“WE START AND END WITH YOU!” This is our new UFCU slogan, filled with a commitment and affirmation to better serve you. Our Mission, Values and Goals are embedded in our culture to support our objectives and to provide you with quality services and solutions to fit your financial needs!
As a member of UFCU, you not only share in the many benefits and services that we offer but you also have the unique title of “shareholder” or “owner” of this financial organization. As a democratic institution that is regulated by the US Government Agency (National Credit Union Administration), being a member not only gives you a voice and stake in our credit union, but also secures your deposits up to $250,000 per account holder. As members you can expect a better value proposition when it comes to better dividends, loan interest rates and personalized financial solutions. In addition to this, we have forged many common bond member alliances in the diverse communities that we serve. Last year we supported over 100 educational, social and cultural events in the many local communities that we operate. This past year was another extraordinary one for us. Our financials were great, our membership keeps growing and our assets are approaching a quarter billion-dollar benchmark. Some of the key activities and highlights of this reporting period included: •N ational Recognition by NAFCU (National Association of Federally-Insured Credit Unions) of our credit union by designating the 2018 Volunteer of the Year Award that was presented to Wasyl Kornylo) •A ppointment of our new CLO (Chief Lending Officer), Maria Milazzo •C ompleted our Strategic Planning Workshop, in which Executive Staff, Volunteers and Board Members participated in planning discussions on technology, member service, professional development and future growth opportunities •A warded Scholarship grants for our student members
•P rovided Monetary support to our common bond community cultural organizations
•C ompleted Employee, Volunteer and Board of Directors Training Requirements • I mplemented online and proactive security enhancements
This past year marked our 65th Anniversary of providing financial services to our membership. Today, our Ukrainian Federal Credit Union, plays an invaluable role by providing stability in financial 4
services, maintaining a ready source of affordable credit, and offering you our members a safe and sound depository for your savings. UFCU is built on a tradition of people helping people – a tradition that is ongoing and that captures the spirit of America by continually serving the underserved. With over 21,000 members, $240M in assets, and capital reserves of over $22M, we continue to manage and minimize our risks, serve client financial needs while planning future successes and new milestone achievements. “You can buy a person’s hands, but you can’t buy their heart. Their heart is where their enthusiasm and their loyalty lays.” Our customer service strategy is our plan to win over the hearts of our employees, volunteers and directors. Currently, we are building a road map filled with shared values, procedures and measurements to help us move forward. Our planned process is to engage our entire credit union family with more coaching, training and “hands on” experiences to enhance socio-technical competencies, which we believe, will result in a higher level of member service. This is a cultural change that we believe is a necessary and crucial component for UFCU’s future and continued success. The board of directors support this philosophy, and the necessary investment it involves. By engaging this new strategy, we trust that our vision, mission and values, will enable you, our membership to make UFCU your first banking choice. We want to do the right thing, with every contact and conversation we have with you. In doing so, we trust we will earn your loyalty! As our credit union reached another milestone of $250 million in assets in the early 2019, I am happy to report our UFCU accomplishments for 2018, and to share our plans for this year and beyond.
Our year-end numbers and achievements are outstanding, as all of them showed significant growth in 2018: •E xcellent loan growth – 13%. Our lending team produced over $80 million in new loans! Best performer – Federal Way, WA branch – close to 80% growth! •M embership – we grew by 561 (net) new members. Again, our Federal Way branch was the leader – 33% growth.
•W e need deposit growth to continue making loans. Savings grew by about 8% in 2018, and the leader was our Boston branch with 60% growth!
•N et income - $1.76 million, much higher than the budgeted amount. It is very important to continue growing this number at the same rate as our asset growth, otherwise our capital ratio will decline. To earn higher net income the credit union needs to be as efficient as possible, in spite of our many physical branches. We are always working on maximizing the income and reducing the costs, by thoroughly reviewing our vendor agreements for potential savings, and encouraging cost-saving ideas from our staff to improve the efficiency of the credit union operations. •U FCU went through the federal examination, external audit and multiple internal audits – all confirming our adherence to credit union rules, regulations and policies. •O ur main office has been remodeled in 2018 – UFCU Rochester branch now looks modern, professional and welcoming.
