We are now halfway through 2026, and our campaign is well and truly in full swing.
Across the country, negotiations are reaching a critical point Employers are approaching a crossroads:
they can come to the bargaining table ready to negotiate fairly with their workforce, or they risk facing coordinated industrial action and nationwide protests across every state and territory
Our members have made it clear that they expect employers to negotiate in good faith, and the TWU stands ready to ensure their voices are heard.
A key milestone in our campaign takes place next week, when up to 60 TWU delegates from across Australia come together for Major Bargaining Round training.
Delegates will receive training and education on the bargaining process, equipping them with the knowledge and confidence to represent their fellow workers throughout negotiations
Strong workplace delegates are the backbone of our union, and their leadership will play a vital role as we continue fighting for better wages, safer workplaces and secure jobs
June has also been a busy month across Western Australia
We recognised International Pride Month by reaffirming our commitment to ensuring every transport worker feels safe, respected and included at work
We also acknowledged Men's Health Week, highlighting the importance of looking after both physical and mental wellbeing in an industry where too many workers continue to face long hours, fatigue and high-pressure working conditions.
Our organisers have spent the month out on the ground, visiting members in Geraldton, the Southwest, Goldfields, the Northwest and throughout the Perth metropolitan area
These visits are an important reminder that the strength of our union comes from staying connected with members where they work, listening to their concerns and ensuring their voices are represented in every campaign and negotiation
This July marks the release of our national member survey.
Every four years, the TWU conducts a nationwide survey to better understand what matters most to our members and to help shape the future direction of our union
As a member-led organisation, your feedback is essential in ensuring we continue to fight for the issues that matter most to transport workers
The survey asks about the way we communicate with members, the information we share through our publications and social media, the workplace entitlements that are most important to you, and your experiences with safety across the transport industry, including road incidents and near misses
The information you provide helps us identify emerging issues, strengthen our campaigns and advocate more effectively on your behalf
Just as importantly, it ensures our priorities are driven by the people who know this industry best our members
Without your firsthand experience in the yards, depots, warehouses, on the roads and in the skies, union officials would be working in the dark Your knowledge, experience and feedback guide every campaign we run and every claim we take into negotiations
If you receive the survey, I strongly encourage you to take the time to complete it
Every response helps build a stronger, more representative union, and each member who completes the survey will go into our draw to win a $500 gift card.
As we head into the second half of 2026, the months ahead will be crucial
Together, we will continue standing united, supporting one another and fighting for the wages, conditions and respect that every transport worker deserves.
