Dear Students, Welcome to the University of Houston-Downtown! As the Dean of Students, it is my pleasure to extend a warm welcome to both our new and returning students. Our university is a place where academic excellence, personal growth, and community engagement intersect, creating a vibrant and dynamic environment for learning and development. This Student Handbook has been designed to provide you with essential information about the university’s policies, procedures, and resources that will support you throughout your academic journey. Your time at UHD will be filled with opportunities to explore new ideas, develop your skills, and build lasting relationships. We are committed to fostering an inclusive and supportive campus community where every student feels valued and empowered to succeed. The resources and services outlined in this handbook, including academic advising, counseling, career services, and student organizations, are here to help you navigate your college experience and achieve your personal and professional goals. Academic integrity and personal responsibility are cornerstones of our community values. It is important that you familiarize yourself with the university’s Code of Conduct, which outlines our expectations for student behavior both in and out of the classroom. Upholding these standards is crucial in maintaining the trust and respect that are fundamental to our educational mission. This handbook also guides how to report concerns or seek assistance if you encounter any challenges.
