“I have a dream that my four children will one day live in a nation where they will not be judged by the color of their skin but by the content of their character ...”
Honoring DR. MARTIN LUTHER KING, JR. Today we celebrate the legacy and life of a great figure in American history. From his beginnings, preaching in the Baptist churches of Montgomery, Alabama, to his triumphant marches on Washington D.C., Martin Luther King, Jr. believed in and lived for equality for all people. Through his speeches that will forever ring in our memories, and through nonviolent protests, Dr. King was at the center of the American Civil Rights movement. People of all races owe him a debt of gratitude for giving his life to the principles he so strongly believed in; principles that brought such positive change to our country.
We welcome you to share in the dream today. The national holiday honoring Dr. King is an occasion for joy and celebration for his life and work toward nonviolent social change in America and the world.
“Nonviolence is the answer to the crucial political and moral questions of our time: The need for man to overcome oppression and violence without resorting to oppression and violence. Man must evolve for all human conflict a method which rejects revenge, aggression and retaliation. The foundation of such a method is love.”
