The TJC brand is the centerpiece of our visual identity. Brand integrity means making sure every message we put forth — both internal and external — aligns with our brand experience and values.
Branding extends beyond the visual, affecting how TJC is perceived by all our audiences: potential and current students, alumni, employees, and the community.
Marketing efforts and communications should feature consistent themes and facts that stand for our institution’s mission, vision, and values. It is important to express ourselves in a professional manner and our Brand & Identity Standards help ensure the consistency of the visual identity of our institution.
Each of us is a steward of the TJC brand. By understanding our brand personality and consistently adhering to the Brand & Identity Standards — as well as the way we communicate — we strengthen our brand positioning.
Our brand is associated with our name, logo, distinctive colors, and design elements that appear with them.
To maintain TJC’s institutional identity and brand consistency, final approval for all publicly visible marketing, promotional, graphic, digital, and web materials that represent or identify Tyler Junior College (TJC) rests solely with the TJC Marketing Department.
This includes materials produced internally or externally by or on behalf of any TJC school, department, program, office, organization, event, or service, regardless of medium, including printed materials, apparel, signage, displays, websites, social media graphics, presentations, videos, digital communications, and promotional items. Instructional materials created by faculty exclusively for students enrolled in their courses are excepted.
Feedback and collaboration throughout the creative process are welcome. Final decisions regarding design, branding, and presentation remain the responsibility of the TJC Marketing Department.
Our Vision:
Educating everyone — the path to a better world.
Our Mission:
The College champions student and community success by providing a caring, comprehensive experience through educational excellence, stellar service, innovative programming, and authentic partnerships.
TJC’s core values guide the direction of the College and the decisions made on a daily basis. Unity: Coming together for a shared purpose to achieve a common goal
Caring: Combining empathy and action to show a generosity of spirit
Integrity: Applying principles of transparency, accountability, authenticity, and respect to every interaction
Empowering: Investing in others by providing the means to achieve success through development and self-actualization
Excellence: Achieving distinction by proactively identifying opportunities and continually raising the bar
This manual has been prepared to safeguard the integrity of the TJC brand and visual identity through the consistent use of its logos, type fonts, and color palette. Please read this manual and adhere to the guidelines. Included are specific illustrations, diagrams, and examples of the correct and approved ways to use all institutional logos and word marks.
Low-resolution logos are available for download to employees at TJC.edu/MarketingDownloads or upon request. For further information, please contact TJC Marketing at 903-510-3163.
TJC licenses the use of its logos through CLC Learfield | IMG College. Only licensed vendors are allowed to reproduce the TJC logos. Vendors producing TJC products should obtain logos from our licensing partner, CLC Learfield | IMG College.
All TJC logos and wordmarks consist of specific colors selected from the Pantone Matching System (PMS).
The official colors for all TJC logos or marks are “TJC Black” (PMS Process Black) and “TJC Gold” (PMS 116).
PMS: PROCESS
CMYK: 60.40.40.100 RGB: 0.0.0
231F20
PMS: 116
CMYK: 0.15.94.0
RGB: 255.205.0 HEX: FFCD00
When reproducing the logo in four-color process (CMYK), three-color process (RGB), or for the web (HEX) the formulas shown at left should be used to best match “TJC Black” and “TJC Gold.”
NOTE: The Harry the Hawk Mascot logo has additional colors defined on page 29.
TJC logos and wordmarks are made with customized graphics and type. The College requires that high-resolution digital files or camera-ready art be used for all forms of reproduction. Any attempt to recreate the art, type, or spacing and styling of a logo could result in inconsistencies in reproduction, which would compromise the integrity of the logo.
Individual campus entities or departments MAY NOT design their own logos, wordmarks, signatures, or print pieces outside of the parameters provided in the TJC Brand & Identity Standards.
Adhering to the following color reproduction guidelines will create a consistent image and maintain the visual impact of the TJC logos.
• When printing over a white, gold or light background, the logo may be reproduced only in full color or black,
• When appearing on a black background, the logo appears reversed out in white or “TJC Gold (PMS 116).” Otherwise, the two-color logo must be used.
• Overprints should be on recognizable TJC colors and not on competitor schools’ colors.
Adhering to the following color reproduction guidelines will create a consistent image and maintain the visual impact of the TJC logos.
• When appearing on a white, gold or medium-to-light-gray background, the single-color logo must be printed in black.
• When appearing on a black or charcoal/dark-gray background, the single-color logo must be printed in white.

