Resume Peer Encouragement & Feedback Imagine you are on a search committee for a position and have a stack of resumes to go through. Let the following questions guide you through how to read though the resume.  What seems to be the most important information that stands out in the first 10 seconds of scanning the document? ____________________________________________________________________________________ ____________________________________________________________________________________  What is your general first impression? Excited to read more? Feeling overwhelmed/underwhelmed at all? ____________________________________________________________________________________ ____________________________________________________________________________________  Is it easy to scan the document and know where to find the information you need? What is something that could use improvement? ____________________________________________________________________________________ ____________________________________________________________________________________  Are there any standout experiences or information that you feel should be highlighted on the resume better? ____________________________________________________________________________________ ____________________________________________________________________________________  Is there anything that seems outdated or not relevant? (For example: Graduated high school 3 years ago but is still listed on the education section). ____________________________________________________________________________________ ____________________________________________________________________________________  Is there anything that may be missing from the resume that would help you get to know this person better? (Feel free to ask your peer if they may have left anything out). ____________________________________________________________________________________ ____________________________________________________________________________________  Get your peer’s input. How do they feel about their resume? Did they find your input helpful?
