MEET 2019 MHA ALUMNUS Sarah received her Master of Healthcare Administration (MHA) in Health Policy and Administration (HPA) in 2019. She transitioned from the MHA program into an administrative fellowship with Kaiser Permanente based in Portland, Oregon where she then continued to work for three years, before returning to Chicago. She is now a Senior Manager at Northwestern Medicine.

*We offer a two-year full time and a part time schedule with three and four year completion options. Classes are held primarily in the early evening to accommodate our preceptorship program and part time students.
PROGRAM ELEMENTS
PRECEPTORSHIP The intent of the MHA Preceptorship Program is to provide the student with the opportunity to apply the didactic knowledge gained in the classroom within the context of a health care delivery organization under the guidance and direction of successful health care executives. The MHA Preceptorship is a critical component of the practitioner-educator model and an essential element in establishing the student’s management skill set.
MHA ADMINSTRATIVE FELLOWSHIPS In 2020, the MHA program offered a Fellowship Support Program for current students. This program offered students assistance over the summer with their applications to administrative fellowships for the upcoming year. Nearly 80 percent of students who participated this year have received and accepted offers to fellowship programs.

The UIC MHA program's Fellowship Support Program is offered to current students through assistance in their applications to administrative fellowships for the upcoming year. Nearly 80 percent of students who participate receive and accept offers to Local and national Administrative Fellowship Programs. Our 2021-22 class of administrative fellows will engage at NorthShore University Health System, UI Health, Emory Healthcare, Hospital Sisters Health System, Vizient and Community Health Centers, Inc.

Get to know our MHA leadership The MHA program is proud to welcome Karen C. Teitelbaum, president and CEO of Sinai Health System, as the inaugural Executive in Residence with the School’s Master of Healthcare Administration (MHA) program in the division of health policy and administration.

The Executive in Residence is a senior healthcare leader with a distinguished career of leading transformational change in the healthcare industry. They are uniquely positioned within the healthcare administration program to foster professional relationships with key external stakeholders, serve as a practitioner resource to faculty in their healthcare research efforts, and contribute to students’ career development. This role is also designed to ensure that the MHA course curriculum addresses relevant trends and issues and prepares students to enter the healthcare industry as future leaders.
