Issue 79 Summer 2021

TupsleyVoice OUTDOOR SERVICES AT ST PAULS ARE A GREAT SUCCESS For very many months of the 2020/21 Winter, churches could not hold Sunday Services due to the Covid 19 lockdown restrictions to stay at home where possible, so at St Paul’s Tupsley, services were prerecorded and made available for viewing on the church’s U-Tube Channel, to be found on the home page of the church web site www.stpaulshereford.org.uk However as the warm, dry and sunny, spring days arrived in late March it was decided to take advantage of the relaxing lockdown restrictions and have outdoor services, starting with Easter Day. Importantly it allowed the congregation to sing for the first time for very many months, and especially to be able to celebrate Easter with the rousing and well known traditional Easter Hymns. These outdoor services have continued ever

since. The sound system and Clavinova piano are brought outside, and together with guitar(s), flute, cornet and soloist, music to accompany the singing is created for the congregation to sing to. It has been a delight to be able to sit in the sunshine and hear the birds singing in the trees. We have been able to have outdoor services virtually every week since Easter, though the cold late April and May weather meant we all had to wrap up well. Fortunately the rain kept away at the crucial times. Outdoor services are set to continue at 10:00am every Sunday morning at least until the end of July. Prerecorded services for those who cannot or are still wary of venturing out while the virus is still in circulation are also planned to continue for the time being. Do Come along, all are welcome!