•W e hosted several major credit union events in 2018 – 65th Annual meeting, followed by community meeting with a delegation from Ukraine, 50th anniversary of the Syracuse branch, member appreciation meetings, our traditional family fun day at Seabreeze, and others. We thanked our community for trust and support with sponsoring various organizations and events, and with 65 acts of kindness, where our staff and volunteers donated their time and funds to the community. •S everal new organizations and churches joined UFCU field of membership last year. We wanted to welcome them into our credit union family; we are confident that you will see the value of belonging to our cooperative financial institution. We are also thankful that many churches have entrusted us with financing their building purchases. 6
We finished the year with 11 branches across six different states. We had to close our Albany, NY branch in 2018, but most of our members in that area are still keeping their business with UFCU via e-channels and shared branching. As we start 2019, we have ambitious plans in place for expansion and growth in 2019: new branches in the Sacramento area and in North Carolina, moving some branches to new locations, new lending and deposit programs for our members. We are investing our resources into e-channels, to improve your online and mobile experience, to incorporate e-signing, e-forms and e-receipts into our loan and deposit processes. As always, our strategic initiative is providing the highest level of customer service to our members and to each other. During the year, we will be conducting several satisfaction surveys for our members and for our employees to make sure we know your opinions about our credit union, our workplace and our team. As Treasurer, I am pleased to report that UFCU has had yet another stellar year, financially. As you may know the credit union was established in 1953 as a cooperative association organized to promote thrift among its members and to create a source of credit for productive purposes.
It was member owned, run by volunteers and not for profit. For 65 years, and literally hundreds of volunteers later, UFCU has grown into a full service financial institution and has managed to hold the same guiding principles of people helping people. We have grown to 11 branches stretching the United States from coast to coast. We seek to serve you, our members, every day. Whether it is to deposit funds, obtain a loan, or seek advice, our emphasis is always on you and protecting your assets. How do we achieve and maintain that level of service? We do it through the prudent management of your resources and by working hard to grow those resources in a way that provides our member the best possible return on your equity. In the past years, we have expanded locations. This was done to meet your needs and better serve our members in the areas where they live. As our growth continues it will always be commensurate with meeting the needs of our existing and future members. A few of the more noteworthy highlights for 2018 include growing our assets to over $247 million, making $25.9 million in net new loans, as well as ending the year with a new worth ratio of 9.25. In 2018, UFCU accomplished and exceeded all financial goals by providing the best value to our membership and some of the lowest interest rates in the industry, and charging less fees than most banks and other credit unions. Total assets ended the year at $247.5 million at year-end, an increase of $20.6 million, or 9.1% from 2017. Likewise, member deposits increased $16.8 million to $219.7 million, or 8.3%. Loans of member deposits increased to $225.8 million in 2017, a solid increase of $25.9 million over the prior year, or 13.0%. This is largely attributable to the continued growth in real estate mortgages. As a result of our committed management and dedicated credit union employees the credit union’s 2018 net worth increased to $22,896,947 from $21,137,887 in 2017, an 8.3% increase with a strong 2018 year end net income of $1,760,258. During 2018 UFCU’s growing our membership family to 21,435 members, a 2.7% increase from prior year. 10

Report from the Supervisory Committee EVHEN LYLAK | CHAIR UFCU SUPERVISORY COMMITTEE
In April of 2018, the Ukrainian Federal Credit Union (UFCU) Board appointed its Supervisory Committee for the coming year.
