming K–12 education through hands-on, projectbased STEM learning, creating a strong pipeline of talented students to the University.
Dr. Golbazi has contributed immeasurably to every dimension of the University’s mission. His legacy is written not only in the programs he built and the accolades he earned, but also in the culture of excellence, collegiality, and purpose he has helped to create and sustain.

ISMAIL ORABI, PH.D.
MECHANICAL & INDUSTRIAL ENGINEERING
Ismail Orabi has always held his students to the highest academic standards, and the record shows they are better for it. He has educated scores of mechanical engineering students, equipping them with the analytical rigor, technical depth, and professional habits of mind that have served them exceptionally well throughout their careers.
If there is a single achievement that defines Dr. Orabi’s legacy in the Tagliatela College of Engineering, it is his pioneering work in securing industry-sponsored capstone design projects for mechanical engineering students.
For students entering the job market, this experience is transformative. Not only do they develop technical competence, but they also gain the confidence, professional judgment, and portfolio of work that set them apart from their peers.
What began as one faculty member’s commitment to his students has become a defining feature of the Tagliatela College of Engineering’s educational identity.
Dr. Orabi has helped create a bridge between the classroom and professional life that has benefited countless students and, through them, the industries and communities they now serve. The University of New Haven is profoundly grateful for his unwavering dedication and is proud to celebrate a career of such enduring distinction.
