UIS Reaches Stellar Through Largest Fundraising Campaign in Campus History Philanthropy is about providing opportunities. When you combine the two— philanthropy and University of Illinois Springfield—limitless opportunities are created. That’s what happened during the Reaching Stellar campaign, the largest fundraising effort in the University’s history. The campaign concluded in June raising $42,486,248 for five priority areas: Scholarships, Academic Excellence, the Center for Lincoln Studies, “The Public Good,” and Facilities & Technology. UIS is grateful for the many alumni and friends who see the value of giving. We received more than 125,000 gifts from nearly 18,000 donors. More than $8 million has been raised for more than 70 new scholarship funds that have already helped close to 300 additional students.

These gifts are transforming this University. The Student Union has become the heart of campus since the moment it opened. The Center for Lincoln Studies is already a national base for scholarship, teaching, and public history about Abraham Lincoln. Sangamon Experience highlights the rich history of the Sangamon Region of central Illinois. The more than $13.5 million given to our “Public Good” areas—like the Illinois Innocence Project, NPR Illinois, and UIS Performing Arts Services—mean that the service to others that is the cornerstone of UIS’ identity will continue to flourish. An important piece of this effort is the impact that comes from the thoughtful planning of our donors who have made a deferred gift commitment to support the future of UIS. THANK YOU! Jeff Lorber, Ed.D., is the Vice Chancellor for Advancement at the University of Illinois Springfield and Senior Vice President for the University of Illinois Foundation.