The Board reappointed three regular past-committee members and two new members. Evhen Lylak was reappointed as Chair, while Barbara Gutierrez, Vasiliy Gritsuta, Rostislav Melnik and Olga Bilokin were added to comprise the full committee. The committee held its own separate meetings as noted in the committee minutes, and met with the Board throughout the year. The plan of work was completed and all communications and prescribed written reports were posted to the secure UFCU BASECAMP page to ensure that UFCU is in compliance with the Federal Credit Union Act, the rules and regulations of the NCUA, and UFCU’s own by-laws. The Supervisory Committee conducted a thorough and recurring set of audits throughout the past year that show the Credit Union currently is financially strong and well managed. The committee audit responsibilities included contracting with an Internal Auditor to establish an audit rotation of key areas and submitted reports on compliance requirements for the Credit Union. The results of the Bank Secrecy Act (BSA) audit and a number of other audits were reviewed as positive for both our internal and external network controls and information security. The SC continued the contract for Internal Auditor that was approved in December 2018. The continuing internal audit review process has provided management and the board with significant feedback about the policies and procedures in place to maintain our member security. A professional auditing firm -Bonadio & Co. LLP - that has served as an external auditor to review the Ukrainian Federal Credit Union financial statements for the year ending 2017 performed a separate review of UFCU’s financial statements. The Credit Union received an unqualified opinion statement from the external auditors in March 2018, and the committee was provided a statement that the yearly verification of member accounts had been performed. The recommendations of the yearly audit were formally submitted to UFCU management, and the SC followed up with management for responses to the recommendations stated in the audit. The results of that audit stated that the overall quality of the credit union’s financial reporting was presented fairly in all material respects and conformed to the accounting principles generally accepted (GAAP) in the United States of America.

The National Credit Union Administration (a federally sponsored regulatory organization) did not audit the Credit Union this past year based on the specific recommendations made by the NCUA in the 2017 audit. During the year, the Supervisory Committee worked with the Internal Auditor from Bonadio & Co. LLP and took responsibility for performing a number of required audits as prescribed by the NCUA. In addition to reviewing all the professional audits, the Supervisory Committee also conducted quarterly closed accounts reviews in conjunction with COO Dashkevich. The SC has maintained open lines of communication to resolve member concerns through a separate mailing address and a published member-contact, online address. The Supervisory Committed stands ready to aid in the resolution of any member inquiries that may arise during the 2019 calendar year. The Supervisory Committee again was able to fulfill the assigned fiduciary responsibilities in a timely fashion, and is giving its full support to the current Board and Management.

Report from the Community Relations Committee BOHDAN ZAKHARCHYSHYN & YAROSLAV FATYAK | COMMITTEE CO-CHAIRS
The Community Relations Committee adhered to all of the rules and criteria in 2018 that were set forth by the Board of Directors of our Credit Union. In 2018 we added a bright, new page to the history of the Ukrainian Federal Credit Union, a page highlighting 65 years of service to the community. Our Syracuse branch celebrated its 50th anniversary of financial service to the community.
In addition the Credit Union allocated funds from the marketing and advertising budget to the organizing and hosting of festivals and other cultural and artistic exhibits in the areas in which our branches operate.
Growth in membership and assets in the reporting year is a result of the successful teamwork of the Board of Directors and Management of the Credit Union.
The periodic publication of our financial institution’s <<Cooperative Opinion>> magazine continued and highlighted on the communal, cultural, and religious activities of our communities.
Advisory committees, which are comprised of members of various local community, cultural, and religious organizations, are set up where our branches operate. With the help of our advisory committees our Board of Directors and Management are better informed about the life and needs of our communities. Members of the advisory committees have access to a dedicated set of online resources of our Credit Union. Access to these online resources allows the advisory committee volunteers to be better informed about the Credit Union’s activities, and can more efficiently provide their comments and suggestions related to improving the work of each respective branch.
The tragic events in Ukraine associated with the occupation of territory and military conflict does not leave any Ukrainian in the diaspora indifferent. Numerous humanitarian actions led by civil and religious organizations occurred in order to assist victims in Ukraine. We sincerely thank all members of our Credit Union who organized and supported these vital efforts.
The Board of Directors and Management takes into account the proposals set forth by the Community Relations Committee while it makes the effort to meet with the various advisory committees. During the reporting year various meetings took place between members of the Board of Directors, Management, Advisory Committees, and members and representatives of organizations associated with our cooperative family. An important aspect within the work of the Credit Union is the constant financial support of local organizations, schools, and youth associations. During the reporting period each request for financial assistance from organizations and members of our Credit Union is carefully reviewed and submitted for a decision by the Board of Directors. The Board of Directors makes decisions pending input from the advisory committee at the respective branch.

