OUR AGENT of the Week is Paul McCarthy, licensed agent and principal of Real Estate 2487 at Kingscliff. Paul has more than 30 years experience in real estate sales and has even written a book on property investment. He and partner Heather, the agency’s marketing expert, live in Kingscliff and love everything about the Tweed Coast lifestyle. I do believe though, especially in tightly held desirable locations such as Kingscliff and the Tweed Coast where we mainly deal with home owners and to a much lesser degree property investors, the effects on our market should be minimal. WHAT ARE YOU HEARING FROM PEOPLE PLANNING ON BUYING OR SELLING SINCE THE CHANGES WERE ANNOUNCED? There has been some initial hesitation from buyers however that will always be the reaction of most human beings when facing adverse change. An investor I have sold to previously contacted me after the budget in an anxious frame of mind wanting to sell, however once we went over the pros and cons of why he bought in the first place and worked out what his long term goals for buying were, he was much more relaxed, had a chat with

I have sold all types and price ranges of residential properties over the years, including off the plan, to both home owners and property investors. I do enjoy working with investors having been a property investor myself, however I am always pleased seeing the satisfaction of both the buyer and seller at the completion of any successful sale process. CAN YOU TELL US ABOUT THE BOOK YOU HAVE WRITTEN ON REAL ESTATE? I self published a property book back in 2010 on how to purchase investment properties using the equity in your own home with little money or no money down. I also encouraged in the book if you did nothing more than just buy your own home and hold it through to retirement, you would have yourself a very comfortable nest egg.
