uAMWA OCTOBER NEWSLETTER UNIVERSITY OF FLORIDA
Dear uAMWA members,
Thank you for another great month of events! We really appreciate your participation in our club. Also, a special thanks to the hard work of our amazing event-planning executive members. A shout-out to our Academic Chair, Shreya, for being so consistent and hosting her study hours every week. Also, congratulations to Cova, our Fundraising Chair, for hosting her successful Snap & Smile event. A special thanks to Abigail, our Outreach Director, for hosting the highly informative “Gaining
Clinical Experiences with Gator CNA” presentation. We cannot forget to thank our Membership Enrichment Director, Olivia, for planning the fun-filled night of trivia at Backyard. Last but not least, we must recognize our Service Director, Eve, for her hard work in preparing for the two service socials this month: DIY Fidget Toys and the Crafting Care Collab. What is AMWA?
American Medical Women’s Association is a national organization that focuses on women in healthcare from premeds to attending physicians
What is UF uAMWA?
UF uAMWA is University of Florida’s undergraduate chapter of the national organization. Although we partner with them on some events, we have our own events here in person at least twice a month!
How do I get involved?
You can get involved by simply attending events. Applications are not required to come to events; however, membership is granted based on your attendance and involvement for the semester. It is important to keep in mind that you need to be an active member in order to run for the uAMWA executive board.
How do I stay an active member?
In order to maintain your status as a UF uAMWA active member, you must get 2 points from each section: Attendance, Events, and Awareness. This means by the end of the semester, you should have at least 6 points total! See the points system recap below.
October 9th
Hot Girl Walk
Location: Lake Alice Time: 6-7 PM
Description:
Join us on a hot girl walk around Lake Alice!
Meeting Point: UF Bat Houses
October 12th
Location: Bo Diddley Plaza Time: 2-5 PM
Description: Peaceful Paths is a center in Gainesville that supports survivors of domestic violence. After the program and short walk, there will be food trucks and music.
October 13th
Big/Little Reveal
Location: Plaza of the Americas Time: 6–7 PM
Description:
Members who applied to be Bigs or Littles will get to meet their counterpart and hang out!
Dinner on University afterwards!
October 13 & 22 th nd
Study hours will occur every week for uAMWA members to study together, share advice, and support each other. Please sign up on this spreadsheet to reserve your spot.
