A STANDOUT CLINICAL EXPERIENCE
In their third year, students complete a year-long clinical rotation, which can be undertaken entirely in either Pamplona or Madrid. Throughout the academic year, they develop clinical experience across the core disciplines of medical training, including medical and surgical specialties, Psychiatry, Paediatrics, Obstetrics and Gynaecology, Emergency Medicine, Radiology and Primary Care.

As the medical profession continues to evolve, future physicians need more than scientific knowledge and clinical expertise, they need a deeply human, patient-centre approach to care. To foster this, the School of Medicine provides opportunities for students to reflect on the values, responsibilities and professionalism that shape the medical profession. This reflective dimension complements the hands-on training students receive in the Simulation Centre, the Simulated Clinical Area and the hospital. Through this combination of practice and guided reflection, students develop their professional identity with a strong commitment to compassionate, patient-centred care.

Our mission is to educate healthcare professionals with a strong scientific and technical foundation, profound respect for human life and human rights, the dignity of every patient and their family, and a deep commitment to serving society. This vision is brought to life through the University of Navarra’s Integrated Curriculum, a pioneering programme unique in Spain. Designed to prepare the physicians of tomorrow, it empowers students to take an active role in their own learning while benefiting from close academic guidance and personalised mentoring from faculty throughout their medical education. This integrated, contextualised approach to medical education is supported by active learning methodologies, including problem-based learning, team-based learning, medical simulation and clinical case discussions.
– Internacional Standard The project was designed over several years with the guidance of senior professors from Harvard Medical School, one of the leading educational institutions in curricular integration. In addition, the School is one of the first centres in Spain to be accredited with the international quality seal of the World Federation for Medical Education, an essential requirement since 2024 for undertaking medical specialization or placements in the USA, Canada, Australia, or New Zealand.

To offer a truly global medical education, the University of Navarra School of Medicine launched the International Programme in Medicine in 2013 as a complement to the Degree in Medicine. Through specialised coursework, English-medium instruction and international clinical placements, the programme prepares students for an international medical career. If you choose to study Medicine in Spain, the International Programme in Medicine at the University of Navarra offers a distinctive educational experience, including: • Courses taught in English during the first year and selected elective courses from the second year onwards. • A global medical vision and experience through international clinical rotations with our partner university hospitals (available to a limited number of top-performing students). • Exclusive opportunities to work with international specialists in intensive workshops.

Diplomas and Specializations SPECIALIZATION
Surgical Diploma The Surgical Diploma is a University-specific qualification complementary to the Degree in Medicine, offered by the School of Medicine at the University of Navarra. Its goal is to provide students with the skills necessary to begin their professional career in the surgical field with greater confidence and competence. Medical specialties with a surgical component are divided into two categories:
01. SURGICAL SPECIALTIES
General and Digestive Surgery, Orthopedic Surgery and Traumatology, Neurosurgery, Plastic, Aesthetic and Reconstructive Surgery, Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery, Pediatric Surgery, Cardiac Surgery, Vascular Surgery, and Thoracic Surgery.
02. MEDICAL-SURGICAL SPECIALTIES
Urology, Gynecology and Obstetrics, Dermatology, Ophthalmology, and Otolaryngology (ENT)
↑ All diploma courses combine theoretical knowledge with hands-on learning. To earn the diploma, students must successfully complete the required courses and achieve the corresponding ECTS.

School of Medicine
Diploma in Biomedical Research This University-specific qualification offered by the School of Medicine at the University of Navarra complements the Degree in Medicine and allows students to explore a critical area for the medical profession: Biomedical Research. To this end, the diploma includes: • Theoretical and practical subjects in biomedical research: all are elective subjects in the Degree in Medicine. • Practical training carried out in the laboratories of the School of Medicine, Clínica Universidad de Navarra, and the Center for Applied Medical Research (CIMA). • Development and defence of a research project. • Research mentor: Each student enrolled in this diploma is assigned a faculty research mentor who supervises and assesses their laboratory work throughout the programme. Mentors also take part in the student selection process and contribute to the teaching of elective courses.

INTERNATIONAL BACCALAUREATE (IB)
There are different admission pathways to #MedUNAV, depending on each applicant's academic background. Applicants who are eligible to apply through more than one pathway (for example, Spanish or international students completing the International Baccalaureate) must choose a single admission route and submit their application through the myUNAV portal. Applicants wishing to enrol in the Degree in Medicine + International Programme must also meet the programme's English language requirements.
Spanish and international applicants in their final year of secondary education (or an equivalent qualification), regardless of nationality, may apply through the School's on-campus admission test. Applicants to either the Degree in Medicine or the Degree in Medicine + International Program must have achieved a minimum final grade of 7/10 in their penultimate year of high school ( first year of upper secondary education or its equivalent). The admission test is held on the Pamplona campus and may be taken in either Spanish or English on the dates published in the admissions calendar.
Diplomas and Specializations
This admission pathway consists of the ISAT examination together with an online test conducted by the School in English. It is open to applicants completing the final year of secondary education (or an equivalent qualification) at a school located outside Spain, regardless of nationality. Applicants must have achieved a minimum final grade of 7/10 in their penultimate year of high- school ( first year of upper secondary education or its equivalent). The test is held on the dates indicated in the admissions calendar.
Students completing the International Baccalaureate (IB) may apply for admission to the University of Navarra School of Medicine using their predicted grades, provided they meet the minimum entry requirements established by #MedUNAV. Applicants must present: Predicted IB score of at least 37 points. A minimum grade of 6 in Higher Level Biology and 6 in Higher Level Chemistry. A successful personal interview with the Admissions Office to assess their suitability for the recommended applicant profile. Only grades included in the official IB transcript will be considered by the School of Medicine.
