JUNE HAS ALWAYS BEEN ONE OF THE BEST TIMES OF THE YEAR TO BUY A CAR. As a dealership, it’s our busiest and most exciting month. Our car manufacturers come out with their best offers to make their brands as enticing as possible, our banks and lenders come out with special interest rate offers, and ultimately, you as our loyal Tynan Motors customer know this is the best time to get great deals. Furthermore, this June in particular, presents 3 unique reasons that make buying a car even more attractive than it has been from many previous years. 1. Global car sales are currently very sluggish, and the Australian new car sales market is down 8% from this time last year. Our manufacturers are overstocked and are greatly motivated to end their reporting season by moving as much stock as possible Extra discounts are usually available on models that are proportionately overstocked. You can take advantage of this if you are more flexible with your car specification preferences such as different colours or cars that have already been built with some extra factory options. Buying a demonstrator is also a great way to save money. Most of our demonstrators are virtually brand new cars (some haven’t even been driven) that have been registered as display stock to meet our model display ratio- requirements. Superseded models can also represent great value. Manufacturers need to clear these models to make room for new production runs, and for customers who will keep their car for longer than the typical average of 3 years. The savings from last year’s model can easily outweigh the comparatively lower trade-in value down the track. Most newer cars now come with warranty terms of at least 5 years, so the potential unexpected repair expenses in the latter years of a car’s life are not as concerning. 2. With historic low interest rates, buying a car has never been more affordable. We hear this all the time because it continues to be truer and truer. In June, official interest rates were set at new record lows, and with all major mortgage lenders passing on the interest cut announced by the Reserve Bank, home buyers will have more direct comfort with their living expenses. More broadly, this rate cut appears to be just one of several quantitative easing approaches the RBA will adopt, and with our newly elected government committed to policies that will stimulate our economy, including income tax cuts for most, we can all take comfort that better economic times are ahead of us. Our dealership is aligned with several in-house finance providers and major banks, each of whom are offering different interest rate deals or other car loan specials. Having access to a large panel of lenders not only allows us to maximise your finance approval outcomes, but also allows us to properly shop the best deals available on the Australian market for you. We also have professionally accredited finance staff working 7 days a week alongside our sales people for further convenience. New lending laws are now in effect to ensure the interest rate charged on loans are all objectively set by lenders (not car dealerships), so this means when the cost of car finance does differ from loan to loan, it is because each loan rate is now based on different customer risk profiles and credit scores. Rates should no longer differ whether finance is obtained from a bank directly, a broker or the most popular method of car finance – in-house at the dealership If you are a more budget-cautious customer then buying a new car now is not as irresponsible today as it may have been deemed a few months ago. 3. Small Businesses are also big winners this month. Vehicles purchased predominately for business purposes can be instantly written off at tax time to the value of $30,000. Naturally, businesses can combine this new asset write down allowance with the usual business tax expense claims such as GST, depreciation, loan interest, leasing payments, and all other ongoing running expenses. In our dealerships, we’ve seen solid increases recently in cars purchased for business purposes, and we anticipate this will spike this month as savvy business owners take advantage of the write off allowance and low borrowing costs.