During our centennial anniversary, a separate and celebratory logo has been created. This is a two-color logo.
Acceptable colors for printing are “TJC Black” (PMS Process Black) and “TJC Gold” (PMS 116). CMYK conversion, RGB conversion, and black and white in a reversed application. This logo is to be used in a stand-alone state only.

The TJC Centennial logo is comprised of customized graphics and type. The College requires that digital files or cameraready art be used for all forms of reproduction. Any attempt to recreate the art, type, or spacing and styling of the logo could result in inconsistencies in reproduction, which would compromise the integrity of the logo.
Safe zones are established to maintain the logo’s integrity and to avoid visual confusion. No other type or graphic element (including folds, trims, or edges) should fall within the safe zone shown.

During our centennial anniversary, any TJC Centennial logo should be produced on a black, gold, grey, or white material.
If the reproduction process of the centennial logo requires simpler elements, these versions of the centennial logo are also available.
These logos are to be used in a stand-alone state only and the safezone must be respected.

NO BANNER, TOWER OR DATE

To ensure visual consistency and promote recognition, the TJC Centennial logo must not be altered in any way. Below are examples of some, but not all, incorrect usages of the logos. Logo proportions are not to be adjusted. No increase of width or height should be made to fit spacing needs.

Many colleges and universities use their initials as their visual identifier and TJC is no exception. The name should appear as “TJC” on all college publications, marketing endeavors, pieces, and collateral as well as communications. “Tyler Junior College (TJC)” may be spelled out elsewhere if further clarification is needed.
For state and federal reporting purposes, “Tyler Junior College” may be used followed by parenthetical “TJC.” E.g., “Tyler Junior College (TJC).”
All TJC logos and wordmarks are created with specific colors selected from the Pantone Matching System (PMS).
The official colors for all TJC logos or marks are “TJC Black” (PMS Process Black) and “TJC Gold” (PMS 116).

The TJC Institutional Logo is the primary visual identity mark of the institution and is to be used on all stationery, merchandise, printed publications, and digital applications intended for on- or off-campus use.
The logo always contains both the wordmark and the icon; but in certain approved applications, the icon may be used independently from the wordmark.
This logo is to be used in a stand-alone state only and may not be used with any other design elements.
The recommended minimum reproduction size of the TJC logo is 1.5’’ in width. Reducing the logos further would compromise legibility and the integrity of the logo reproduction.
If the reproduction of the TJC logo is smaller than 1.5”, then the TJC Wordmark should be used.
The TJC Institutional Wordmark is the secondary visual identity mark of the institution and can be used on all merchandise, printed publications, and digital application intended for on- or off-campus use.
The Institutional Wordmark must be used if “TJC” is used in a design.
The TJC Institutional Wordmark has a safe zone intended to maintain the logo’s integrity and to avoid visual confusion. No other type or graphic element (including folds, trims, or edges) should fall within the safe zone shown.
When the TJC Institutional Wordmark is incorporated into a design, its placement must respect the safe zone defined as being — on all sides — to the “height of the leg in the letter T.”
The TJC visual identity system introduced in the summer of 2016 is the official identity system for the College. Older designs that were created by or commissioned by TJC have been withdrawn from circulation. The outdated logos at right are not to be reproduced on any publications or literature. On websites, replacement of outdated logos should be part of any planned update or redesign.
Any existing logo for any groups, organizations, or departments that incorporates any part of an outdated logo must be redesigned by TJC Marketing and the new logo used in its place.

The TJC logo is the approved logo for all College programs, departments, and locations, with the exception of the College seal and the institutional athletic logo.
TJC Marketing must approve all logo use and supply the digital logo files.
There are a handful of organizations at TJC with an approved icon for marketing and/or uniform use. Groups may not use icons that have not been approved by TJC Marketing.
Approval and artwork must be obtained through TJC Marketing. Approved organizational icons are shown below.

The business card formats below are to be used by all campus personnel. Individual campus entities, locations, schools, departments, or personnel MAY NOT design their own business cards.
