A Message from the UFCU Board & Management
As
we approach the end of 2019, we wish our members happiness and prosperity during this holiday season. Your loyalty and trust in our financial institution allowed our credit union to show significant growth in loans and savings in 2019 – total assets exceeded $270 million, and our membership continues to increase.
With this kind of growth, we continue to control our expenses, resulting in earning net income that is higher than that of our peers. Our loan department does a great job in underwriting loans, and our delinquency and charge-off levels are minimal. Our credit union recently completed a thorough scheduled federal examination that confirmed our healthy financials and solid management of our organization.
2019 has been busy with expanding UFCU presence in new as well as existing markets. Our credit union established a foothold in North Carolina by opening a new branch in September in Matthews, NC. Greater Charlotte is a rapidly growing area –almost 1 million people moved to that area in the last 10 years, including some of our own members. We hope that our credit union becomes a primary financial institution to all members of our community in North Carolina.
In the beginning of 2019, the credit union purchased its own building in Portland, OR, and, in October, our branch moved to the new, larger facility. Our Sacramento branch moved to a
new location in Citrus Heights, and we added a new branch in Rancho Cordova to service the large Ukrainian community in that area.
At our recent strategic planning sessions UFCU leadership reviewed and confirmed its mission and vision of our organization, established strategic objectives in the areas of growth and expansion, product improvement and the service experience of our members. We realize that, as we experience rapid growth and expansion, we cannot lose our emphasis on member satisfaction. Customer Service remains the top priority for our leadership, and we will be implementing new service-related initiatives in 2020. We always welcome feedback. Member opinion is very important to us. Please feel free to contact any of our managers or board members if you have any suggestions or questions about our services. Thank you for your trust and business with our credit union!

The New York Credit Union Association honored Tamara Denysenko, UFCU Board Member, with the 2019 Volunteer of the Year award.
The award “recognizes volunteers who exemplify commitment to their credit unions and consistently embody the “people helping people” philosophy.” Since retiring as CEO of UFCU in 2010 Mrs. Denysenko has not only volunteered countless hours in her community, across New York state, and internationally, but she has also continued to be a strong advocate for credit unions around the world. Mrs. Denysenko is a wonderful ambassador, teacher, and friend to many, and we’re honored that she was and continues to be part of our Credit Union family.

WELCOME to CHARLOTTE!
On Thursday, September 26, 2019, Ukrainian Federal Credit Union held a Grand Opening and Ribbon Cutting event for its new branch in the Town of Matthews just beyond the reaches of downtown Charlotte, North Carolina.
CHARLOTTE BRANCH GRAND OPENING!
The event began with the reciting of the Pledge of Allegiance followed by an Opening Prayer delivered by Deacon Pavel Borishkevich of Good News Church. Ukrainian FCU President & Board Chairman, Wasyl Kornylo, and Ukrainian FCU CEO, Oleg Lebedko, delivered welcome remarks. The Honorable Paul F. Bailey, Mayor of Matthews, greeted attendees and welcomed the Credit Union to the area. The Credit Union was also honored to have President of the Ukrainian Congress Committee of
Mr. Oleg Lebedko stated that, “The Grand Opening of our Charlotte Branch marks a new chapter in the 65-year history of our Credit Union. Charlotte is growing, and so are we, and we’re excited to serve the community here as well as in neighboring towns and cities.”

Q. What did you want to be when you were 10?
A. A race car driver

A. Going on road trips and traveling, longboarding around downtown Charlotte, working on a car.

A. I love to serve in my local church in youth and teen ministries with organizing services and events.

A. Walking (parks, trails, forest), doing crossword puzzles and making floral arrangements

1 PORTLAND/VANCOUVER
The Ukrainian-American Cultural Association of OR & WA, a UFCU common bond organization, worked with Medical Teams International to help fill and ship a container full of medical supplies worth over $800,000 intended for Ukraine.
2 BUFFALO/AMHERST
In conjunction with the Polish-American Arts Festival we sponsored and took part in the annual Pulaski Day Parade.
3 ROCHESTER
UFCU common bond organizations
ROC Maidan and UNWLA Branch 120 organized a Cabaret Charity evening at the UCC of Rochester and raised $6,600 for psychological rehabilitation of Ukrainian military veterans at the Goshiv Monastery.
4 WEBSTER Webster branch shows their colors during the globally celebrated Vyshyvanka Day.

The election of directors to the board will take place in compliance with NCUA bylaws Article V, Section A4. The Chairman of the Board of Directors has appointed a nominating committee. There are two (2) vacancies for the board of directors, which must be filled for 2020. The nominating committee will nominate one member for each vacancy. These nominations will be filed with the Secretary of the credit union. Nominations will also be accepted by petition signed by one percent (1%) of the membership, or two hundred nineteen (219) members. To be effective, the petition has to be accompanied by a statement of qualifications, biographical data, photograph and a signed certificate from the nominees stating that they are agreeable to the nomination and will serve if elected to office.
The closing date for receiving any nominations by petition is Tuesday, March 17, 2020. Nominations must be filed with the Secretary of the credit union, Eugene Lylak, at 824 East Ridge Rd, Rochester, NY 14621. Nominations will be posted in each credit union office thirty-five (35) days prior to the annual meeting. Elections will not be conducted by mail ballot and there will be no nominations from the floor if only one nominee for each position was submitted. In the event there is more than one nominee for any position to be filled, voting instructions will be provided to all members eligible to vote.
