ThankyouforsuchasuccessfulRecruitmentWeekandforattendingourfirstGBM!OnAugust25 we kicked off the week with our “Paint & Sip Social,” in which members lined up to enjoy mocktails and paint canvases to their heart’s desire The following day, we hosted our fundraiser “UF uAMWA in Full Bloom: The Flower Bar,” in which new members flocked to our event to create their own beautiful bouquets Then,onWednesday,wehostedour“Pre-Health101Workshop,”duringwhichourOutreach Director and Academic Chair collaborated to present a panel of medical students and undergraduate uAMWA executive members to share their tips for success as a woman on the pre-health track Then, we closed off our week with our “Women in Pre-Health Mixer,” which allowed members to mingle while relaxing in our local coffee shop This week, we held our first GBM of the semester, which, to our pleasant surprise, welcomed 103 members! What is AMWA?
American Medical Women’s Association is a national organization that focuses on women in healthcare from premeds to attending physicians
What is UF uAMWA?
UF uAMWA is University of Florida’s undergraduate chapter of the national organization Although we partner with them on some events, we have our own events here in person at least twice a month!
How do I get involved?
You can get involved by simply attending events. Applications are not required to come to events; however, membership is granted based on your attendance and involvement for the semester It is important to keep in mind that you need to be an active member in order to run for the uAMWA executive board
How do I stay an active member?
In order to maintain your status as a UF uAMWA active member, you must get 2 points from each section: Attendance, Events, and Awareness This means by the end of the semester, you should have at least 6 points total! See the points system recap below
