UNIVERSIDAD TORCUATO DI TELLA RESEARCH NEWSLETTER

Universidad Torcuato Di Tella is a research university whose mission is to contribute to the advancement of knowledge, the pursuit of intellectual, scientific, and artistic excellence within a framework of freedom of expression, pluralism, and diversity of approaches. The Research Newsletter reflects the research activity of our Faculty. It includes publications, awards, research grants and fellowships received, as well as participation in national and international seminars and conferences. To disseminate the research conducted by our regular academic staff to an international audience, the Newsletter is published biannually in both Spanish and English. This newsletter is a joint effort of the Academic Secretariat of the University and the Research Support area of the Library. Each publication reflected in this newsletter contributes to updating our Digital Repository and to the acquisition of new books by Universidad Torcuato Di Tella authors published each semester.

NEW EMERITI FACULTY In 2025, the University appointed Professors Roberto Russell and Ricardo Salvatore as Emeritus Professors. This appointment is an institutional recognition of their invaluable contributions to the intellectual life of our University.

Ricardo D. Salvatore holds a Ph.D. in Economics from the University of Texas at Austin and a Bachelor’s degree in Economics from the Universidad Nacional de Córdoba. He has been a professor at Universidad Torcuato Di Tella since 1994 and currently serves as Director of the Master’s and Doctoral programs in History. He has been a visiting professor at Harvard, Yale, Columbia, the London School of Economics, and other prestigious universities, and has been a Guggenheim, Fulbright, and Tocqueville fellow. He is a pioneering researcher in anthropometric history, criminal justice, and the cultural history of Latin America, and has published more than 100 academic works. His books include Wandering Paysanos and Disciplinary Conquest (Duke University Press), and the edited volume Living Standards in Latin American History (Harvard University Press). Roberto Russell holds a Ph.D. in International Relations from SAIS, Johns Hopkins University; a Law degree from the Universidad de Buenos Aires; and a Bachelor’s degree in International Relations from the Universidad del Salvador. He has been a professor at Universidad Torcuato Di Tella since 1993 and served as the founding director of the Master’s and Doctoral programs in International Studies. He has been a visiting professor at SAIS, Georgetown University, the University of Salamanca, Sciences Po, and Beijing University, among other institutions. He is a pioneering researcher in the study of international relations from a Latin American perspective and has published and edited numerous books and more than 150 articles in Argentina and abroad on international relations theory and Argentine foreign policy. Between 1993 and 2004, he was Director of Academic Affairs at the Instituto del Servicio Exterior de la Nación (ISEN), where he promoted its reform and federalization. DITELLIANOS ’25 Universidad Torcuato Di Tella stands out for the vitality and breadth of its intellectual production. Each year, the research projects, book chapters, and books produced by our academic staff enrich public debate, expand disciplinary boundaries, and strengthen UTDT’s academic presence both nationally and internationally. In this context, the Library presents a new section that compiles and highlights books authored by members of the Di Tella community during the year, as a way of reflecting a substantive part of our community’s scientific and cultural contribution.
