During his collegiate study, he was awarded various scholarships and grants, the Stotler fellowship from his master’s program, and the Helen Webester award for an outstanding graduate student, from his professional study at CIM. He made his professional chorus debut with the Pittsburgh Opera (The Summer King) and made his solo debut singing as a soloist for the Messiah with the Baroque Artists of Champaign Urbana (BACH) in 2021. He most recently was a semi finalist in the Opera Ebony Competition in 2023, and also, attended Jennifer Rowley’s Aria Bootcamp in 2024, in further preparation for his beginnings as a young artist.

Daniel Johnson is a third-year bassoon performance and music theory major from Acworth, Georgia currently studying with Dr. Amy Pollard. He has performed with multiple ensembles, including the University of Georgia Symphony Orchestra, Wind Ensemble, Redcoat Band, and University Choir. Outside of the university, he has worked with public schools in Cobb County as a clinician, and has freelanced in Milledgeville, GA and Anderson, SC. He also enjoys playing in chamber music, and is currently a member of a wind quintet as well as the UGA Recorder Consort. In his free time, Daniel enjoys playing video games, reading, and drawing.
