uAMWA NOVEMBER NEWSLETTER

UNIVERSITY OF FLORIDA

November 2, 2025

Dear uAMWA members,

Thank you for another great month of successful events! We started strong on October 1 with a Health Education and Access Awareness at a Local Scale with UF Mobile Outreach Clinic hosted by our amazing Outreach Director, Abigail. We also had two fun-filled socials this October planned by our Membership Enrichment Director, Olivia: a Hot Girl Walk and Pumpkin Painting! This past month we also hosted the long-awaited Big-Little Reveal! It was so fun finally getting to meet our Bigs/Littles and then going to Cane’s with them.

Speaking of reveals, Shreya, our Academic Chair, also creatively planned our first Study Buddy Reveal, during which our members got to meet their Study Buddy at the end of a thrilling scavenger hunt! We also must recognize Eve’s continued success in planning two service events this month: the Strength in Strides Walk and a park clean-up. Finally, we applaud Cova, our Fundraising Chair, for hosting a very successful and tasty fundraiser at Jeremiah’s Italian Ice. To another great month!

What is AMWA?

American Medical Women’s Association is a national organization that focuses on women in healthcare from premeds to attending physicians

What is UF uAMWA?

UF uAMWA is University of Florida’s undergraduate chapter of the national organization. Although we partner with them on some events, we have our own events here in person at least twice a month!

How do I get involved?

You can get involved by simply attending events. Applications are not required to come to events; however, membership is granted based on your attendance and involvement for the semester. It is important to keep in mind that you need to be an active member in order to run for the uAMWA executive board.

How do I stay an active member?

In order to maintain your status as a UF uAMWA active member, you must get 2 points from each section: Attendance, Events, and Awareness. This means by the end of the semester, you should have at least 6 points total! See the points system recap below.

Flex Points

Since it is nearing the end of the semester, you can receive a flex point in the category of your choice through one of these three options: submitting a blog post, bringing a donation for our Peaceful Paths November Drive, or buying an entry for the finals fuel raffle.
