HARNESSING BIOMEDICAL ENGINEERING TO TRANSFORM IMMUNITY AND COMBAT DIVERSE DISEASES UF biomedical engineers are developing innovative approaches to tackle a wide range of diseases, including diabetes, osteoarthritis, cancer, HIV, periodontal disease, bacterial vaginosis, and psoriasis. Despite the diversity in their methods, their research is united by a common goal: employing engineering principles to decode and harness the immune system’s potential in discovering new therapies.
