As we conclude the first half of our sorority year and prepare for our summer hiatus, I want to express my sincere gratitude to each of you for your dedication, commitment, and hard work over the past six months. Because of your service, support, and sisterly spirit, our chapter has continued to thrive and make a meaningful impact on our community.
While our regular activities may slow down during the summer months, we will remain connected through chapter communications and special events. Please stay engaged and connected as we prepare for the 72nd Boule in Las Vegas, where our delegates will represent Alpha Gamma Omega Chapter and participate in the business and sisterhood of our international organization.
As we approach Juneteenth, we join communities across the nation in commemorating the day when the last enslaved African Americans in Texas learned of their freedom on June 19, 1865—more than two years after the Emancipation Proclamation was issued. Juneteenth is a celebration of freedom, resilience, progress, and the enduring contributions of African Americans to our nation. It serves as a reminder of our collective responsibility to continue advancing equity, opportunity, and justice for all.
We also proudly recognize Wear Pink, Spend Green, and Buy Black Month While we celebrate and support Black-owned businesses throughout the year, June provides a special opportunity to intentionally invest in and uplift Black entrepreneurs and communities through our purchasing power.
Our Build Our Economic Wealth Committee has planned several activities throughout the month to encourage participation and support of Black-owned businesses. Please be sure to add these events to your calendar and join us as we put our economic power into action. The committee has also provided a Black Index as a resource to help identify and patronize Black-owned businesses in our communities. We encourage you to utilize this valuable tool throughout the month and beyond as we continue our commitment to building economic wealth and strengthening our communities.
As Father's Day approaches, I extend warm wishes to all fathers, grandfathers, uncles, brothers, mentors, and father figures who make a positive difference in our lives. May they be celebrated and appreciated for the love, guidance, and support they provide.