Through its activities the Community Relations Committee worked closely and formed an understanding with the Board of Directors, Management, and the Credit Union staff. Particularly the committee thanks Chief Executive Officer, Oleg Lebedko. The committee sincerely thanks all volunteers, advisory committee members from all branches. Thank you to all members of the Credit Union for your faith in us. The Community Relations Committee has a goal to maintain the good reputation of the Credit Union and to attract new members, especially from the younger generation. Since its inception in 2010, the Ukrainian-American Community Foundation, Inc. donated over $213,000 to help support various community, cultural, humanitarian and educational initiatives. Over $105,000 was awarded in undergraduate and graduate scholarships. In 2018, undergraduate and graduate students received $18,250 in scholarships. In addition to Ukrainian FCU, other scholarship donors included Selfreliance Association of Rochester, Ukrainian Civic Center, the Diaczenko-Szostak family in memory of Wasyl and Anna Diaczenko, Rochester Ukrainian Group, Walter Denysenko, Wasyl and Anna Kornylo, Connie DiNicola and Ken Harzynski, owners of EZ Income Tax Service Acquisition, LLC.

Message from the Library Director WOLODYMYR PYLYSHENKO | LIBRARY DIRECTOR
Work in the library was unpredictable but interesting in 2018. As in previous years, the library was open every Saturday from 9 to 1. Volunteers also worked during other days and times as needed. All volunteers had various responsibilities, in particular Mr. Vasyl Zolotarchuk – assistant director, for 19 years has been publishing and accepting literature; Mrs. Irena Terletzky – assistant archivist of the Ukrainian community of Rochester and Monroe County, Mr. Volodymyr Lukomskyi – assistant and technician, and Mr. Wolodymyr Pylyshenko – professor, director of the library who manages the archives and history of the community. The library is the center of the Ukrainian television program, sponsored by the Irondequoit-Poltava Sister Cities organization. Next year we’ll be celebrating 20 years from the day of the first broadcast, which airs every Tuesday morning 8 – 9:30, every Saturday 10 – 11:30, every Sunday 2 – 3:30, so 4.5 hours of each week on HD Spectrum, cable 130 TV. This year Mrs. Natalia Oleksyn enriched the library archives with valuable historical materials with the help of her children Christina and Ihor. As some may know, the late Ivan Oleksyn was one of the founders, employees, and members of the Board of Directors of our Credit Union. The world will remember Mr. Oleksyn as the President of the Ukrainian Fraternal Association, a true patriot, and a modest man for his goodwill towards Chernobyl victims. The second unexpected event was the receipt of 12 packs of manuscripts and letters from the well-known figure James D. Bratush. He left us with a very interesting history about the Ukrainian community of Rochester in English (“A Historical Documentary of the Ukrainian Community of Rochester, NY”, c1973). This book is often used by middle and high school students to learn about their ancestral roots. James Sydor, grandson of James Bratush and Chairman of Sydor Optics, donated his grandfather’s written works to the library.

The most significant event occurred in April when the Mayor of Dnipro Borys Filatov and members of his cabinet visited Rochester. As a result of the visit, the family library of Professor Wolodymyr Pylyshenko donated 80 boxes of Ukrainian books, magazines, and other printed material, as well as 10 boxes from the library of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church in Bound Brook. Tamara Denysenko, President of the Ukrainian-American Community Foundation, Inc. in 2018, took the initiative to organize a conference during which Mr. Filatov was able to meet with community members. Special thanks to Mr. Yaroslav Kirik. We’re grateful to Natalia Babiuk, Eugene Sydor, Larissa Charambura, Myron Babiuk, Tamara Denysenko, and to the late Maria Syplywyj for their donation of books and other gifts to the library. The library staff and its visitors are proud of incredible achievements on the statewide level, and also on the national and international levels: •W asyl Kornylo, Ukrainian Federal Credit Union President and Chairman of the Board, past Chairman of Ukrainian National Credit Union Association (UNCUA), accepted a World Council of Credit Unions Distinguished Service Award on behalf of UNCUA at the World Credit Union Conference in July 2017. •W asyl Kornylo was selected and honored as “Volunteer of the Year” by the National Association of Federally-Insured Credit Unions (NAFCU) in June 2018 in Seattle, Washington.

