Media studies

The course is split into 4 main components and in all we must consider the context (or background).

1. Media Language – includes all the technical ideas that make up a media product. Terminology. 2. Representation – the media doesn’t present reality, it re-presents it. 3. Media Industries – who makes it? What’s the background? 4. Audiences – who is consuming the product? How are they accessing it? Categories.

All of this happens within a particular CONTEXT which means we need to know the circumstances of the product.
