Council’s not against a new pool TWEED SHIRE Council General Manager Troy Green says council is not opposed to a 50-metre pool, but wants residents to understand the financial implications of delivering the proposed fully integrated indoor sports and aquatic centre. “Nobody at this Council is against a pool,” Mr Green said.
He said the key question facing councillors on August 20 was “when we deliver them, how we pay for them, and who pays”. Council estimates the fully integrated centre would cost about $160 million, including indoor courts, a 50-metre pool, program pool, health and wellness spaces,

allied health rooms, parking and supporting infrastructure. Mr Green said no funding has currently been allocated to the project and outlined seven potential funding sources, including rates, borrowing, developer contributions, government grants, asset sales or private delivery.