2018 Annual Membership Meeting Minutes Mr. Wasyl Kornylo motioned to begin the Annual Meeting a few minutes prior to 2:30pm ET. No objections. Mr. Kornylo welcomed everyone to the 65th annual member meeting for the Ukrainian Federal Credit Union (UFCU). The agenda for the meeting is published on the inside cover of the 2017 Annual Report – the credit union’s member magazine. Mr. Kornylo motioned to proceed with the agenda in the order published in the Annual Report. Motion passed. Moment of silence is held to memorialize members who passed away in the recent year as well as those who passed as a result of the war in Ukraine. Mr. Kornylo took a moment to recognize the credit union’s 65th anniversary and the pioneers who had the dream to establish UFCU. He pointed out the average cost of a house, a gallon of gas, an hour’s wage, and he highlighted the importance of volunteerism. Volunteers took it upon themselves to organize, administer, structure, and deliver the services that credit unions are known for today. He wished the credit union a happy anniversary, which was met with applause. Motion to accept the minutes from the prior year’s annual meeting is accepted as printed. Mr. Kornylo began by stating that the credit union had an impressive and successful year and delivered on its strategic plan, and remains audit compliant to safe guard member’s assets and reputation. He gave credit to the employees and volunteers for their service to the credit union, and he thanked all those involved with the credit union for their loyalty and hard work. Mr. Kornylo highlighted the humanitarian effort by Anytchka, a Ukrainian singer from Lviv, who toured the U.S. (including cities with UFCU branches) in recent years to fund raise for injured Ukrainian soldiers, and George Mendeluk, a movie producer and UFCU member, who wrote and directed the 2017 film Bitter Harvest. Mr. Kornylo went on to emphasize the strong bonds that the credit union has with various religious, Ukrainian, and Slavic community organizations as well as other non-profits. Mr. Kornylo defined what a credit union is and how UFCU fits into the larger framework of the Ukrainian National Credit Union Association (UNCUA) and then within the even larger realm of the World Council of Credit Unions (WOCCU). In July 2017 Mr. Kornylo accepted the WOCCU Distinguished Service Award on behalf of UNCUA. Mr. Kornylo introduced Oleg Lebedko, CEO. Mr. Lebedko reminded everyone that his report, like Mr. Kornylo’s, is published in the Annual Report. He offered to provide highlights. Mr. Lebedko began by recognizing that the credit union was founded sixty-five years ago by volunteers who came to the U.S. as immigrants unfamiliar with the financial system, without the knowledge of how to borrow money, or how to save money they earned. Sixty-five years later our mission remains the same, to serve the members of our community, whether they’re newly emigrated to the U.S. or have been in the U.S. and are part of the Ukrainian community. Mr. Lebedko briefly touched on the continued growth in assets, deposits, and loans, and moved onto changes completed in 2017 to enhance overall customer service. Primary 2017 achievements include a new website, upgraded phone system, enrollment into CO-OP 20
Shared Branching, and enhanced online and mobile banking services. Mr. Lebedko highlighted on the benefits of CO-OP Shared Branching including convenience and accessibility as compared to larger banks. Mr. Lebedko went on to recognize all of the representatives from each UFCU branch across the U.S., who not only were able to come together for the Annual Meeting but also participated in the American Heart Association walk the day before. Mr. Lebedko noted that we are a community institution and do more than just provide financial services. In closing he thanked all of the members and employees. Mr. Kornylo returned to the podium, thanked UFCU management and board for their leadership, and also gave credit to the church parish for hosting and providing lunch for everyone. Mr. Kornylo then invited the Treasurer, Barbara Tymoc-Gutierrez, to the podium. Mrs. Tymoc-Gutierrez reiterated the Report from the Treasurer as published on pages 8-9 in the 2017 Annual Report. In summary at year end 2017 net worth of UFCU stood at 9.32% of total assets and earned the distinction of “well capitalized”. She thanked the Board of Directors, the Committees, and the entire Credit Union staff for