By Jo Kennett THIS EDITION’S Agent of the Week is Paul Sheehan, a sales and marketing specialist at LJ Hooker Coolangatta Tweed Heads with an amazing past. Paul won the Rate My Agent (RMA) award for Agent of the Year for Banora Point for fours years in a row, the latest in a long line of awards including the RMA Most Trusted Agent last year and the RMA Agent of the Year for three years running, not a bad record when you consider that he only got into the industry by accident. Described by his clients as ‘outstanding’, ‘bright, cheerful and positive’, ‘helpful and professional’ and providing ‘first class service’, Paul has won plenty of kudos in a tough and competitive industry. We caught up with Paul to hear more about his life and get a few real estate tips.
What inspired you to go into real estate? I was doing property photography for a few agencies, when some of the principals said I should be selling property and using my people and photography skills as a combination.
What is your favourite part about being an agent? Helping people is what it is all about for me. I absolutely love it.

Before you were a real estate agent what was the most interesting/unusual job you had?

My resume is huge from being a chef, an island resort manager, a TV cameraperson and a TV director. I had a media company specialising in underwater and aerial photography. I also had a DJ/ entertainment business just to name a few without boring anyone.
What’s the hottest segment of the Tweed Shire property market at the moment?
The whole area is absolutely buzzing; there’s no pinpointing a certain segment.
What’s the biggest changes across the market over the past 12 months?
With the election over and recent rate cuts , the buyer activity has given consumers confidence again.
Who are you seeing buying (first home owners, sea changers from the city, people from overseas) and what type of sellers do you have (downsizers, people cashing in and moving elsewhere)?
It really is a mixture of all you just mentioned for both buyers and sellers
How can people get a foot on the property ladder?
