MORNINGSIDE HEALTHCARE BACKGROUND & CHALLENGE Morningside Healthcare, a subsidiary of Aspire Pharma, is a UK based pharmaceutical company dedicated to providing high quality, affordable medicines that support better patient care. With a strong heritage in generics and branded products, Morningside focuses on delivering reliable treatments across multiple therapeutic areas while maintaining rigorous regulatory and quality standards. Part of its ethos is supporting humanitarian aid. In November 2025, Uniserve was tasked with developing a robust supply chain solution to support Morningside’s IGO client. The requirement involved delivering two sizeable consignments of urgently needed pharmaceutical products into the West Bank during a period of significant unrest in the region.

SOLUTION To meet the requirements of the shipment, the UniOcean team developed a robust ocean freight solution involving the movement of three reefer containers. Uniserve contracted an NVO ocean carrier and worked extensively with both the IGO's freight agent at destination and the client to coordinate and manage the movement throughout the supply chain. The solution utilised an ocean service to Ashdod, Israel, followed by onward temperature-controlled land transportation into Ramallah in the West Bank. Throughout the project, close collaboration between all stakeholders ensured that the pharmaceutical products were transported safely and efficiently despite the challenging operating environment. Careful planning, continuous communication, and proactive management of the supply chain helped maintain service continuity and protect the integrity of the temperature-sensitive cargo. OUTCOME As a result of the close collaboration between the UniOcean division and Morningside, we’re proud to report that the urgently needed goods were successfully supplied in Jerusalem to support the humanitarian aid effort in the region.

DEPARTMENT OF HEALTH & SOCIAL CARE BACKGROUND & CHALLENGE The Department of Health & Social Care (DHSC) is responsible for supporting the government in improving the quality of care and meeting patient expectations. Representatives of the DHSC contacted Uniserve – along with a number of other major international logistics companies – looking for urgent help in March 2020. The UK needed to source supplies of medical equipment for frontline key workers in huge quantities, but the NHS’s usual vendors of PPE couldn’t keep pace with soaring global demand. Alternatives had to be found, and quickly. We had supported prior, by moving ventilators from China to the UK. Uniserve responded without hesitation, fulfilling all we had promised on urgent international deliveries. The situation rapidly evolved, and Uniserve were asked to urgently move medical goods from China, Europe and the rest of the world.

SOLUTION Uniserve was tasked with managing the entire Government supply chain from vendor to UK DCs and frontline workers, equating to over 35 billion units of PPE & Test Kits into the UK from over 350 global suppliers. Our support included professional services, freight & logistics, vendor management, data & analytics, quality control, traceability and more. OUTCOME Uniserve teams managed: • 35billion units of product • 350 global suppliers • 1,500 full air charter flights of medical equipment, • 2,500 containers of PPE from China by dedicated charter rail services • 15,000 containers of PPE by ocean Activity commenced in March 2020 until late 2021 with our dedicated experts supporting the DHSC through a number of professional services. The forward thinking, adaptability and resilience of our rapid response teams meant that the DHSC were fully supported with freight, logistics and supply chain management to the fullest extent. Our One World technology enabled the DHSC to implement and maintain a procurement platform giving full end to end visibility and traceability of medical equipment. Capabilities were maximised and the PPE supply chain was as effective as possible. Part of GB Global

INNOVA MEDICAL GROUP BACKGROUND & CHALLENGE Innova Medical Group was the leading manufacture and distribution of rapid antigen and antibody test kits for COVID-19 disease detection. In December 2021 the UK Health Security Agency (UKHSA) announced a program to support the daily testing of all citizens of the UK in the runup to Christmas and into the New Year. To meet the expected demand, orders were placed with several approved suppliers and Innova received an award, initially for 100 million kits, which quickly rose to 350 million based on their ability to supply the number of kits required.

SOLUTION Our teams in the UK and Xiamen sprang into action to liaise with the factory locally and set up a receiving warehouse, from where we allocated the correct volume of kits to flights being contracted in conjunction with the charter broker. The scale of the operation required the use of numerous carriers and the sheer volume of flights meant we were managing actual flight departures from 11 airports across China. On arrival in the UK time was of the essence to recover kits from the carrier, break and palletise the cartons, customs clear and coordinate for delivery within 48 to 72 hours of landing. With multiple arrivals per day, there was a need to utilise multiple airports of arrival to facilitate the volume. We had to coordinate teams across a total of 8 different UK airports from Scotland down to the South Coast. OUTCOME In total over this project, we managed 163 flights, with a combination of freighter and passenger conversion aircraft. We made 801 full load deliveries between 5th January and the 10th March 2021, across a combination of UKHSA distribution centres, Royal Mail sites and pharmacy distribution sites across England, Scotland, and Northern Ireland. Using our knowledge, experience, flexibility, and fast problem-solving skills we supported Innova in achieving its commitment to the UKHSA, and in providing the public with confidence when meeting loved ones over the holiday period.

Our client’s Medlogistix e-procurement system means their clients are promised right product, right quality, right time. Critical Healthcare’s products are sourced globally and are a diverse range of medical equipment and supplies. In the case of one of their suppliers, Uniserve were tasked with providing the most economic and time effective form of transport for blood-glucose testing kits, incorporating magnesium strips, sourced from Taiwan.

CARECO UK LIMITED BACKGROUND & CHALLENGE CareCo is a company that specialises in providing mobility solutions for individuals with various mobility challenges. They offer a diverse range of products including mobility scooters, riser recliner chairs, wheelchairs, and disposable items. These products are sourced from a wide network of manufacturers located in the far east, primarily China. A significant challenge faced by CareCo was the transportation of their powered mobility products, many of which are powered by lithium-ion batteries. These batteries are classified as dangerous goods due to their potential fire risk, and their transportation is subject to strict regulations to ensure safety. UN3480 and UN3481 regulations apply, which prohibit the loose transportation of lithium without the correct UN certification. This means that equipment transported with battery packs must adhere to UN3481, while loose lithium must comply with UN3480.

SOLUTION UniOcean collaborated closely with CareCo and their network of suppliers to develop a solution that would ensure compliance with the dangerous goods regulations while facilitating the transportation of powered mobility products from China to the UK. Through collaborative efforts, UniOcean and CareCo ensured that both the batteries and the mobility equipment were correctly certified before transportation. OUTCOME As a result of the collaboration between CareCo and UniOcean, a seamless and compliant supply chain solution was established for transporting powered mobility products and their associated lithium-ion batteries from China to the UK. The implemented solution ensured that the requisite documentation accompanied each shipment, providing transparency and evidence of compliance with the dangerous goods regulations throughout the transportation process. UniOcean's expertise in global supply chain management, combined with their understanding of the intricacies of dangerous goods regulations, enabled them to successfully navigate the complexities of shipping lithium-ion batterypowered products. The products were safely transported, and upon arrival in the UK, UniOcean's customs agents facilitated the clearance process to ensure swift and secure onward transport to CareCo's premises.