making 2017 a rewarding and successful year. Mr. Kornylo returned to the podium, thanked Barbara and commented that it’s good to hear that the credit union is on the right track. He then invited the co-chairs of the Community Relations Committee, Bohdan Zakharchyshyn and Yaroslav Fatyak, to the podium. Mr. Zakharchyshyn began by recognizing the delegation from Dnipro, Ukraine. He pointed out that the Community Relations Report is published on pages 12 and 13 in the Annual Report. Mr. Zakharchyshyn introduced Mr. Ihor Levkiv and Mr. Ihor Ambroziak, advisory committee members for UFCU Portland & Vancouver branches, as well as Mr. Yuri Darmograi, advisory committee member for UFCU Buffalo & Amherst branches. Mr. Zakharchyshyn emphasized the important work of all UFCU volunteers, those who give of their time to participate in various committees, and are an extension of the credit union in the community. He added that it’s vital to work with youth organizations as they are our future. The Community Relations Committee reviews all sponsorship requests from common bond organizations as well as other organizations, who may request financial support for one reason or another. Mr. Zakharchyshyn pointed out that the credit union reinvests into the communities it serves. He concluded by thanking the Management of the Credit Union and its staff. Mr. Kornylo returned to the podium and thanked the Community Relations Committee for its presentation. Mr. Kornylo continued by giving special recognition to several volunteers who gave of their time
to the library including Wolodymyr Pylyshenko – director, archivist, historian, Irena Terletzky – assistant, Volodymyr Lukomskyi – assistant, and Vasyl Zolotarchuk – deputy director. Mr. Kornylo then introduced Dr. Evhen Lylak, chair of the Supervisory Committee. Dr. Evhen Lylak welcomed everyone to the meeting and pointed out that his report is published on pages 10 and 11 in the Annual Report. Dr. Lylak gave special recognition to the committee’s newest and youngest members, Olga Bilokin and Rostislav Melnik. Dr. Lylak went on to briefly explain the role of the Supervisory Committee, which conducts a set of audits throughout the year and helps resolve member inquiries that may arise. Dr. Lylak confirmed that the audits were successful. UFCU is financially strong and well managed. Dr. Lylak is also the chair of the Nominating Committee, and he pointed out that three members of the Board of Directors were confirmed to new terms: Yaroslav Fatyak, Yaroslav Kirik, and Richard Harris. Mr. Kornylo thanked Dr. Lylak and invited Mrs. Tamara Denysenko to present on behalf of the Ukrainian-American Community Foundation. Mrs. Denysenko thanked Mr. Kornylo and everyone for attending the Annual Meeting. She provided a brief history of the Ukrainian-American Community Foundation, which was established in 2010 to function as a donation mechanism for the credit union. In the same breath Mrs. Denysenko encouraged past and current scholarship winners to consider a career at UFCU. The Foundation has distributed over $173,000 since 2010. Two years prior the Foundation established a scholarship program for graduate studies. Mrs. Denysenko went on to thank UFCU for its annual support of the Foundation and highlighted on the fact that the Foundation also relies on the goodwill of the community. Various named and in-memoriam scholarships have been made possible by generous donations,
such as the Diaczenko Family Memorial Scholarship, EZ Income Tax – Kornylo Scholarship, Ukrainian Civic Center Scholarship, Roman Kucil Memorial Scholarship, Rochester Ukrainian Group Centennial Graduate Scholarship, and the Paul and Lorraine Harris Memorial Graduate Scholarship. Mrs. Denysenko gave special recognition to Dr. Christine Hoshowsky who donated $4,000 to the graduate scholarship program. Mrs. Denysenko went on to acknowledge Professor Pylyshenko, who started the first scholarship program in the 1970s so that students may learn about Ukraine at Harvard.

Mrs. Denysenko invited the entire Scholarship Committee to the front of the room to help distribute and congratulate the winners of the various undergraduate scholarship awards. Named scholarship awards are announced first followed by UFCU scholarship award winners. Scholarship committee members, scholarship winners, members of Samopomich, family members associated with the named scholarships, and UFCU Board & Management are invited for a group photo.
