15-Minute Team Well-Being Pulse Check

Purpose

This brief activity can be used in team meetings or huddles. It gives teams a chance to reflect on well-being, energy, connection, and recovery. These conversations support a healthy work experience and help promote balance between work and personal life.

Minute 1: Introduction

Let’s take a moment to check in on how we are doing today. This is a supportive space to notice our well-being and encourage one another.

Minutes 2-4: Quiet Personal Reflection

Invite team members to write a short response to one or more prompts:

• What does a balanced day or week feel like for you?

• What helps you unwind or reset after a demanding shift?

• What has been using the most energy for you lately?

• On a scale of 1–10, how do you rate your well-being? (10 = the best)

Minutes 5-7: Small Group Share

In pairs or small groups, discuss one or more prompts:

• What helps you feel supported during a difficult moment?

• What helps you pause and reset when the day is busy?

• What is one positive moment from your week?

Minutes 8–14: Team Reflection

As a team, choose one or more of these prompts to discuss. Support Systems

• Who can you lean on when work feels stressful? Examples: Teammates, family members, mentors, friends.

• What helps you feel connected to the team?

• What support from your workplace or team helps you maintain balance? Examples: Helpful communication, supportive leadership, access to support services such UI EAP

Wellness

• What small activities help you recover physically and emotionally during or after work? Examples: Walking, stretching, reading, hobbies, quiet time, connecting with loved ones.

• How often do you want to engage in these activities?

Boundaries

• What boundaries support your well-being during and after shifts? Examples: Limiting after-hours messages, not checking work systems on days off, setting screen-time limits.

• What personal commitments or activities are important for you to protect? Examples: Family events, exercise classes, faith practices, hobbies.

Time Management

• What strategies help you stay organized during busy or unpredictable days? Examples: Planning top priorities for each shift, using checklists, using structured handoffs, setting aside time for documentation.

• Which strategies work well for you, and why?

As a team, decide how you want to support balance, recovery, and connecting moving forward.

Minute 15: Small Steps

Invite team members to choose one small step to support balance and recovery.

• What small step do you want to take?

Examples: More rest between shifts, consistent exercise, more quality time with family or friends, clearer boundaries with after-hours communication.

• What actions can help you take this step?

Examples: Scheduling personal time, setting reminders for breaks, planning recovery time after long shifts.
