The junior C side wrapped up its first franchise title this month, defeating the Peterborough Jr. C Lakers in a best-of-five final. The Stealth took the series 3-1 and brought the cup home after a long, physical post-season that tested every part of the roster. It was the kind of run that sticks with a group. The Stealth finished the regular season with the league’s best record, then methodically worked through the playoffs. They handled a tough series against the Whitby Jr. C Warriors, closed that one out with a convincing 12-6 win in game five, and carried that momentum straight into the final against Peterborough. Game one of the final went their way, 7-3. The Lakers answered to even the series. The Stealth responded again and never really looked back, closing the championship on the road and sending the celebration back to Six Nations. Fans showed up in numbers both at home and away. The arenas were loud. The support that mattered so much was consistent. At the centre of it all was coach Jason Henhawk. In the hours and days after

the final, Henhawk made a point of thanking the people who rarely get the spotlight: the sponsors, the management, the volunteers, the video guy, the timekeepers, the music man, the cooks, and especially the fans who packed the buildings night after night. “In life and lacrosse, family is everything and that’s what these boys were,” he
wrote. That was the theme of the whole season. Henhawk coached several of these players through their entire junior careers. One of them was his cousin Jack, who started and finished his junior days wearing Stealth red. After the final, Jack posted a simple message that clearly landed with his coach: when you win with family, it goes right to the top of

the list. Henhawk has been open about the personal side of this year as well. In early August, while the finals were still underway, he marked nine months and three weeks alcohol-free. The timing was not lost on him. At the same time the Stealth were grinding through a best-of-five series, their coach was stacking another kind of
quiet win. He has shared parts of the longer journey publicly, including the decision to change course, the hard work that followed, and the decision to keep going. The championship arrived at a moment when that personal work was already showing results. The Meredith Cup is the Ontario junior C championship. For a Six Nations team to claim it for the first time carried real weight in the community. Players talked about the “Stealth or Die” mindset throughout the playoffs, and it showed up in the way they competed when games got chippy and the margins got thin. When the final horn sounded, the floor filled with hugs and the kind of noise that only comes after a long chase. Players who had been together for years finally got to lift the cup. Henhawk, true to form, kept pointing the credit back at the group. The win also earned him Coach of the Year recognition. It capped a season that already felt special before the hardware arrived. For a junior program, nights like this do not come around every year. The Stealth made this one count on the floor, in the stands, and, for their coach, in the quieter work that happened away from the arena. The 2026 Meredith Cup stays in Six Nations.
