UNIVERSITY OF GEORGIA BRITISH BRASS BAND SPRING CONCERT
The British Brass Band has become an Athens fan favorite. The repertoire encompasses a wide variety of styles including excellent original works, marvelous transcriptions of orchestral works, as well as marches and other light pieces. British Brass Band is conducted by Gilbert Villagrana.
UNIVERSITY OF GEORGIA OPERA THEATRE: MANSFIELD PARK
If you weren’t able get tickets for “Mansfield Park” at the Botanical Garden, you are invited for an encore performance Sunday, April 12 at 3 p.m. outside the UGA Performing Arts Center on the East Campus Arts Quad.
(In case of inclement weather, this free performance has a rain date of April 14 at 7:30 p.m. in Ramsey Hall.)
UNIVERSITY OF GEORGIA CHINESE MUSIC ENSEMBLE SPRING CONCERT
Under the direction of Vicki Lu, several distinguished guest artists often join this fan favorite ensemble which features instruments such as the erhu, guzheng, pipa, hulusi, and the yangqin. Typically following the concert, the audience is invited on stage to explore the instruments.
UNIVERSITY OF GEORGIA HODGSON STRING QUARTET
Formed in spring 2009, the quartet serves as a representative, ambassadorial ensemble for the school of music, reflecting the quality of its student and faculty performers. The intent of the quartet is to provide a featured performing ensemble for music students at UGA, in service of honoring the legacy of Hugh Hodgson.
